Drug discovery is the most straightforward net good of AI, in my opinion. It is hard to see how this could go wrong, and easy to see the many ways it could go right. We desperately need new drugs that work well for many diseases, as the entire global population ages, or in 20 years we will have a society overwhelmed by the aging and disease burden.
