With the Magalas inspiration about Angels and Demons the one word I can think that it represents is "Redemption". Gore Magala changing into Shagaru Magala is kinda like saying that even evil creature can be saved by something good. However those whose evilness is beyond redemption will fall no matter how anyone or anything tries to save it. It's a possible reference to Chaotic Gore Magala- An evil beyond Redemption.
It's possible. There are tropes in media known as "Asceneded Demons" which could easily coincide with how Gore evolves into Shagaru Magala in the series, so it's "Ascending" to its godly status!
Wow u know I used to say that Chaotic was like a fallen angel while Shagaru was the angel and Gore is the demon or devil but never knew I was the only one to have thought of this but for Sunbreak and it based on mythical creatures got to say the Magala monsters are perfect for this.
Sunbreak's theme wouldn't be complete if they didn't add the Magala monsters, they just fit perfectly for this expansion even when it comes to potential inspirations!
Shagaru's depiction as a heavenly figure coincides with its influence on rival Gores, itself deliberately sabotaging their metamorphosis to induce the Chaotic form that leads to a grisly end, a reflection of God casting Lucifer from the heavens. Fitting this is how every Gore aspires to become a Shagaru, much as Lucifer's pride drove him to crave to take God's place, which of course was considered an affront by the original.
They really went above and beyond making this species into something monotheistic. Even during MH4 they believed Shagaru was named after a form of god so it's only fitting that the god would cast down any would be oppressors, even its own kind. It all just fits even outside of Sunbreak!
I do wise he was in world. I know because of covid that wasn't the case but still to see him have a turf war with nergigante the world eater would have been cool 😎
The Shagaru Magala is obviously based on the Ophanim. The Angels that occupy the floor of God's throneroom. They are shaped like wheels(hence the wheel of time) and are covered in eyes which makes them look a lot like Shagaru weapons.
The Ophanim theme was actually something I didn't think of when it came to the monster itself. I knew the weapons were highly inspired by the Ophanim based on the eye design like you said and their names being based on different theistic themes, but I could have added how the weapons served as the Ophanim with the weapons designed to revolve around the godly entity (Shagaru) similar to how they are portrayed in the mythos!
It would be interesting if Capcom Say that the magala family was a extremely powerful assets in the great dragon war using their plague to make human Force fight each other or powering up some elder dragons
It's doubtful the Frenzy would be a positive effect on monsters but if the text in Sunbreak is anything to go by, if they were present during war, they would be considered biological weapons!

There's always potential for that to still happen in future Monster Hunter games, let's see what 6th Gen will have in store for us!

And Heaven's Wheel is their other alias.

Interesting they base on eclipse 🤔
Even their intros are obvious nods to how eclipses work, Capcom really hammered that theme in!
