You will NOT find any content that is similar across the gaming industry, which should tell you how unique CIG is and how stuff organically just comes into existence where CR approves and says "let it be done!". That is why I just love how Starcitizen is evolving into something that is one of kind game that when it gets closer to finish, it is THE game that EVERYONE wants to try out and play indefinitely. It's history in the making.

Rivers are the precursor to roads, or so I believe, and IF you can get rivers , lakes, ponds and (for want of expansion) seas and shores right, you can get highways, roads and tracks right.
However, for this to work PROPERLY you need outposts, settlements, villages, towns and cities PLUS the populations (and the requisite industries) to justify their existence.
All accounted for by CIG explicitly, yeah.
Man I wanted roads in the game since 3.9 or 3.14.
Imagine driving your greycat roc from loreville out to the wilderness to find gems to mine and like burn a few hours chilling and exploring.
Taking a main road towards outpost x and then straying offroad when you scan something down.
Appreciated the dive into informal game dev and also was cool to hear the pride Will had for his Team's successes. Keep being awesome.

I love the Yela Yell. That was perfect. You should definitely add a radio for music like this in game.
Yeah, and the ability to play those adverts in game or contents viewable in game so you can be in your hab turn on the TV and watch Star Citizen Live etc.
absolutely love this episode. love the talk on rivers :) and the stories from QA. As a Software Engineer i know all too well of the "yep, this work,s 100%, here you go" only to have it handed back to you because you didn't think that the user would try to type the entire works of shakespear into a box that looks like it holds the word "DOG" in a snug way.
Great listening to Will. He's very clear and explains things so well, in plain english. Makes it very easy to understand the processes. Obviously passionate about his work. 👍

Yeah, he talked so passionately and confidently -- rivers are in great hands. Can't wait to see what he does with the acid/volcanoes (and you know they're coming because CR will say "...this planet is nothing but volcanoes, but it's rich in minerals, and it'll be so cool flying around while the lava is shooting up, and you'll have to be careful not to land too close to the lava or it'll burn your ship, so you'll need to land far enough away and... yeah, we're definitely going to add that to the game!")

Not only is RiverGuy keen, but he's got a very rare knack to just go off on a deeply technical topic and say it in a clear, cohesive manner that most could understand. I'm jealous.

Once you have these, which (arguably) breathe life into a world or place, you can then build content around them that players can take advantage of and do and learn from. Especially IF you are planning to have player involvement in terms of settlements as homes (spawn points) with farming, small manufactury, etc as part of world building/engagement.............
Where can I get one of those ships that are on the desk?
I'll be honest you need taller mountains and deeper / wider canyons. "Low" flying is just nose down, spinning, and side to side.

They know, that's why they're working on tech for larger features
The issue here is all of their planets being 1/10 (1/4 for moons) scale due to resource constraints (larger planet = more work required to make that planet detailed, larger textures, etc.) If they can get past the issue of streaming assets into their game at a reasonable speed (they talked about it in this episode) then it's possible they can make everything real-scale again. In the original builds of 3.0 ArcCorp was real scale and worked fine, however I suspect they got issues when streaming it from the servers instead of a local developer build or something like that.
