- Stewart Copeland, best known as the drummer for The Police, joined Matt Pinfield for this episode of New & Approved!
Copeland discusses growing up in both America and the UK and how his passion for music developed. This eventually leads to the formation of The Police and the earliest days of the iconic English band. The first time Sting and Copeland jammed together is when the drummer knew there was something special about this band.
We also learn about Copeland's debut solo album "Klark Kent," which at the time was released as his secret identity. Copeland also discusses other solo projects and his own label Illegal Records.
Copeland recently released a new album titled "Police Deranged for Orchestra," which explores Police songs with a new lens. You can check out the entire album here:

Stewart has been the most active amongst the three of them for interviews. So approachable and such a nice person to talk to. And great stories definitely. 👍🙂
Nothing tops a show's host AND the guest sharing AMAZING stories! I'd pay top dollar to hangout with these two gentlemen for a couple of hours!
Great to hear Stewart again, so passionate witty and wise.
He's a natural storyteller
Massage in a brothel was my favourite song as a teenager
Man, I clearly remember “Murder By Numbers” on my Synchronicity cassette tape. It was on the cassettes at least .
Yes! I bought Synchronicity on cassette because I had first bought the album on LP, didn't get the EBYT single, was listening to a boombox a lot, and wanted Murder by Numbers.
Every Shit You Take!!! My favorite police song
Great interview! It's always a joy to listen to Stewart Copeland
A great chat, Matt! Thank you!
Cool info, thanks 4 this share 👀👍
Interestingly that Wrigley's Gum Commercial was here on UA-cam for a minute. Circa 2005. I watched it about half a dozen times and took for granted it would always be around. Nope. It vanished without a trace.
Hi Matt. It's Eliot from Colony Records/Normans in the Village. How are you? Great interview!
Copeland, Peart, Morello & Bruford…. Untoucheables. Point.

Dead End Job has a great bassline. Copeland's songs really were demanding on the bass side, Sting obviously could manage with ease
Demanding? On BASS?? 😂
