    is there a manual for these? I have one on a fixed wing model and I want to turn the low voltage cut off ---OFF--- . is that possible?

    Thanks for video. I bought the same ESC few days ago and they actually have Simonk bootloader. So I don't have to use USBASP and do any soldering. I just connect them to my naze32 and flash it using cleanflight pass-through in BLHeliSuite. Very easy. Also if you download all the simonk hex files BLHeliSuite can find which one is installed on the ESC in about 10 seconds with the Identify ESC function. But I wouldn't probably get that far without your video so thanks again.

    I have the same esc but there is no startup musical tone but everything seems working well .but instead of single beep in throttle calibration mode in full throttle there is continuous single beep after i bring down the throttle there is 3 beeps that indicates successful ..but the quad is flying well in stabilize and alt hold mode but the problem is in loiter drone wobbles a lot

    Can you help me solve the New Red brick problem...
    The new red bricks (from Banggood 125a & 200A) have RED pc boards, the records of simonk that I have found so far only revers to black and green pcb's...
    Other strange thing is that the red brick 200a verifies with ALL .hex files, but works with NONE...?

    Looks like a beast of a quad copter you have there. The latest simonk 30A 2-4s esc I received from Aliexpress has a nuvoton 51FB9AE controller on the board. So things have changed over the last couple of years. For those interested and your info...

      same. though keep in mind that it's a standard BOM eq of atmega8 chip as long as you can figure out the pinout should be able to flash with the same hex files(no tested currently working on one will update when smoke rises..)

    I got the same esc in 2014 and only just tried using it the past few days.
    It's the 4s 30a lipo version, it gets hot just sitting there while I try and setup endstops and pitch slopes ect, I'm only using a 3s 18650 pack and the original esc rated for the same smoked and popped the second it was plugged in.
    These are now $20+
    Maybe the BEC? Any help is appreciated...

    Hi ,
    when I operated my quadqopter ...the motors run at diffrent speeds !!!
    why ?
    the motors are good .
    but the signals that exited from esc's are not good .
    how I make the signals of my esc are the same ???

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  6 років тому

      You may need to calibrate the ESCs. You need to raise your throttle to 100% before powering on the ESC so it learns the maximum. Lower the throttle to 0% and it will learn the minimum. This is different depending on what flight controller you are using. If you wire directly to the PWM wires from the receiver, the calibration should work as I described.

  • @VTeslaV

    Does yours get hot to in idle?? Like when you are not running the motor they get pretty hot on the bottom, mine get around 50 degrees centigrade.
    Edit: I only ordered one, so I don't have a reference.
    Edit, also, I run it on 6S

    • @MileHighMulticopters

      Sometimes 1 will get hot. But not hot enough to burn. I have 1 quad with all 4 BECs plugged in and not all will get warm.

      EDDY SAPUTRA Thanks. I'm having difficulty understanding exactly what is happening. Can you clarify what you mean by "the motor like stack for run"? I'll answer your question as best as I can.

      Hi mile high multicopters..
      Thanks for reply..
      I mean my motor can not run well or like the spin stuck..sorry my bad english

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  8 років тому

      Is this all motors or just 1 motor? If it is only 1 motor, then switch it to another ESC to test it. If it behaves the same, then the motor is bad. If it is stuck when you spin it with your fingers, then your bearings may be bad or there is a bend in the motor shaft. If all motors are good and it does this, there may be an incompatibility between your ESC and motors. Maybe a SimonK firmware upgrade to the latest version will help if there both the ESC and motor are good. Otherwise you will need to try a new ESC or motor. I hope that this helps.

    • @eddy.saputra
      @eddy.saputra 8 років тому

      thats just 1 motor....but now i was fix it....
      btw..how should ESC timing i choise in if i used simonk firmware...is i choise standart ESC, rapid or oneshot..? i still confuse here. and can this wrong choise cause ESC burn or bad..?

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  8 років тому

      I'll try to answer as best as I can. If your ESC is identical to mine, you must choose tgy.hex. My guess is that it will be a standard ESC. I do not believe that this ESC can be flashed using oneshot. The only method of flashing as far as I know is to use the programming pads as I show or an ATMEL socket programmer tool. I made my own flash tool that you can see if you look at my other video. I do not recommend that you try to flash firmware for the wrong ESC as this can be unpredictable and you may end of bricking your ESC and need to use other methods to unbrick it. There is a bootloader on the ESC can may need to be upgraded to use other methods of flashing. The method that I use is to identify exactly what firmware is on the ESC first and then upgrade it using the correct firmware.
      To customize the timing and other parameters, you will have to do a custom build of the ESC firmware. Please refer to the SimonK documentation, as I have not done this yet since I am satisfied with the performance on my ESCs.

    Hi, I was lead to believe the tgy.hex file is for 16Mhz external crystal ESCs and 8Mhz internal oscillator ESCs should use tgy_8mhz.hex file. Any comment on this ? Many thanks.

