1991 is my favorite year for F1. V8s, V10s, V12s most with 3 pedals and H-pattern shifters and some with electronic shifting made each car-driver combination unique sounding. You could tell which driver was comming around the bend just by listening to the engine and the downshifts. The cars were not too heavy on the downforce so there was closer racing and helped all the cars look absolutely beautiful. And the Drivers could actually see out of the car on all sides. 1989-1993 my favorite era.
Yes the V10s of the early 2000s are awesome. But thats ghe only thing from that era that stands out to me.

Wow, what a first lap only in the 3rd race of his F1 career. MS overtook (1992) world champion Mansell and challenged "rain king" Senna for 2nd place. Later in the race he passed Prost too. It was plain to see that a new legend was born, from whom you could expect a lot more brilliant races. And this youngster didn't disappoint at all, he lived up to expectations maximally.

And then there was the controversy over the 1994 Benetton that hadn't had it's launch control removed, the crashing with Hill to win the championship same year, the attempted same trick with Jacques Villeneuve in '97 and the "accidental crash" at Monaco qualifying in 2006. Yeah, he's not as spotless as some think.

Nice on board cam. While Senna and Schumacher's peak didn't coincide, it's still surreal to see old vids like this showing both in their youth. Hard to believe that Senna's been gone for more than 20 years while Michael is still in the middle of a painfully slow recovery (and hopefully he is making progress for the better after 2 and a half years). #KeepFightingMichael

Screw just the onboard, a streaming service for all the races of old would be a huge hit for FOM. However they prefer shoving a big ol hard one up our butts every chance they get. They are more concerned with going after the people who upload old races here on the tube of you. All the while not realizing that they are ostracizing the fans that make their sport possible. Maybe it would help if there wasnt a fossil at the helm.

Amazing also the difference in today's F1 cars that sound more like leaf blowers compared to the wonderful sounds of the old V12s and V8s. Even so, today's cars seem so much faster in the corners than the old days with all the downforce they use.

Nigel overtook him a lap or two after. Then Alesi did also I believe. And MSC did a mistake and spun. Senna also spun and reversed to try to hit Mansell (as they were fighting for the title) but he never did. Nigel overtook Senna, and then Nigel overtook Berger at Turn 4 in a magic move. And won. Simple.

It sounds very much like the 643's V12 that was used that year, which incidentally were the only other cars besides Benetton to be fitted with onboard cameras that weekend. Even on the final straight, you can see the gear changes aren't matching what we're hearing.

Amazing to see the lack of downforce. Some of these corners are full throttle nowadays.
Still, I do live these cars from back then. The sounds... do I need to say more about it? Every F1 fan wants the V8, V10 and V12 back! When will the FIA finally listen?
Then the clean looks, the way drivers fight their car through the corners. This was a superb era in the F1 history.

In fact it was Prost and Senna that won with 2nd rate cars - Prost in 1986 when Williams was best and Senna in 1990 when Ferrari was best and again in 1991 when Williams was best. Senna almost did it again in 1993 when his Mclaren wasnt even second best but THIRD best - beating Schumacher in the Benetton which was the 2nd best car by a whopping 5 wins to 1 and almost beating Prost in the Williams which was light years better than either the McLaren or Benetton. Schumacher on the other hand never won a single time in a 2nd rated car - he had the best car every single year he won.
