I think ash thinks that all disease are manageable by medication. He is still young eventually he will learn medication most of the time does nothing but extend your life with the disease. If there's one thing worse about the internet than the rise of the online tough guy, it's the widespread misuse of words. In this case "cope," which is not a noun. I think "coping mechanism" is what they mean, but it's used incorrectly here. A coping mechanism is a positive thing that helps one make it through tragedy, not, as implied here, a delusion or lie that someone is allegedly telling because they aren't admitting to be as devastated by something as you think they should be. Misuses like that make this kind of thing painful to listen to. They sound like 15 year Olds trying to be hip.
