    ~LaQuisha Kenyatta~
    Hey Guys!
A lot of you have been asking me for a natural hair/alopecia update. I haven't given you all one because there is nothing to update. My hair still hasn't grown back on either side and after 4 years of being on this natural hair journey with alopecia, I doubt it ever will without a hair transplant. I have come to terms with the fact that I just won't have hair on the sides of my head and I am ok with that. I own a hair company, Mahogany Tresses, and throughout this process, I have learned how to make my own wigs. However, although my hair on the sides
(edges) refuse to grow the rest of my hair is flourishing. I did a 2nd big chop (I'll leave the link below) in August of 2017 because I wanted to give my hair another chance at being great. My hair actually grew back a lot healthier and thicker after the 2nd big chop but my edges said, "ha! you tried it" we ain't doing no business.

    *********Types of Alopecia***************
    1. Alopecia Totalis - Starts with small, round patches of hair loss and progresses until there is total scalp hair loss.
    2. Alopecia Universalis - all body hair is lost
    3. Androgentic Alopecia - also known as male-pattern baldness that occurs in both men and women.
    4. Alopecia Areata - the sudden or sometimes unrecognized falling out of hair in patches or spots. The affected areas are usually lighter in color due to the poor blood supply to the area.
    5. Diffuse Alopecia - also known as alopecia areata incognita, is a rare form of alopecia areata that affects primarily young females, and the hair loss on the head is radical and sudden.
    6. Postpartum Alopecia - is temporary hair loss experienced at the end of a pregnancy. Very little normal hair loss occurs during pregnancy but the sudden and excessive shedding takes place from 3-9 months after delivery. The growth cycle generally returns to normal within a year after the baby is delivered.
    7. Traction Alopecia - the most common balding disorder among young women and girls with highly textured hair. Baldness occurs when the hair is pulled tight meaning the hair is literally pulled out of the follicle, taking out the hair root and the bulb. Destroying the hair shaft may cause white bumps and pus, or scaling may occur around the affected area.

LaQuisha, the tell-tell sign of edges that do not grown is damage denoted by smooth shiny skin. You have hair on your edges so that tells me that your follicles still work (perhaps the left side does have more damage due to the 2nd degree burn). Have you taken a break from wearing wigs? It looks like your hair is breaking off - probably just as quickly as it is growing. The edges receive the most damage from wigs. (1) It's the most fragile hair, and (2) it's where the wigs are anchored (glued). Caps and grips constantly move (grabbing and rubbing the edges) and the wig itself will move--even slightly, which can easily rub your hair off. If I were you, I'd take a break from them, use coconut and amla oil on your follicles, and let it grow in. Also, look into drinking nettles tea. You mentioned all the other healthy measures in this video which do help. Best of luck with your wig business!

Woman Of God Having no edges is a sickness lol come on. No offense but this girl look like she is from West Africa & most of the time they have “bald hair lines, big 5heads”. . It’s looks like it’s in there gene. My African friends clown each other saying “oh you have that Nigerian head”. I’m am not trying to say don’t ask God for healing but when you pursing God for something like this is just seems messed up. I wish I had big ol bitties should I ask God to bless me to get some nice CCs? Nah I’m not gonna ask God to bless my mind & for him to show me how beautiful I am the way he made me. Y’all people who don’t have edges (bald) are just born that way. Love who you are, I love you & I don’t even know you. I want the best for all of God children.

I just turned 21 and I have done everything in my power to cover the fact I was born with no edges and haven't had any my whole life... it is such a struggle. I've tried everything and after having my baby girl my right side looks just like your left side. I'm so sick and tired of feeling trapped inside myself fighting everyday to love my hair... the things is my hair is beautiful. I do love it. My edges have never been a part of my life and am just having a very hard time accepting that and feeling sexy around my husband without a headband. Thank God my husband loves me lol he encourages me to take it off stop covering it and love myself but that's is so much easier said than done.

I know that you may not want to continue to update but I think it's awesome that you did and if I were you then I'd continue to do that. You're helping other women just like you that have this issue. I love your transparency. I'm #teamthinedges. I'm like you in that I've tried to be like other women by wearing heavy braids and this has caused my hair to thin out and fall out sometimes. I've definetly felt insecure or embarrassed about it and I don't wear my natural hair out much although the rest of it is healthy and thriving. Jamacian black castor oil and blue magic helped a little but again the braids are counter productive if they're heavy. I also love that you're in the wig business. I review hair occasionally. But that's perfect for you and others like you. We all deserve to feel beautiful and I can tell that you've gotten to the point where you love the skin you're in. Great video.

