Colin's declaration of love made me tear up: "I simply cannot believe that a woman with such bravery loves me. How lucky I am to stand by your side and soak up even a little bit of your light. If my only purpose in life is to love a woman as great as you, then I will be a fulfilled man, indeed."

This season was my favorite because it touches on the many faces of love. Polin being adorably in love and their road for understanding, i like the balance of their conflicts, it's never agressive., Mothers and daughters and generational trauma. Yourself and self-worth. I've always knew the Queen could accept Pen and Lady Whistledown, it made sense.

Re Francesca - we know that she loves John even if she didn't experience a kiss like her mother described it. Yes, we've had a lot of moments throughout the show when a kiss or a moment played a significant part in a relationship - Daphne and Simon's kiss at the ball, Daphne and Simon's wedding night, Kate and Anthony's kiss when Daphne walked into them, their moment at Edwina's wedding, Penelope and Colin's kiss after she admitted he was helping her, their carriage scene, when George and Charlotte finally consummated their marriage, or their attraction to each other by the wall. But we're all forgetting something - none of those moments defined their marriage. A kiss can give us a lot but it doesn't define everything. And we've forgotten what else Violet and Charlotte have told us about relationships - they're a decision to stay and to work through any problems them may have, to choose to love someone. We know that Francesca has every chance of making her marriage with John work throughout this whole season, they're comfortable with each other in silences, and they're comfortable to talk when they want to. Francesca is mature, calm and knows what she wants, but it doesn't mean that she can't get he wrong idea about things. She may have put too much focus into what her mother told her about kisses and felt confused or disappointed that she didn't get that, but people experience relationships and love in different ways. As we can see through her obvious attraction to Michaela but how when she left Bridgerton house she was still arm in arm with John and seemed pretty happy.
I haven't read Francesca's book yet but I've heard enough of what's going to happen to think 'it's still doable, make a few changes but the main points of the overall storyline could still be possible" (and before anyone criticises or argues with me remember I said COULD). I'm interested to know how it could go, her being in love with her husband but conflicted by her attraction to Michaela even though nothing has even happened because she feels like it's a betrayal to him.
I admit a) this makes me a HUGE hypocrite because I can get really vocal about changes I don't like to a story I know, though it mostly depends on which changes, why they were made, what the original text was and just the way the story was told in any adaptation, and b) that half of what I've said here come a book and movie adaptation that I'm not naming because I'm hoping to see it on this channel some day and don't want to give spoilers, but it's where two brothers fall for a woman, she's hoping to get the older one because he's richer and her family's mostly scraping by (she's dealing with it a lot worse than they are though) but is hoping to fall for him because she wants love and money, his younger brother kisses her and she later says "and it was wonderful....but then (ELDER BROTHERS NAME) kissed me and it was wonderful too, I got muddled....you can't really tell by kisses" (biggest difference between book and movie is that in the movie near the end she says "you know I'm not lying this time" while in the book she's the kind who never lies to anyone and she'd actually convinced herself that she'd fallen in love with one brother when she'd actually fallen for the other.
Either way though, we don't yet know what Francesca's story holds for us because last I heard it's likely going to be close to two years before we get season four since it takes them 8 months to film and then there's editing and cutting and dubbing as well, plus the cast all probably have different commitments as well. And when we do get to season 4 we're thinking it's most likely going to be Benedict's season because of the masked ball he mentioned.
Last I checked there was no news if we were going to get season 5 and 6 for Eloise and Francesca - but they can't really cancel when each season has stayed in Netflix's top ten for weeks, can they?
I wonder if we'll get another 'Bridgerton Story' season in-between 3 and 4? I'm still hoping for one focusing on a young Violet and a young Portia as they enter their season and approach marriage. I mean now that Portia can finally have a moments peace with all her daughters married and settled and the Featherington estate being secure, it could be a good time to go back and see if she was any different as a young debutante.

We've again reached the end. I had a special time with this season, it tugged at my heart with its many ways of how love was portrayed, the depth of the characters. Colin and Penelope's love, their insecurities and learning to make love work in happy and difficult times, learning how to trust and see your own value. Penelope and her family, she needed that bond.
I could have less Cressida and less Benedict f around, but other than that, i had a great time and that ending was so good, i was hoping she'd win and have the little Lord. lol

All in all, this season was fantastic, particularly because Pen and Colin are so realistic, their chemistry feels real. I was correct in my belief Queen Charlotte would help Pen get away with it. What else can the subjects do if the Queen gave her watchful endorsement? The changes for future characters don't bother me because I'm not a book reader but i hope Francesca wont hurt John, i like him.

I actually think in Cressida we have some of the elements of a tragedy. She certainly doesn't start out heroically, as tragic characters do, but we do see her having an opportunity to transform her journey from a villain's story to a more hopeful one. However like tragic characters we see her being separated from the influence of others who could influence her for better, as well as separating herself from them too. It is when tragic characters are separated from all positive influences that their downfall is sealed. Yet perhaps, given her downfall, in spite of all her plans might finally wake her up to the fact that her parents advice, especially in cutting her off from others was not wise. If she's back in season 4 could it be possible she might finally be open to be the help of others.
Love that Penelope and Colin both faced their insecurities and failings completely. Their declarations at the end of the episode, hers to everyone and his to her, cleared away the last of their barriers and so both realised that they were fully loved for who they truly are completely.

