To those who think this is lame: Not everything we do in life is supposed to be meaningful but if you know Ruby she is one the most productive person I've ever seen. She doesn't do things just to get over with, she like to do them so she does them faster than others. Just like studying. So if your term of summer, vacation, relaxing time is not reading; just consider that she is not you. And she might like this. I love reading and the more time I take on a book, the more bored I get. So keep in mind that people have different routines and different speeds in reading. The last thing is, not every book is supposed to be informal. It's supposed to be a fun reading time.
Exactly! If reading lots of books in a short period is how Ruby likes to spend her time, that’s totally up to her. It doesn’t hurt my life 🤷♀️ I like to read but I accept I could never read at the pace she does but I’m okay with that.
Hello, Ruby. How do you normally process the things that you read from books? Do you write the essence down in a notebook? I love reading too. But I find that I need space and time between each book so that I can really absorb the nutrient each book provides. I like your videos a lot. They inspire me. Thank you. Best wishes from Ivy. :)
Jing Huo it's the same case with me too it takes me time after completing a book to absorb it,analyse it and then move on to the nxt one... don't know how people do this readathorn...
Jing Huo for me it’s a different process, but I think it’s different for most people. I tend to annotate my books, an habit I built for school. It’s tiring to write everything you think when you just finished a chapter, but I think that if you want to process a book, you can note down anything you find interesting or important whenever you stumble upon it. Also write line, page. At the end of the book you’ll have a filled notebook with all of your thoughts while you go through the book! You can even write your final thoughts when you finish the book.
Finally, I can say I find your passion again in this vlog. Reading always makes me feel alive. Watching you reading makes me want to read right away. It is a enjoyable vlog truthfully.
I think this challenge really depends on the length of the book and the size of the font! For example, Jane Eyre is a 700 page book with fairly small writing. Also a book like The Shining is very long too and therefore would take longer.
TigerAnimations the one I read was around 550 pages. It took me 3 days because I was reading about 2h a day not more but that was only because I didn't have enough time to read it in one sitting which, given how brilliant the book is, would've been entirely possible. For challenges like this I think it's really important to pick books you'd enjoy regardless of length because reading something uninteresting on a personal level would make it difficult to read quickly and actually absorb the contents of the book. It took me longer to read 50 pages of A Tale of Two Cities than Jane Eyre.
Pallavi Banerjee I 100% relate, but I'm thinking of finishing two to five books right after each exams week, and I'll do a book a day in the semester and summer holidays because I've got soo many books and seeing them but not having time for them really makes you sad
I was in a reading slump when I found this video and it made me go: holy hell I love reading, what am I doing?? And I read two books in one day, so thank you 😘
Your talking style and mannerism seem so genuine. I love watching you 💕 I found you when I was searching in UA-cam for motivation to get rid of my reading slump. Got it from you 💕
Ruby please consider reading Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker, I think you would thoroughly enjoy it and will be so helpful for you at University! It’s my favourite nonfiction I’ve read this year! So eye opening
I hope you create readathons like this which do not conform to any parameters of being aesthetic because it's so soothing to watch readathons that do not loose its countryside vibe❤️ Among all your readathons, this one is my fave✨
Random123 I feel like Paper Towns was a good book but I agree that it was a bit stretched. It could've been much shorter. I love Turtles All The Way Down though
Lauren McLachlan in my opinion I didn’t feel like paper towns was stretched mainly because I didn’t want it to end 😂😂😂 I cant wait to read turtles all the way down
Exactly, I wonder how could poasibly be enjoyable to read like that... without even the time to dive into the story and get fond of the characters whatsoever.
The more time I spent on a book, I get bored of that book. I like consuming faster than usual I guess. But not everyone has the same views or routines as you🤷🏻♀️
I can’t speak for Ruby, but when i start feeling tired when i’m reading, i think of how satisfied i will feel once i’m done the book and that motivates me to push through.
Hey Ruby. Just to say that this video has helped me through the week. Whenever i feel down i always come to your channel and it just lifts me 😢. Thankyou for inspiring me Ruby 😢
Wow. I can barely read one book in a day. And if I wanted to, it would be like a kiddy book like The Box Car Children, Nancy Drew or like A Series Unfortunate Events. Those type of books... Which is kind of sad lol
Hmm yeah but almost every book Ruby is reading in this vid is kind of a kiddy book. No disrespect I probs couldn’t read 8 books in 24hrs but just saying !!
You are so lucky to live with your family in a big lovely house :) my family was seperated and i just miss those old days a lot. I am a bibliophile too, I would love to make some book suggestions ;)
"ignore the crocs" 😂 I attempted a readathon before but my breaks ended up way longer than my reading time. Staying laser focused for long chunks of time is like a superpower I swear
Ruby you are wonderdul! The way you select books and touch the pages passionately just reminds me of my younger age when I got loads of time on books and enjoyed reading so so much.. I gradually lost the habit of reading as getting busier and I'm feeling bad about it. I decide to pick it up again and start my own read-a-thon. Thank you so much and your videos Ruby :)
You inspire me so much. It good to see someone who likes to read as much as I do. People here in South Africa think I am crazy that I read so much. Anyways thank you for the videos.
That is amazing! I have read about 10 books since the 20th of July (the start of my summer holiday) but I don’t think I would ever read that many books in one day! Thank you for inspiring me to read more this summer, and I will try to attempt this challenge x
History of Wolves Alcatraz Schoolgirl: A Memior Small Spaces Modern Latin American Literature: A Very Short Introduction The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie Four: A Divergent Story Collection The Mystery of the Jewelled Moth Paper Towns
Wow that's crazy 8 books I can bearly finish 1 in a week 😂😂 It's amazing that you can do what you want when you *really* put your mind to it. You also inspired me to read again I used to be a huge bookworm but now I've stopped but I will carry on cause of you.📚🐛 - to Ruby Granger
There is only one thing that I don't like in your videos Ruby, the audio is so annoying because sometimes it's loud and the next second I can't hear anything so I increase the volume then it's too loud again, your videos deserve to have better audio quality, I hope that it will be improved in the future (please improve it! 😃)
I definitely recommend you reading: ‘All the bright places’ - Jennifer Niven. It is such a beautiful , modern day book and it definitely is emotional! ‘Looking for Alaska’ - John green. Another emotional book, but once again very nicely written and carries a very real message about teenagers in society today. X
It takes me a whole month to finish a book since I read very very slowly, I then need another week to reflect on the book and 'get over it' . I'm amazed at how fast you read
I used to read a lot but I stopped for some reason and I have just started to get back into it so it takes me a while to finish a book but I’m setting goals for myself and the reason I got back into reading was because of your videos♥️ they inspire me so much, love youu♥️♥️♥️♥️
I like reading English books, but in my country doesn't have such a facility to buy books, every books so expensive. Even in our central library impossible to borrow a book to home.😖😵
Hi i agree books are super expensive, but i read a lot of books online for free! Especially if they are in the public domain, they are pretty easy to find as pdfs.
Also I'd love to see a video about techniques to improve reading (how not fall asleep or get distracted) and a video about how do you control the time you spend on social media to keep being productive and avoid these distractions, pleaseee
8 books in a day is like impossible for me but when you have a dedicated soul like Ruby then you can go on and on so proud of you.....you inspire me so much Ruby👍👍
The 24 hour readathon seems so fun and adventurous! However, my limit would be around 12 hours because I don’t know if I could mess with my sleep schedule! This was a very motivational video Ruby thank you! Reading is such an amazing way to either escape from the world or learn about new things❤️ xx
Well done! Happy to see you love reading ... if anytime you will have no idea what to read, I suggest to give a try to The solitude of prime numbers by Paolo Giordano, The elegance of the hedgehog by Muriel Barbery, To kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (this one it's a must 😊) Enjoy yourself among the books
Omg I have tried this challenge before but only got to page 15 in a book before I got bored and backed out of the challenge I love your channel it inspires me to get better grades and since I am going to secondary school this year I will keep in touch of you channel 💕
Yes! This is so me especially when I go to the library and pick books out. I get the max amount which is 50 something and I find myself binging all day! Great video!
I feel like as youtube culture becomes progressively more centric around a certain type of personality (which isn't a bad thing, just a wee bit monotonous) it's so inspiring to see Ruby stay true to herself and be an unimpacted individual!💕💕
I always watch your videos with my little cousin, who loves them as much as I do!She already is a big booklover(so am I)but your videos are really motivating her :) We love it when you post longer videos like these❤️