Hopefully you see this because this may help you. I used black castor oil with peppermint oil, lemongrass and cedar oil (essential oils) from walmart forgot the name but it's the all natural one, I mixed it all together and applied it every single night & wrapped my hair with a silk scarf for the first time in my life. Oh and wrote in my prayer journal that God would grow back my edges & asked my kids to pray for mommy lol. & I wasnt even specific about the amount, I straight poured everything in my hand separately rubbed it all together and rubbed it into my scalp, specifically my edges. My mom & sister were shocked bc I am not one to spend time on my hair. I had my daughter may 2019, 2 months after her birth all my edges fell out and I was skin bald! Within 3 months of doing what I said my edges are literally about an inch and its October 2019. Before this I never took much care of my hair bc I'm lazy but this literally worked so maybe try this . 😉

Use coconut oil, mixed with castor oil, gotta get Jamaican or Haitian castor oil, peppermint oil, fresh aloe, fresh avocado, lavender oil, fresh papaya and 4 cloves of garlic and blend all together and here's your edges and hair growing back. I grew up without no edges as a child and my parents used to take me to the dr but nothing works until my mom did this. Once you blend them with no water, cook it down on low heat, let it cool and use a cheese cloth to drain it twice so you can be left with just the oil.

Have you tried Jamaican black castor oil? That’s what grew my edges and I see UA-cam videos about how it helps with edges and nape. I’m a witness that it can help with edges. You just have to remain consistent. I’m sure what you’re going through is hard but I just don’t want you to give up. I really have faith in your hair. Lol I just can’t see how you can get collarbone length with no edges. Your edges may be more sensitive and you may just have to be patient, gentle and determined. If you haven’t tried ABSOLUTELY everything then just trying won’t hurt regardless of time or money needed. 8 grand for the hair transplant is a lot of money but if this really bothers you, no price is worth your self esteem and happiness. You’re a beautiful woman and it really hurt my heart to see how upset this made you.

My hair looked exactly like your before minoxodil. Combination of genetics and years of tight braids. People bash minoxodil because you have to use it forever otherwise your hair falls out again, but it literally takes about 20 seconds every 3 days to apply it, you have to brush your teeth every day otherwise they will fall out, all I'm saying it's worth a try.
Also it took me years to get to collarbone length and you get there in 18 months lol wut. Your hair looks great.

At the hair line, it grows short but thicker - everyone in my family has this hairline though, so it is genetic. That being said it looks MUCH better than it did before (Although admittedly I started with peach fuzz - minoxodil made them thicker and brought the hairline forward)

  • @julzalta6466
    @julzalta6466 4 роки тому +3

Having no edges (from traction alopecia as I can see) and having long hair in the part that are not touched by it are not exclusive. Because traction alopecia is a desease of the cells on the scalp and having long hair has a lot to do with breakage on the length, so it's two partially different things. That's why I think it's misleading that some women seem to link long hair and healthy hair so much, when it's not synonymous at all. You can have a perfectly healthy scalp and short hair, and long hair with a struggling scalp. And also each women has a different sensibility so some women will be fine with some things and some women won't.

You need to change your whole regime.
    The way you eat,
    How you treat your hair
How much heat you put in your hair
Letting other folks put hands in your hair cuz some folks are envious and they will literally mess your hair up.
Eat: Almonds, papayas, carrots, Brazil nuts, cucumbers, pumpkin seeds, raisins, pumpkins, buckwheats, sesame seeds, cantaloupe, collard greens, kelp, kale, dried apricots, broccoli, hemp seeds,
Use fenugreek seeds that will help your hair grow infuse them with oils follow curly proverbz on UA-cam she has a DIY for Aryvuedic hair oils.
Use vibrating hair scalp massager, derma hair roller from Amazon, and once you strengthen your hair use rice water, look that up on UA-cam, deep conditioning is important every time you wash, use liquid biotin and drink plenty of water so you won’t get so much acne. No heat in your hair, be patient on the process of hair growth,

I've had the same problem for 4 years. I've accepted the fact that traction alopecia is not going to be reversable overnight. It will take time. My edges are slowly growing but are so thin. I also believe i have iron deficiency anemia. I'm having all the symptoms of it. I recently incorporated castor oil back into my routine. I've also started infusing my oil mixture with bhrami and amla powder. They blend in pretty well when i do flat twists. This style last for 2 weeks at a time. I've excepted it so im not hoping for them to grow back right away. Everything takes time.

I feel your pain. I had and still am dealing with traction alopecia. It was the senegalese braids that did me in and the fact that I kept them in too long. Instead of not putting them in once I started having hair loss I kept putting them in to hide my bald spots. Dumb on my part.
My journey was similar to yours. I started with Rogaine before I seeked a Dermatologist that specialized in hair. That was an epic fail. I eventually with to the dermatologist and she started me on rogaine, spironolactone, dermasmooth as well as monthly hair injections. She warned me that it would take at minimum 3 years to see consistent hair growth and it may not all come back due to follicular damage. I have been going for 2 years now to get hair injections. I stopped rogaine a year ago and now I'm on oral minoxidil, metformin cream dermasmooth and still getting monthly injections. I wear my hair shorter. It was doing really good until I used store bought henna (I was being impatient and didn't want to wait on my natural henna). Needless to say my hair fell out in my trouble areas (mainly the crown). I cut all of it off and started again. I was damn near bald. That was 2 months ago. My hair has filled in really nicely. I'm also using only Mane products and if my scalp feels raw or unhealthy I do a aloe vera/raw Manuka honey scalp mask on just my trouble spots.
Try to not give up. You have the face for a short look. Go almost bald if you have to. Find you a hair specialist and trust the process. Good luck!

But genetics and damage are dominant and were exacerbated by heavy styling. I’m currently growing mine back after yrs if back to back braiding and genetically thin edges.
