He's right, trying the "This is a cold call, you can hang up if you want or give me 30 seconds to explain why I'm calling" definitely doesn't work. 50% of people just hang up straight away. It's better to think about how you can actually talk to them and have a conversation. You have roughly 7 to 10 seconds to disarm them so take your time to get into the conversation. People are always looking for a reason to hang up when it's a number they don't recognise.
How does your "3x revenue of the ad-spent" work? If there's been less than 3x this month, let's say, then the client won't pay for your *service*? And he'll pay for the ad-spent no matter what?