I take 8 weeks to finish a book. While you finish 8 books in a day. Wowowowowow.

Amanda B agreed. I’ve been reading since I learned how to and speed was just something that came with reading more 💛

Hahah love you Dylan
So is this just something you decided to do? It seems like fun!
I might do this next week, and see how many books I could do.
Vicvic W it's a big thing in the book tube community. I think a book tuber called readbyzoe started it but I could be wrong.
It was actually started in 2007 on a blog! It's called the Dewey's 24 hour readathon.
InfiniteReads thank you, I've never heard of that before.
I think this challenge really depends on the length of the book and the size of the font! For example, Jane Eyre is a 700 page book with fairly small writing. Also a book like The Shining is very long too and therefore would take longer.

I didn’t like the fault in our stars but I LOVED paper towns it’s one of my favourite books
Urvi B paper towns was great but didn't you feel like it dragged out too much?
Random123 I feel like Paper Towns was a good book but I agree that it was a bit stretched. It could've been much shorter. I love Turtles All The Way Down though
Both are two of my faves! But while I really enjoyed the book to the fault in our stars I was disappointed in the movie

I myself try not to speed through books cause it kinda ruins the expierience for me bit I read really fast
By fast I mean it usually takes me from max 3 days to a few hours od I try not to read fast
I know what you mean , I can get through a few a month but also like to absorb what I have read and it depends on the book!
Exactly, I wonder how could poasibly be enjoyable to read like that... without even the time to dive into the story and get fond of the characters whatsoever.
