It is ironic that most victims don’t recognize Japanese were invaders during WW2 according to a professor from Nagasaki .He joined a NGO named The Japan Council against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs (原水爆禁止日本協議会, Gensuibaku Kinshi Nihon Kyōgikai), usually abbreviated Gensuikyō in Japanese .They have sought a worldwide ban on nuclear weapons since 1955 while the awarded NGO members calling themselves SUFFERERS.What I find even more ridiculous is he says the fate of those victims are NEGLECTED .Have Western governments ever told their citizens about Nanking MASSACRE and other atrocities in Asia such as Bataan Death March, which killed 75,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war??

So they were not sufferers? I find it hard to understand how them expressing their legitimate grievances amounts to them rejecting Japanese war crimes and aggression. Very far reaching conclusion when you consider the fact that the entire group condemned anything Shinzo Abe, aka the Nanjing revisionist, did to break the pacifist constitution of Japan. Being opposed to one war crime doesn't mean not knowing the other. But of course you can't register that, because you seem hellbent on justifying the atomic bombings, as if anything can justify something like that. Two crimes don't make one right. Killing innocent civilians on purpose on such a mass scale is an atrocity. Them protesting against it now is important because nuclear holocaust is still a possibility, and needs current protestations. n the other hand, the aggressive fascism of 1940s japan has realistically died down. Fascism is dead in that form. Nuclear bombs are much more potent than then. But of course if you used your head, you wouldn't type this out in the first place.

Very good choice, I had been fearing that they might stoop to picking some guy directly involved in NATO and the ongoing war in eastern Europe. Jens Stoltenberg used to be the Norwegian PM, I'm sure there have been some people lobbying to give him the award, as a "Man of Peace" - but that would have been a t>rrible choice. Instead, this is a worthy and timely pick!

They are victims because they launched the war and failed, yet they refuse to accept their failure. Meanwhile, America generously offers them warmth, but it is deadly. Now they pretend to be innocent. Until now, they have not admitted the crimes they committed in Asia, so this is truly a Nobel Crime Prize

  • @ejfeg779

I can not understand why Japan should be regarded as a victimized country even though the decision of the U.S. was to stop their atrocity toward East and South asian countries and some other countries in Europe.

    • @gonebytrain
      @gonebytrain Місяць тому +3

Because when the reason the US dropped the bomb was not to stop the war, it was already over at that point. Japan has already reached out to the allies for peace, and the Japanese military had already been defeated far within their own borders. So the US had to hurry up and test out both types of bombs as soon as possible, or else they would not be able to justify the cost of making them and they wanted full control over Japan, as they didn’t want Japan to end up in a similar situation as Germany, split between Russia and the allies. But they probably don’t teach that part of history in the US..
This is not me defending Japans actions, just saying that the bombs were never a justifiable measurement, and hopefully we will never have any other nuclear bombs launched again.

Very adequat and important! It has already been seven years since ICAN received this award, but the development since then have unfortunately shown that the nuclear threat by no means disappeared with the Cold War.
Congratulations to the Nihon Hidankyõ, but also to the Norwegian Nobel Committee, showing a solid understanding of both history and the current world situation. Those with the right to propose candidates for the prize and who find it worthy to nominate representatives of a military alliance with nuclear weapons as a strategy, are together with everyone who praises a logic of deterrence definitely on the wrong track when it comes to understanding the criteria of the peace prize.
As much as it is about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, this is about the here and now and everyone's future, which can in no way be overstated. It remains to be seen whether Norway will finally ratify the UN ban on nuclear weapons, and whether any leading Norwegian politicians choose to refrain from applause also during this Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

@@user-specdsds1555 We all know that history. Atomic bombs or now a days nuclear arsenal in their shear capacity and magnitude of destruction dwarf anything that can kill humans. Armies can kill scores of people but such weapons could destroy the humankind itself. No country, neither victors nor losers, that was involved on either side in the two world wars actually has anything to be proud of except perhaps the only fact that they were able to overcome that dark chapter in human history.

And the atomic bombs didn’t bring peace, Japan had already lost. The US just needed to test both types of bombs as soon as possible to justify the cost of making them and show other countries what they had made to scare them. Which then lead to the Cold War instead, so technically it just lead to another type of war, not peace.

Even though Japan had clearly lost, they refused to surrender. It wasn't a matter of not surrendering yet, but of not being willing to surrender at all. I recommend you to search word gyokusai.

It should not be given to the atomic bomb victims of the invading country, but to anti-war organizations in countries invaded by Japanese aggression, such as the Korean, Chinese, Indonesian and Taiwanese victims of the comfort women (hundreds of thousands of young women who were taken by the Japanese military and forced to live as sex slaves), who are active in the anti-war movement.

However, when people seek world peace, it doesn’t matter if they are Japanese or what. I pray that your perspective broadens and that you are able to pursue peace with a heart full of love.

We should separate bad soldiers from innocent people. Certainly, Japan's top brass and military have done many bad things in the past, and a full apology is in order. But in any case, we must remember that it is the same civilians who are being hurt badly in any country, even if it is Japan.
There are those who believe that civilians should not be harmed, but contrary to that belief, there are many who argue that the innocent Japanese who were harmed had it coming, and that civilians who lived peacefully were “bad guys” and deserved to be harmed. This is a strange contradiction: to affirm genocide while denying genocide.

If Japanese people were truly remorseful, the awarded organization would call themselves an anti-aggression, anti-invasion, anti-war and anti-nuclear organization.
Japan collaborated with Nazi Germany and italy(Axis powers) and Japan invaded Asia and the Pacific, killing more than 20 million Asians. Instead of reflecting on that, they only talk about the damage their being bombed and play the victim.
The Japanese organization that won the Nobel Peace Prize today was formed by survivors of the nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and I hope they don't "only emphasize the damage they suffered" by starting a war of aggression.
But if you watch the video of A-bomb survivors demanding an apology from the U.S. military, it looks like they haven't come to their senses yet.
