We have this car. We have these symptoms. Maybe two years ago our friend took a liking to our CR-V. I told her to look for the base model with the 2.4L (old-style) engine. Another friend has a 2011 with about 200 Grand on it with that engine. -good call...for HER!
The good news is shortly after the post above, I bought regular-old fuel injector cleaner at the supermarket. We dose a full tank of gas at the beginning of each season and 13,000 miles later the dashboard is still working exactly as it should.
Thank you for this video. I have been looking for a breakdown on how to do this repair. I have a 2018 Honda CRV with around 90K miles and we got the same code and warning lights. Took it to the dealer and they diagnosed the fuel injectors but wanted $1700 for the job.
I thought Honda extended the warranty on 2017 and 2018 Hondas to 6 years and unlimited mileage because of the oil dilution issue? They posted a bulletin for it. Might be worth looking into. Might not apply because apparently it's only some states or something. But if it does I would argue with them that this should be covered under the power train extended warranty especially since it happened because of the oil dilution bs.
This happened to me too and tried fighting with them about extended warranty and they said fuel injectors aren’t apart of the power train. Just curious what part numbers did you have to order to get this done. Thanks
@@hak2297 I have a 2018 and I had the same issue at 53K, was covered under warranty. All the lights illuminated in my dash pulled the codes and I got misfire cylinder 1. took it to the dealership and said the injectors were covered up to 70k. I hope it does not come back but if it does, I will do it myself. Thanks for the video @factotum Life.
@KROWARIZONA my cr-v it's almost 100k and since, no issues with the injectors. I had a high fuel pump malfunction at around 92 k miles but it was covered under the extended warranty
Experienced the same symptoms, except the warning light would disappear and reappear after a couple of days. Our '17 CRV has 57,520 miles on it. I thought it might be the computer module, however, the Honda dealership said it was the fuel injectors. Repair cost total was $ 1,492 (after $ 125 reward points deducted). I doubt I will be purchasing another CRV in the future. This is my 4th CRV.
I had all 4 replaced, it was covered under my 1000,000 power train warranty. I bought a 2017 touring in 2018 with 5,000 miles. It was a certified pre owned, I will never buy used again, will be only pre owned. Zero cost under warranty. I had 94,000 miles on it when they were replaced
If you park, cut the engine, restart it: the check engine light turns off and engine returns to running smoothly. It typically will CEL and run rough, low power etx...when the driver gives heavy throttle input. Floors the gas pedal in other words, since injectors cannot increase fuel flow that quickly to keep up with the sudden increase in air volume. You get a lean mixture, maybe an after fire, back fire or pinging (detonation). I KNOW that cutting engine is counter intuitive. So don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anything was done incorrectly. Everyone reacts different, especially if there is a naivety about what actually is happening. Our crv did the same thing to my wife. It is a 2.4 and had 204,000 miles on the clock when it happened. Luckily it's a pretty straight forward fix. Thank you for the video
I bought a used 2019 Honda CRV with 50k miles and hour after I left the dealership all the warning lights came off. I took the car to Honda and they diagnosed the fuel injector was causing the problem. It was fixed (the dealership paid the repair $1,800). It’s been a week since it was fixed and so far no warning lights. If someone wants to know if the warning lights came back again please reply.
Thank you for posting. Same issue, but no loss in fuel economy, RPM is steady. no misfires and very smooth acceleration. I may look at the battery terminals. Had it at Honda and they said injectors but would not tell me the code. So that made me question their validity. Why not tell me what code they got. ?? Anyhow will check the terminals as that can be cause as well from the research I have done. I just changed out the body control module as the security alarm would not shut off. Only have 60K on this. The quality of Honda has gone way down.

Back in the day engines coming out of Detroit were worn out by 100,000 miles. Nowadays fuel efficiency requirements demand tolerances and technology which have also resulted in engines which will easily last 300K with proper maintenance. With almost identical engine I have no doubt the 11th Gen Accord will siphon your wallet turbo fashion after that joke of a 36k warranty runs out 😂
Your comment is correct. I own a 2019 crv. The 1.5 is terrible. I have owned hondas since 1991 have seen problems like 1.5 liter has.
Is there any way to determine health of the cat? Our family CR-V just had Fuel Injector replacement done following P0172 code. Argued with dealership for a week that it needed service bulletin applied but they are claiming it's not making oil (no oil dilution by gasoline).
Hi good video that should not be happening on a 85k Honda shame on u Honda crv
You fast-forward skipped over the CRUCIAL part I'm looking for, Installing the INJECTORS! The uh....other *half* of the job you're showing.
You show cleaning, then fast forward while they're shoved in, appear to try to show the camera something with chipmunk hyper-speed voice, then move right onto the rail. That seal with the GDI injectors is a crucial, essential step that is just ignored!
Trying to decipher if I need the special tool for "forming" the white seals at the tips or if I can slowly insert without destroying them.
I didn't use a special tool for forming the seals. With that said, the seals were already installed on the injectors as opposed to installing new seals on existing injectors. Maybe I got lucky?
