I love 86. Even years after watching the last episode, I tear up from the last scene. The pain and suffering of the characters. The deserved happiness they finally attain. The fear of losing it in the next seasons(still an anime only). Such a great anime.
Man I love this one. I stumbled into it thanks to seeing the fido scene on a list of saddest pet scenes or something, so it was already completed by the time I watched it... Which made the production issues I later learned it had faced make the end product all the more impressive.
Thr anime that show us the brutality of war and racism, without showing cringe dying scene nor named irl evil party such as naz and communism. They built the story with their own story
@@Snaggledorf42 There’s not just one underlying message, but the main one as I think I said in the video is that of hope and perseverance. The 86 who survived kept going through horrors beyond comprehension to see the other side. Spearhead Squadron represents perseverance so much. Shin specifically went through it all and was suicidal throughout the second half, but seeing Lena again reignited a hope in him that made his life worth living again. 86 shows the hopeful side of living through horrors and the reward that awaits on the other side. Lena also persevered tremendously throughout the story. She fought against the system of her own country and proved herself to the 86 that doubted her and did not respect her at all in the beginning. She didn’t let anything stop her and kept going to do what she believed was right. All in the hope to catch up to her own squad in the end and to do her very best to change her country. So overall the I’d say the main underlying messages have to do with hope and perseverance, the light at the end of the tunnel or something like that.
@n0vafr757 Wow, you're quite idealistic. I thought it was about how governments used propaganda to trick and brainwash thier political enemies into fighting pointless wars in the hopes that they'd genocide themselves the process. Thereby ridding themselves of future domestic threats by using them as canon fodder against foreign rivals. Kinda like what's happening right now in Ukraine.
for me isn't on my top 10, maybe top 20, but still one of the best I have seen in several years, it would be higher but Bokurano fills many of the strong points on Eighty-six.
@@derederekat9051 i just really like it and i haven’t seen that much anime, but i will say this may not be the best stretch i’ve seen anymore, Frieren’s El Dorado was so good it might’ve taken it over
Really high quality video. 86 remains one of my favorite anime to this day, I’m glad it touches others the same way as well.
as someone who watches anime since the 90s, 86 is AMAZING and underrated. I completely was not expecting it to be as good as it was
