    I’d suggest you re-route your power cable as you have routed it around your inverter, especially now you have taken of the choke off that power cable which filters noise/interference.

    Good Stuff! Ya beat me to it! 😉 I am still kinda waiting/considering the larger high performance Dishy for mobile use (if it ever comes down in price 🙄) It's currently available in Oz to businesses but @ $3.5k it's up there especially as the RV hardware is so cheap. Be interested to see how it goes 👍

      "as the RV hardware is so cheap"
      Assuming you're talking about Starlink's RV hardware, it's the exact same hardware as home users get. AC voltage and all.

    Did you need to use the extra power supply or does the kit have a 12v converter built into it ?

    • @TyFenwick
      @TyFenwick  Рік тому +1

      Yeah must use everything in the kit

    • @billroach2393
      @billroach2393 Рік тому

      I reckon that converter would be 12v to 48vdc. That's the voltage the standard dishy receives from the router in a normal set-up.

    Keen to see how it performs because doesn’t this remove the automatic articulation etc to point to a satellite ?

    So how does the starlink work to obtain the perfect signal if it ddoesn't have the ability to move correctly and jsut staying stationary? Doesn't make sense to me please elaborate?

    • @TyFenwick
      @TyFenwick  Рік тому

      With so many satellites now the motion part of the unit is not necessary. I have not lost internet over the past 2 weeks in the desert. It’s working fantastic !

  • @charminbaer2323

    The only thing I would be weary of about this solution versus others out there, is the color of the mount. Having it be black, it might be prone to overheat your components inside the mount. Hopefully you don't have any issues in the future. I do love this all in one solution though, just gotta run a 12v power/ground line to it. will make for a clean installation.

    • @TyFenwick
      @TyFenwick  Рік тому

      I don’t think the black will be an issue as it has great ventilation around it with air. You can get it in white also

    What I'd like to know Ty, is how you found initialising this router and setting it up without the purpose-built software/hardware pairing that is the Starlink router and mobile app? How do you configure it?

    • @TyFenwick
      @TyFenwick  Рік тому +1

      Read instructions fully at the end. It explains how to set up your router. The app works the same I didn’t need to do anything on the starlink end.

    • @1218omaroo
      @1218omaroo Рік тому +1

      @@TyFenwick Oh! :) Thank you! I guess that the app talks to the dish hardware then, and not to the original router. Interesting! :) Can't wait to get it.

    its too bad you didn't show a test of the system and the WIFI, I would have a concern about the WIFI being in a metal box and behind Starlink antenna's RF interfering with the WIFI reception

  • @HillPhantom

    Be very careful doing this, can easily mess up you dishy. Secondly, if it can't move well, you are not going to connect as much nor are you going to get best speeds. Cool build for sure, just some serious risks and downfalls of keeping it flat.

    Why do people keep making these Starlink mods? It seems like Elon and Company are not listening... The piece you cut off unnecessarily was a ferrite coil used to get rid of spurious signals.