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  6 років тому

      I can't say for sure. But, I'm 99% positive that my ESCs do not have the external oscillator. I can't see the component on the board. However tgy.hex works for me. If you go to the Thingiverse page, you can see a picture of my ESC board.

    Is there any noticeable difference between 2012 and 2015 firmware, Was it worth the time and expense spent stripping off the heatshrink, soldering wires, and replacing the heatshrink?

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  6 років тому +1

      I thought that there was a noticeable difference in response. But compared to modern miniquad ESCs, I can't say that it would be worth it. The expense was minimal.

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  7 років тому

      I'll try. What tools are you using to flash? Have you seen my other video where I made a tool? ua-cam.com/video/-6gfSp8RyV4/v-deo.html

    • @AndreFrazatto
      @AndreFrazatto 7 років тому

      (for some reason I can't answer where we were talking originally :P)
      I did the tests you suggested and yes, all terminals are correctly soldered and continuity is verified.
      It all points to this damn external oscillator, but I have no clue what that is. (I could research but.....) Would you have an example of such setup?

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  7 років тому

      The oscillator is basically a clock for timing. If you don't have one, then the ATMEL processor must generate its own clock timing, which is less accurate. My ESC do not have the external oscillator. This is one of the ways to identify the ESC as using the Simon K tgy.hex firmware. You cannot flash BL Heli on these ESCs. Sorry. Maybe you can make a video showing what is happening.

    • @AndreFrazatto
      @AndreFrazatto 7 років тому

      Sorry, I should have been more clear.
      I understand what an oscillator is (although I never saw one and don't know how to use it) and I understand there is one on an Atmega chip. But it is possible to turn it off to block new attempts to program the chip, here enters the external oscillator.
      As you mentioned you already have done this (connect an external oscillator to an Atmega8), I was hoping you could have some material about how to do it.

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  7 років тому

      Sorry, if I misspoke. I did not use an external oscillator.

    Is possible to convert this simonk esc to blheli firmware?if I want to upload the blheli firmware ,how is the equivalent hardware for blhelu programming?

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  6 років тому

      Hi. No, it is not possible. I believe that the reason is that the red ESC physically does not have an external oscillator which is needed for the BLHELI firmware. There are other inexpensive ESCs that can run BLHELI. Take a look at the yellow wrapped ESCs on eBay.

    One question here : In BLHeli Suite i can see Cleanflight Interface for flashing. I tried to flash it and it's flashed but when i compare firmware it is shwoing 98 % Match.
    And, Even my ESC is working perfectly after flashing with Newly "tgy_2015-09-12" tgy.hex file.
    Please help to understand is it okay or not if it's given comparison 98%
    Thank you !

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  8 років тому

      Hi. I cannot say for sure what is happening since I haven't used that option. If you can use KKflashtool, it will immediately do the verify after flashing. It should be 100%. BLHeli suite may be adding additional things for the bootloader or something else. Sorry.

      Hi Vishal, I just flashed them with blheli as well just passthrough the naze32. Just select the "Atmel/SimonK (cleanflight)" interface (#6) and you should be good. I couldn't change any settings, the write option is greyed out but now I have ONESHOT125 so it did work. "Identify ESC" finds 100% match to the tgy.hex file. Cheers!

    Can any ESC be programmed with SimonK firmware? Can any ESC be programmed with SimonK to have reverse function?

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  6 років тому

      Hi. Not as far as I know. There is a list of processors types that are supported for Simon K. The problem is identifying what your ESC uses and finding the correct firmware to load. Since most of the Simon K supported ESCs are generic, you'll have to open up the shrinkwap and examine the hardware.

    can 1 not use flight controller?

    • @MileHighMulticopters
      @MileHighMulticopters  8 років тому

      You may be able to use your flight controller to flash your ESC only if the ESC and your flight controller support it. These ESCs are very inexpensive and I have NOT been able to flash these using a DYS USB Linker. I believe that these red ESCs can only be flashed by soldering wires to the pads, an Atmel chip programmer, or using a tool like the one I used in one of my other videos. Perhaps the Turnigy USB linker would work.

      Im new and got the red and yellows thinking 30A lol and thought going in threw fv would work.
      Im using naze32 rev5 6dof. sure its atmel too.
      What other usb is there or is there no bluetooth way to connect? im thinking throw bluetooth on mine anyway. Can you recommend?
      Sorry for all questions but your exactly were im at. If theres no real need to upgrade il leave them but for now I just want to know the working and what version. Simple data cable threw fc will read them?

      FindmeKicksUK if you go to 5:00 on this video I use BLHeli suite to verify the tgy.hex firmware. There may be a way to read the firmware and identify it but I just used brute force and started comparing it to all of the versions. You can use avrdude, kkflashtool, or possibly others to compare the firmware.

      I don't know off-hand. But, you may be able to configure these options and make a custom firmware. Simon K. was working on a web-based GUI to do custom builds. Search for his website and see what the options are for custom built firmware.
