    This video came in handy for me since I'm in the middle of the process right now. Did all the mechanical today, gonna finnish the wiring tomorrow. I needed to confirm which wires to splice into.
    Regarding the feedthrough hole in the mount that you had to drill out. Your version of the mount was designed to house the 6 inch unit, which has thinner cables and smaller connectors. My mount which is a later revision has a bigger hole from factory, since Sea-Doo from 2022 is having the 7 inch unit as an option.
    Thx for the video!

    Watched your video may times. and others for similar installs. All had success with sending something down the air tubes to the back. I tried CA hose, pvc hose, drain snake, electrical fish tape. Nothing got past the first obstruction in the bow. Ended up drilling a hole in the storage bin, then up through the fire extinguisher plastic in the hinged bin cover. (GTX 300 limited, 2022). Wasn't into the 7 pieces to be removed to get access under the storage bin.
    The SS angle worked perfectly, thank you for that design. Found that a 3/4" grommet doesn't fit a 3/4 hole, just fits through it. So i'm on a goggle search for what grommet I need for a 3/4" hole and a 1/4" cable.
    Hopefully i'll be able to get out on the poind tomorrow to see how the transducer is working
    Thanks so much for your details and commentary.

    Just finished up with the complete install. Your guidance on transducer install was very helpful! FYI - for those with a 2018 GTX, the fish pro mounting bracket does not fit perfectly….Will need to use dremel to make modification to mirror section on sea doo and will need to cut an opening to run wires to mounting area….no big deal…just a little scary at first..😅

  • @imrikkibobbi

    Something I was able to do as a minor tweak to your process, using a dremel I cut some of the pieces down behind the hole for the wiring to allow the transducer to slide in at a better angle, then using my drill press so I could use both hands to hold the mirror mount I used a step drill bit to slowly drill the hole wider till the transducer connection easily passes through now. With that done I cut and re put a line in 3a rapid blow fuse AFTER I passed the wiring through the hole passed the transducer wiring to my hole still looks factory fresh and new and you can't see any drilling/drill marks. Thanks to your video I just was able to modify the process and keep the cosmetics of the factory produced mount. Thanks for that and the L bracket idea to mount the transducer !! Unfortunately with my model being a 21 I will have to drill a hole at the rear for the cable to pass through but such is life, i'll just have to do a great job of sealing it, I'm working on using a rubber stopper sliced 1/2 way from one side and drilled out center with the marine adhesive to create a super water tight seal. When I upload a video of it all i'll absolutely tag you as you lead me to all my modifications to do this.

      Just finished the install on my 2018 GTX. Heads up for those with a 2018….the kit works, but you will need to make some adjustments. 1. The bracket does not fit perfectly. I needed to use a dremel tool to remove material around the main bolt on the ski mirror unit. Also, there is not a hole allowing you to pass the wires into the ski. Had to use dremel to cut a hole…..not a huge deal, but the 2018 is a little different.

    Heads up, I'm pretty sure you don't need to remove the mirror itself. The mount that screws in to that area just behind the mirror just covers it, so it's safely hidden in there should I need to reverse it. -- One last comment. The wiring that comes with the 62cv kit from seadoo is considerably smaller than the cables you got with your 73, hence the reason to drill out the hole in the mounting bracket to fit the wires. Looks great. Curious if you are still going after the NMEA2000 engine gateway to be able to see the engine data on the Garmin?

    • @anthonybrendle1027
      @anthonybrendle1027  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for that feedback Troy. Are you certain about the mirror, it seems like I was thinking it might not need to be removed too. However if my memory is correct, it would not fit / mount correctly without removing it. Did not realize the 62cv cables were smaller, now that makes more sense to me --- but was very pleased that the larger screen in the 73 could be mounted in the factory OEM mounting kit and worked out as well as it did. I think the NMEA 2000 engine gateway would be cool to have, just need to investigate the cost and weigh the cost / benefits to decide if it is worth pursuing. Cheers!

