    Intending to confront the card-shark who he believes bushwhacked and robbed him, Little Joe instead decides to get his money back by betting the shady gambler that big brother Hoss will win the Founders' Day flapjack eating contest against champion Big Ed Simpson. But Hoss isn't sure that winning the five hundred dollar first prize is worth suffering through his little brother's training program, especially when it includes meals consisting of only carrots, apples and water...and no beer! Written by shepherd1138 on IMDb.com
    Reviews:
    "Little Joe is in big trouble. He gambles his money away, he loses something that belongs to Adam, he breaks a window in his own bedroom and then puts Hoss into a contest!! In a rip roaring comedy that the Bonanza series was always capable of, I enjoyed every single scene in this movie! For one episode, gone are the heavy melodramatic writing, serious plot lines and sad outcomes! Hoss and Little Joe do some great comedic acting in this one. Made in 1965, it is still timeless and has every element of enjoyment that the Bonanza series thrilled us with for so many years. This actually comes close to "Hoss and the Leprechauns" show in laughter and good fun." Written by JDouglasJ_1 on IMDb.com

    What made the comedy episodes of Bonanza so great was the chemistry and acting of Michael Landon and Dan Blocker. They were just fabulous together. Chemistry can't be taught and these two had it.

      Big brother haas???....whoze is dat?...heheheh....but yea they do have the actors chemsitry , so it's too bad the two actors did not make movies from a foriegn distrobutor for the usa audiences to watch....see nbc network would possiblibly not let them out of a contract to do a usa made movie...but a comedic movies filled with explosives made in some foriegn country, would be done and the two actors of mike landon and dan blocker would have cleaned up offa the profits from perhaps two movies made in the off season between each year of mar-mid july...from the years of 1962-1970....donja agree????...IMHO...just sayin'

      That was done to reuse clips and save $ on production. And by saving $, the guest actors/actresses got paid very well. At least that is what I read about show production.

    • @Catssandra13

      Maybe because their parents raised them to show respect. True this was only a TV show, but it does reflect a lot on the way families used to be. Respect - kinda' rare nowadays.

    • @user-pd7il3xz5j
      @user-pd7il3xz5j Рік тому

      Teach them properly and be a good role model then your kids will show respect regardless of the generation.
      One thing I noted in this episode was Hoss sitting in his father's chair at the dining room table. In the families I know, and in my home, children do not sit in the father's chair as a sign of respect.
