I’ll never forget when I screenshot John McAfee’s post on social media while he was in prison stating that if he is found dead in his cell he promises that he did not commit suicide, he was murdered. Sometime later, he was found dead in his cell by apparent suicide. McAfee was no Angel by any means, but this guy was clearly murdered.

This doc really filled in the blanks from when he was on the run back in 2012. I was completely fascinated by all the pages he was posting online while on the run. Completely mad. Seeing him actually on the run in this documentary, is even more insane of what he was writing over a decade ago. I would not be surprised if he actually is alive, seriously!

had to interview this guy on a business show a few times. dude was wild. camera crew went to see him once and they say they walked in and saw a table piled high with guns, cash, and a small pile of coke.
He's one of those guys you never know what he's going to do next which it's why it's better to not hang around them. An accident waiting to happen and of course he'll blame you for it.

When you suddenly get more money than you can spend in a lifetime, everything does become a videogame, where nothing you can come up with will make you feel any better. Add some drugs and it doesn't take much to derail a mind. Never sober and always paranoid rich person, that only knows how to medicate his worries away, while also trying to live a luxury life that is incompatible with his personality type. Bob probably would've lived an easier life, if he never got rich off his software. He would've been happier, staying poor. But then, Netflix would have one less topic to explore for content.

He was your favorite bad guy's bad guy. A bad guys bad guy. What a legend. Amazing doc. Vice slipped, Netflix gripped.
Check out OKi(on UA-cam), his documentary on McAfee is amazing. I’d say it’s better than this one Netflix pushed- no disrespect to the director of the Netflix documentary, because it is great work that was done.

This man was a living legend to the day he went. This outdoes any fiction, this should be seen by young & old for its entertainment value, as an interesting personality and as a peek into a genious of personal branding.

@@EmanDeMoan their most prominent docs are all about narcissists and sociopaths. There definitely interesting to watch but you don't want to be involved with these people if at all possible unless you like the crazy, which some do. Just watching McAfee is challenging and also he reminds me of my borderline mother because you never know what they're going to do next. Walking on eggshells baby.

I thought I knew everything but the last couple of years were blurry. This clears it up.
I like how he was a self proclaimed Mr. Robot and yet he had those two journalists send a photo to Vice that contained metadata which compromised their location. He was obviously extremely intelligent, but at the same time perpetually contradictory.
Seems to me like he loved the attention more than he actually believed anyone was out to get him.

I had one of the last interviews in the world with John on my UA-cam channel before he was arrested in Spain. Had tons of weird stuff happen in my personal life shortly thereafter and was devastated when I heard he passed as he was a hero to me growing up. I hope so much he is still alive plotting against the wicked of the world.

Re-listening to it, toward the end, it was very clear he was leaving long lasting world advice, his advice to the people of this planet.

@@TS-jd9qs 1 Week after my interview with him I had both my bank accounts frozen for “fraud”, all credit cards frozen for “fraud”, paypal account suspended, cell phone service suspended with more as well. There was never evidence of this “fraud”, and when I called every place nobody could help (transferred around). Only when I announced I was done with making/posting content, is when I regained access to my finances all on the same day. Ended up deleting all social media except UA-cam/Discord. I’ve interviewed other people in even higher up positions in the last decade that I will never release with some actual wild stuff.

He was one crazy dude, genius level. I was thinking he’s probably bi-polar, but I don’t think that really matters - he was just one of those people who absolutely did whatever he wanted and lived his life to the max at full throttle. His Intelligence made him millions and that let him go so full on - but life and society just doesn’t cope well with extreme characters like this who refuse to play by the rules.

It's not something that netflix actually made, as the movie was made back in 2012. I haven't finished it yet, so maybe netflix decided to help bring it up-to-date, and that is the part that netflix made? As of now, IMO, it's a haphazardly made movie. But that might be due to the subject of the film.
The answer is that theory and practice are two different things, humans are far more driven by their cognitive biases than we are willing to admit. We talk of competence and intelligence from a personal perspective looking out rather than an impersonal perspective looking in so our interpretations create cognitive biases we are not consciously aware of.. can one restrict the other? From a position of personal or peer interpretation it can and does throughout most of society purely because it is far easier to suggest someone isn't intelligent enough or competent than it is to admit there is no real skill involved in obtaining the experience to excel at that task... As I said we tent to shy away from the raw reality of such questions.... Now you know controversially why this is the case....REAL TALK

Not sure if the story is true, but during an interview McAfee held a loaded gun against his head and while he was pulling the trigger over and over again the bullet never got triggered and didn't explod through his temple. But as soon as he pointed the gun somewhere in the sand it banged when he pulled the trigger.
McAfee apparently wanted to show the interviewer that reality is not what we think it is, and that we're operating on false assumptions of reality. He truly was a madman 😆🙏
What? The only way this works is if it's a revolver. So, with that said, he either knew the precise chamber the round was in, or had PURE luck.

every proclaimed genius that has affected this world in any way or just is known to be a genius was also considered "crazy". It takes madness to get an idea of the madness of this world. You have to be able to think in ways no "normal" person would think to gain knowledge no normal person would have.
