  • The master-director Ashutosh Gowariker talks about his upcoming magnum opus 'Mohenjo Daro'. There are seldomly seen filmmakers who introduce each and every crew member on the event of their film, and Ashu is one of them. In the first part of his Bollywood Hungama exclusive interview with Content Head Broadband Faridoon Shahryar, he beautifully explains why a director is nothing without his crew members. He also opens up on the criticism he has been facing for the costumes and language of the film. Must Watch!

Those who are criticizing the movie have no knowledge of Indus Valley History. Ashutosh ji consulted renowned historians and archeologists. Nowadays every Internet troll thinks He is more knowledgeable than real hardworking archeologists. Baccho only Google se Gyan nahi milta. dhoop me baal safed karne padte hai :p So keep calm and enjoy the epic movie

Amazing film. I just finished a chapter in my history syllabus, Harappan Civilisation. Then I saw movie, and I must say lot of research has indeed been done. It might not be accurate but nothing is accurate at this point. The film can be used just for a vision and not for education. Good script, good story and great film.

Imagination is essential for a fiction but not necessarily a distortion of history.

Mohenjo Daro is a beautiful movie which should have been well received. But those who watched it loved it. I just loved it !! It was not well rated as expected because of the boycott campaign instigated by spiteful Kangana Ranaut Hrithik was perfect for the role . He looks so gorgeous. His talent as an actor and his larger than life personna seeps into the whole film and makes it so real and credible. The settings and the music are beautiful .

Before this movie, most people didn't know about Mohenjo Daro . Now, they do and will enquire about it or make their own research. Together with giving us very good entertainment because it is a beautiful movie, it has filled its purpose of pulling Mohenjo Daro out of oblivion. Thank you Mr. GAWARIKER and Hrithik Roshan for your great performance.

Superb movie. It flopped only because of the nonsense boycott against big budget films and against Hrithik Roshan. It was decided by some overzealous .The only part which needs to be much shortened is when Chaani and Sarman are fooling around the city. Unnecessarily too long.

''Theories'' in science does not stem from ''speculation''. Asutosh said all these 'archaeologists' have each their '''different theories'' which he thinks they somehow just ''imagined''. That is not accurate. They have hypothesis, not theories. Theories are proven facts in the scientific jargon but we call them theories because we want to make sure no facts is fully absolute - future data might contradict or modify what has currently been proven under all other observed experiments. Also these archaeologists and historians did not come up with their speculations from out of nowhere but from studying an extensive amount of data. Not criticizing your movie, I am eager to see it but it is quite bothering to see you saying things which makes no sense just to make up for the extensive amount of imagined things which just was not the case during that time period. The best is to just be honest and lets all enjoy this beautiful looking movie which is art inspired by our oldest known civilizations.

One of the first foremost fundamental criteria for a theory is that it makes falsifiable predictions. Every theory can potentially be wrong, but with the best gold standard consistent scientific empirical evidence it has yet not disproved, which earns it a title of a scientific theory. Analyzing past ancient civilization is not so hard-science, which has essentially much larger possibility of falsifying, essentially there are many strong conflicting theories can coexist about explaining the same past! As an example, Aryan Invasion theory was once held to be scientific gospel, which was in fact religious-racial propaganda of Max Muller, No longer holds any evidence it to be true. Newer evidences of Aryan Indigenous theory (North & South Indians share same ethnic-genetic pool) has already falsified AInvasionT and even Max Muller admitted his fabrication of AInvasionT. There are many contemporary historians (Abrahamic bias) who still accept Aryan invasion theory as truth, essentially why they would not like narratives presented in this movie. Please read David Frawley on this topic!

Latest view would be Saraswati Civilization which predates Indus valley civilization. Saraswati river was later dried, which formed two civilizations, one moved to north-east (Indus Valley) and South (Dravadian narratives). There was no such things Aryan Civilization or Aryan Race, that was just a noble Saraswati civilization, which is infact true Indian Vedic Civilization (Post-Mahabharat).

Atleast Ashutosh Gowariker is trying something different and mind you all no historical movies are accurate so think this as a movie and not as a documentary. appreciate good things

From movies depicting history or events people would expect some accuracy. If a Hollywood movie depicts General Dyer as hero the argument that it is a cinema would nt satisfy us.. This doesnt mean it has to be cent percent accurate..but a Civilization more than 4000 years old could have been portrayed with a Little more sincere approach towards its historical background ..

no chance this was a mistake by ashutosh. he is smart enough to understand that this movie is lameass. he just didn't think that Indian majority are smart enough for him to make an actual effort into the movie.

I dont think the research and detailing work is very apt in this movie..
If you check the trailers, the houses and the town looks so damn clean, you can understand the state of the place by looking around India today..it can not be so damn clean..the houses have such sharp edges as if they were built yesterday..how lame.
And then he goes on to compare how western cinema shows Greek, Roman, etc cultures. You just need to watch those movies to see the kind of research and detailing they take care of in the movie.

all the people criticising hrithik movie must have been paid by Salgay to destroy hrithik. This is the problem with poor countries that they easily sell them for the money and do not stand for their values. Salgay you are a grandpa now so let hrithik rule bollywood now. all the Indians should be behind hrithik cos the khan's are using lot of tactics to stay at the top.

May be India is ready to tell it's citizen the land they hate the most is actully land of their ancestors and people they want to eleminat are none other than the one who are the reason of their existence, when ever Indian made any drama or historic film they never tell the viewers what is the current name of the place for example I watched all episode of Chanakya and Mahabharat they never showed a place on current Map , may be they are scared to tell the people the history and culture they are proud is actually no more theirs Now it's belongs to Pakistan, I Would like to see this film because I want to know how much they have masked the history with fantasy and Bollywood masala.. I'm definitely going to watch this..

hmm very intelligent..I'm amazed by ur wit... he talks abt Greek civilization movies wich does take cinematic liberties yet manage to give a right imagery... we wudnt HV askd fr authenticity if it WS Farah Khan... its ashutosh....lagaan entertained too..but dint distort d way of life of dose times...nyways v still HV to watch complete movie to form a better opinion.....but ur documentary argument is very new n appealing!!

This is going to be the most factually incorrect movie of his. His own interpretations are far from reality. Of course, we don't know much about the indus valley civilization yet, but those stupid dance moves and costumes are really a work of pure fiction. I'd say he didn't research that deeply.