    Hi Anthony... for wiring, did you purchase the Seadoo Multi Accessory Harness or just splice into factory wiring? I'm contemplating the Multi Accessory Harness but if you got it working ok with the factory harness, I might just do that. If you used the factory harness, where exactly did you connect into? Also, does it shut off with the rest of the Seadoo's electrical items or does it stay on permanently unless you shut the Garmin unit off directly? Thanks!

    • @anthonybrendle1027
      @anthonybrendle1027  3 роки тому

      Hi Matthew - No I did not but a Multi Accessory Harness, just spliced into the Seadoo wiring harness that is already there. The downside might be that the wiring I tapped into is an always hot lead and does not power off the Garmin --- you need to power it off on the Garmin separately. I first unplugged the Seadoo connection and could see clearly which contact was red/hot and black/ground. I put the Garmin wires (red and black) into the like contacts to test it and the Garmin powered up. I FIRST DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY and then spliced in to each line connecting the wiring, soldering it and taped it back up with electrical tape. I think that is briefly highlighted in the video, but if you have trouble locating please feel free to reach out again. Perhaps the Multi Accessory Harness might be a better way, not sure how much they cost --- but it may provide the shut off feature doing it that way and could save time. Good luck ~ Cheers!

    Sir, may I ask why did you not place the transducer inside the hull, so you don't have to drill anything on hull or any places else and no hanging wire on the outside of the Jet Ski. I placed mine right underneath of the front engine mount of my 2019 GTX Limited. I removed the battery to have more room to work with. I cleaned the hull area, underneath of the front engine mount very clean with alcohol and used marine epoxy to glue the transducer down in that area (I know it's a tight space area but workable). This transducer is designed to work thru hull. After my installation, I let the epoxy to cure for few days and then took it to the lake to test the Garmin Echo 73CV with its transducer and the result was completely satisfied.

      Hi Mr Kim, I believe the reason was that the Garmin SV has the Side VU feature which is not as ideal for hull mounting. Where your CV model has down scan --- no side scan, the hull mount will work fine for the CV model. I did seriously considered that option too, but decided to go with the SV and Side Vu feature / side scan capabilities which would not work as well in a hull mount configuration. Cheers!

      Hi Yazan - so sorry you are having this issue. Yea man, so when working on electrical at home I always turn power off from the beaker box and with car and marine vessels, likewise I disconnect power from the battery. When doing the Seadoo I tested the power harness and noticed it was a hot power source even without the Seadoo powered up. Knowing that, I discounted the battery prior to doing the wiring --- but would have done that even if it wasn't a hot power source. So my suggestion now would be to get a friend or someone with an electrical background to assist you with the trouble shooting going forward.
      You mentioned you checked all the fuses. Did you check the inline fuse that is part of the Garmin wiring harness? If not, BEFORE YOU CHECK IT you must disconnect the battery power as it may also be a hot wire (like mine was) and could create more issues if you are not careful. Your electrical friend might be able to help by using a multimeter to determine if there is voltage still coming through the line going to your Garmin. Regarding the speakers, I would try to pair another person's phone just to see if your get audio that way. Perhaps discounting the battery to check the inline fuse will reset the system and get the pairing on your phone going again. It is kind of difficult for me to understand if you are getting power to the speakers why the bluetooth is not working. Let me give it some thought/research and circle back while you are troubleshooting the Garmin power issue.
      Good luck Yazan, please let me know how it goes.
      PS: When disconnecting the battery power, it is recommend you do the negative terminal first, then the positive terminal. When reconnecting, do the negative first and then the positive terminal. Cheers!

      --- I do not want to take on the responsibility should it not work for the 2021 GTX vs my 2020 RTX but it looks like it worked for someone else in this thread with a GTX model. If so here is what you may need, but please verify compatibility for your model year first.

      Hi E-Dan, If you expand the comments section you will see a post related to info that may be helpful if you are planning to do this install. It has a link to the Seadoo OEM parts for a Fish Pro and lists the parts I ordered. That’s pretty much like making up your own kit. With a little research you may discover newer Fish Pro models to reference, however when I did my install there was only the one model I referenced.
      If you have trouble finding the previous post let me know and I’ll copy and paste for you. Cheers!
