Hey djtlmtv, thanks for sharing this... I saw dj Eskei83 live in DC last week at the US final Redbull threestyle. He is a genius. So, if understood, routines can be created by doing short preedited miniset (kind of battle tracks with cues)... So how do you work out the BPMs of each tracks if u import them as a block in your serato decks? U get what I mean?
I also have mini routines in my crates. very nice to just go there when the time comes and start hitting them with stuff i know will work. or just have a "go-to" crate when you need.
Nice! Hope to see more interviews! As a RadioDJ I do prepare sets as I cannot see the crowd, and all the crowd is split up and each individual will feel and react a different way. So the day before I prepare a playlist going from one tune to an other figuring out wich ones goes well together. And before my set I mix the playlist to figure out any mistakes or cool blends that I should do in my mix. And then I half improvise and harf do a routine from what I learn in my track selection and rehearse. Takes me about 3-4h for a 1h set. In a club/party environnement I plan my first 3 songs to get my self confortable then I just improvise all long. I hope i'm not writing this to empty air please let me know if this was useful to you dear reader lol
For my own radio show (2 hour mix show) I used to just do it freestyle, but somehow (in my own studio) I was always in “the zone” when I did that show so it felt good. I’ve done guest sets at stations and after those sets it never felt right and I realized that I missed the feedback of the crowd and it would have been better to prepare a set for that guest radio performance. So I understand exactly what you mean
I have MASSIVE MASSIVE RESPECT for Eskei83! Super talented DJ, brilliant technical skills, and versatility in his sets. Think I've watched that 2014 Redbull Finals set like 100 times. #Respect . Nice one djTLM on getting him on the series, keep em coming! You should get DJ Puffy on here as well. That's another DJ I highly respect. Keep the #ShareTheKnowledge series going! Got us hooked!
Puffy was there that night! I had talked to him there earlier in the night and he was down to do the interview/talk, but somehow things always get hectic during those events and before I knew it he was already behind the decks or doing something else and we didn't get the chance to connect anymore. But I'll still make that happen another time
I can't believe there is someone with the same DJ name as me commenting 80% of what I would have said! That's cool, and kinda funny at the same time =) Nevertheless great video and always a good mentor and inspiration, both of you ESKEI and TLM ! Keep up the good work ! Greetings from Bavaria Germany
Great interview. Myself for the better of the last 40 years have predominantly used mini sets that I’d practiced over and over. Depending on what the event is, I’ll decide whether i’ll do those mini sets live or put them in a serato crate. Great work @djTLMtv
Anybody that would complain about the audio or video quality of this knowledge session would complain about it being cold in December so shake them haters off TLM and keep representing brother! Great interview!
Thanks! Funny thing is I did not mention the quality in the intro for so called haters. I could care less about that 😄 I wanted to mention it as a message for other people who make videos for youtube: the quality of the footage is not the most important thing, it’s all about the content so don’t be afraid to post it 👍🏽
Thanks. I have a podcast though. #ShareTheKnowledge is also available as an audio version and I’ll be adding items like this to that podcast. Having a show with guests would be a more difficult task due to my location. But we’ll see what the future brings 👍🏽
Sick. Just saw this.
Thanks again bro!
Special thanks to Eskei83 for sharing the knowledge!
