For example, if the SS was there only as close protection body guards but everyone is making the wrong assumption that they where providing event security, then it is wasted effort to blame them. Identify who was responsible for event security, and then you can look at their security plan, identify points of failure, and develop corrective actions to prevent it from happening again, which should be the ultimate goal. If you ask "Why would the Secret Service not defend their self if they were not responsible for event security?, there are a couple of reasons. The first is that this is an ongoing investigation. Releasing detailed information and findings before the investigation is complete makes it much more difficult to investigate. The second is that the less details that are made public about who provides security and how it is conducted, the more difficult it is for anyone to circumvent it.
