I love your videos, and I love that you found a wonderful woman to accompany you in this life! Happy for both of you. Please don't stop doing what you do!
I have shot and reloaded both of these cartridges extensively for the last 25 years. I can tell you with absolute positivity that there is nothing you can do with a .308 that 30.06 can't do just a little bit better. I like both cartridges just fine, but as a handloader, if I could only pick ONE, it would hands down be the 30.06. It's all about the case capacity.
I just shot some ones 1022 build the other day. On the bench at 50 yrds. Was not even using his good ammo. I shot a 5 shot group 1/2". I have never shot a precision set up before. Between you two and this guy, I think I will try my own precision build. Thnx for all the great info and vids. Love to watch.
Many things go into getting great results and one of the major limitations is the nut behind the butt. Nothing wrong with the nut behind the butt on your setup.
Little less horsepower with the 308, but 2208 (Varget) is a fantastic powder. You can also load 308 down with Trail Boss for subsonic use. 308 gets the nod from me.
It maybe a brain fart but i wonder out loud if it might be beneficial to throw a few handfuls of flour around the targets when the grass is green to help out your spotter? Love your content thanks Jon
Hi, hope both of you are well.I love your videos. Is the 30.06 an efficient cartridge? if no, does making it ackley improved it much better??/ none etc. What do you think the reasonable max range for the 30.06 is?
Great shooting as always. I tried to guess/simulate your load in the GRT. To reach 2600fps, it shows overpressure, 40% more recoil energy than my usual, but you look like shooting a .22 LR :)
2700 mv out of 308 with a 208 grain ogive! I'm not familiar with the 2209 but it seems equivalent to VihtaVuori N150 and I guess you seating depth is very low? ( Although I know you said you don't mess much with seating depth)
I use the 195 grain Sierra TMK seated to 2.87" (just fits in an AICS mag) loaded to 2675. It drops to transonic at close to 1300 yards at our sea level. However this load tends to cause ejector swipes.
I just noticed a farm behind the target. I want to build a good 3006. Have for quite sometime. I took an old winchester 670 to the range late in the day today. It made a small raged hole with old factory cor loks at 50 yards. 10 lb trigger and old weaver 4 power that didnt have enough windage in bad light. I dont want to adjust the trigger but i have to and new scope
Currently building a long range banger in .223. Interested to see where I can put it. Oryx chassis, Tikka action, Heavy True Flight barrel 26" 1:7, Hardy suppressor, Timney trigger, Spuhr single mount holding a Element Nexus Gen 2. CHUR from NZ
@@jameswozny1997that was more for logistics and belt fed machine guns than anything else. Same reason they went to5.56 had nothing to do with actual performance, remember the army doesn’t buy the best product, they buy the product that meets the minimum requirements not the maximum. Also US Marines used Model 70 in .30-06 up to an including Vietnam
@@jcar1417 308 Is far more efficient than 3006, can be subsonic, doesn't need long barrels to achieve its desired performance, better in semi auto, less recoil. Sure it has less power, if the animal is dead you can't kill it more mate. People always talk about shit hits the fan scenarios, wouldn't you prefer to have 100 308 rounds than 70 3006 if you had finite powder?
@ doesn’t matter, point being that 7.62 x54 was adopted by the military because .30-06 did not function well in semi automatic and automatic weapons , so a round with similar characteristics was created. Then Winchester dropped a round called .308 Winchester which was all most identical to the7.62 except was higher pressure. So the military creates a round that was similar to .30-06 for logistic reasons , just as I stated. They were not trying to reinvent the wheel, they were trying to create a .30-06 round that fit their needs 40 years later hence the 7.62- .308 family.
30-06 is Eternal 🎉in my world very wide range of loadings 🎉 Great job
Cheers man, thanks
Kick ass!
I love the 30-06.

Back in ww2 the 30-06 got the job done and at those long range shots as well
Yep, Cheers Brian
WW1, WW2, Korea and part of Vietnam.

That's some serious shooting, Mark. Thanks for keeping him on the straight and level, Sam!!
Cheers Rob, thanks Man
The 30-06 can push a heavy high BC bullet as fast as a 6.5 creedmoor, it just kicks more. Also carries more energy down range.
Cheers
6.5 creedmore isn’t fast 308 pushes 178grain high bc bullets at 2700 168s at 2850, 6.5 140 grain 2700 at best
I know it’s not fast relatively speaking. I should have said the same speed. .308 can’t push it as fast, same bullet.
Sam is having too much fun here. You’d think she was on the gun with her level of excitement !!!
Thanks Tommy
Years ago I picked the 30-06 as the ONE to take along, still do 😜👍🏻

Good older 30-06... :)
Two very similar cartridges.
Hard to go wrong with either!

Yes no over pressure here, lol, cheers
Love to see yall step into precision airguns, i think youd enjoy the journey. Tuning the rifle is delicate but once its there, you blow peoples minds😂
Maybe talk to some manufacturers and suggest to them to get in touch, Cheers
@markandsamafterwork bintac may be contacting you. They make a 38" barrel mcar if you wanted to look into it there's a few vids out on the tube
Awesome, Thanks Man Cheers
Both are classic rounds, good shooting though. Damn good.
Thanks Man

Challenge between .308 and .30-06: who was the winner? So both can hit a steel plate at 1000 meters/yards but asides from that, what was the outcome?
Both, lol, Cheers
Love your videos
Thanks Ian
Great vidio
Thanks Man
I would love to try my Tikka t3x super varmint 30 06 range like this😎😊
