- I've been using the Hubitat C8 since before it was released, here is my thoughts on this device and a few things that will help you get started if you aren't already a Hubitat user.

Thanks for the update David. 👍🏻
My pleasure Ron!
Hello David, thank you for the content. I have seen most if not all of your Hubitat videos when I was deciding if/which hub to get and try a little home automation. They were very helpful and are one of the reasons I got the C-8. I'm still a noob but have done a little bit of a lot of things. When I try something new your channel is one of my first stops to find straight forward honest information. I'm embarrassed to say that just today I noticed things like your view count and comment numbers and I was flabbergasted. I had assumed you would have 20-50 times those numbers based on your content and delivery. Hopefully it's just a matter of time. Please keep up the good work.
I appreciate the kindness and am glad that I could help you out. I do try my best to be open and honest and show people what I know as I did struggle a bit to get my hub doing what I wanted. Mostly because of over thinking or poor devices. Anyway thanks for taking the time to leave the comment, it's much appreciated.
C8 getting the job done. Have a great week, HDL. Smash.
You as well hydro, enjoy the summer weather.
Just started watching as I want to migrate to a local system. Thank you for the content! Very newbie question: When my devices (like Kasa switches) update their firmware, do I need to find and update the code for the Habitat?
I never have. And you are welcome for the content!
THanks for this. I just received my C8. I am currently on a vera device. They don't support anymore, so time to move on. I am a little worried about the Hubitat set up. Not very intuitive compared to Vera, which was nice and simple to add and program (rules). For converting, do I have to go through every device and take back to factory? Some of them I'll have to figure out how to do this, including Aeon in-wall nano devices. I'm worried how much of an ordeal this is going to be. Any suggestions?
A factory reset will be required in pretty sure. When I switched over from a different platform, smart things, I went from my most important devices to the least significant. Do 1 at a time, set up any automatons then on to the next. Add device, automate, then add to dashboard. After you do a few it goes pretty quick. Good luck!
I am running the C7 right now, with a C8 sitting on the shelf. Just reading the forums to see what problems people are having and how they are being solved until I jump into it. My C7 is working fine at the moment though.
When you click on an item, or "devices" / "apps" / "dashboards" / etc., do your pages load that fast as your video shows??? Mine seem to take a Loooooong time to load and it is painful.
Thanks.
It is that fast, might be what you're running, maybe the cpu is bogged down. Wifi device polling too short, under 5 minutes will do that. The migration is easy when you move it over. Hope that helps you out.
Cheap Battery bank will address the backup battery concern. Many charge and provide power at same time.
Agreed, that's what I've currently got running.
Hello sir, i would like to ask you if you have the back up "hub protect" subscription . Also if you know any other back up method for c8. Thank you!
I don't have the subscription, you can just download a backup and store it locally.
I can not keep my C7 online . Have to reboot every day. Any ideas what is tong ? Setup reserved ip address. But did not help.
The first place I would look is the router. The second, top right of the hubitat, any errors or warnings?