I think Francesca was right: there are all kinds of love. One can not rank one above the other. The love she has for John Stirling is more a platonic love.
You could plea for the passionate love we saw in the show, but it's should not be the standard one to strive for, passionate love can burn fast.
I think it would be great if we would not only see a love between birds of all kind of feathers, but also could see different kinds of love prevail.
See you in the next (Benedicts ?) season.
All the best from the Netherlands!

Francesca, as an uber introvert, had mostly kept to herself. It's very plausible that she wouldn't have been aware as to why the type of passions her older siblings had exhibited weren't evident within her-- she hadn't yet met that person who would stimulate those passions. I'm sure it was a massive shock to her system, just as it was to the audience, when she came face to face with Michaela and those feelings swamped her like an avalanche.
As for whether or not she loves John, I believe Francesca absolutely does, just not in an ardent way. Sometimes, a partner can be your soulmate, perfectly suitable in all ways, almost a twin in the preferences you share with them, but that lightning bolt of animalistic attraction that exists between Daphne and Simon, Kate and Anthony, and Penelope and Colin is absent. Even in romantic relationships, there are different types of love. While John doesn't take Francesca's breath away, he does soothe her soul. This type of simpatico love is rare, as well, and never to be taken for granted.
It is possible that Francesca isn't necessarily a lesbian. She could be attracted to a specific person, with the gender of this person being inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. She'd been in contact with multiple women and men, but only bonded with John and felt overwhelmed by Michaela.

This assertion that Benedict was “innocent” is odd. He’d been a part of 3somes/orgies before regularly. And casual sexual relationship with Madam Lacroix in previous seasons.
The artist who was married but in love with another gay man… there were vibes between him & Benedict- my gaydar had been buzzing towards him for 3 seasons.
I agree Tilly should’ve had a private convo about what he’s willing to do sexually but I don’t think their footing was that unequal. And their agreement was a casual fling, not a relationship. No one expected her to catch feelings.

Next season - finally Lady Featherington will be able to enjoy the season without having to worry about her daughters or the estate or money or whether or not a man is threatening her or leading her on or keeping her in the dark. I know high society women couldn't really put their feet up back then but there'll have to be something close to the physical act of putting your feet up and relaxing for a bit back then.

I was disappointed with how Francesca's introduction to John's cousin was handled. Not because of the gender-bending of the cousin, but because she fell into the "Violet stutter." Violet has finally accepted that there are many ways in which love can grow, and then Francesca demonstrates that spark of attraction just like Violet was originally hoping for. It makes Francesca's love for John seem lesser-than, like Violet's idealistic "instant passion and excitement" is the only way after all. And if Francesca is gay rather than bi, is she lying to herself that she loves her husband? John deserves better imo.

    • @HuntingViolets

    • @agenttheater5

@@melanie62954 I think she focuses on different parts of her relationship with Edmund for different children. Not deliberately, just things that she talks about a lot and she doesn't realise that she's giving a different impression to each of her children, like she assumes that they know about the things she told the other, if that makes sense. Like she talks about the decision to stay and work through any problems with their marriage with one child and may just assume they knew about the instant attraction, then she talks to he rather children about the instant chemistry they had as if they know about the times they had to work through any difficulties.
I guess there was an instant attraction when they first met, meaning they just liked each other and felt comfortable with each other when they met, or they were friends and then suddenly she looked at him one day and recognised what feelings it was that she had for him, and then after they got married they put their focus into the finer details of marriage, into the choice to make it work day by day.
Either way, the mistake she's making with this relationship is that she's putting her own expectations or experiences over love on her child or is basing what she saw from Daphne, Anthony and Colin's relationships onto Francesca, the fact that she saw each of them talking with their future spouses for long periods of time, and so doesn't understand the silence between Francesca and John.
      Am I making any sense?

well since it's still going to be roughly 2 years before we get season 4 we have no way of knowing what we'll see. All we know is that the main focus will be Benedict.
In any case, I don't think it'll be at the expense of John. It could be an interesting story, Francesca being in love with John but confused because of her attraction to Michaela because she feels like even just being attracted to her (even though nothing happened) is a form of betraying her husband. I want to see how she'll work through it, what she might say to John and how he'll take it. Remember, from season 1 we've been told about love and marriage being a choice, to stay together and to work through any issues you may have day by day.

Well as someone else put it in Cressida's case, not everyone can have a happy ending, but I'm still hoping Cressida will find some sort of happy marriage later on, or at least a marriage where she can learn to be content, someone who at least isn't cruel to her or who doesn't expect to much from her so that she can find some peace. Hoping it'll lead her to being comparatively civil to Penelope when next they meet.

Too many side characters storylines, too many dropped plot points, and in my opinion, I didn't feel any chemistry between Colin or Penelope. The book is vastly different about Lady Whistledown, therefore it changes the dynamic of Colin finding out, he has a more hands on approach to help her, less angsty, thus book Colin is more chaotic and has more humor in him, but i like show Colin more. He is more sensitive and less toxic, less the type that will decide your life the way he seems fit sort of thing. They kept his envy of her success and his purposeless struggle. The book has more space for their personal conversations and heart to heart but the show makes their relationship helthier for Penelope. I think you have to look at it as an adaptation that will have its differences. The show made things different and i am able to like both versions.
