  • Over the decades, Browning has built a hunting rifle for every pursuit. We can’t help but look back on three of our favorite Browning long guns in three different actions - bolt, lever, and semi-automatic. We're looking at the Browning BAR, the Browning Safari and the Browning Model 71.

Beautiful rifles especially that 71. Great shooting as always Ms Kristin. Browning has almost always had great wood on their stocks & it's nice to hear how smooth the action sounds. 👍

as we say in Texas, "she don't mince words". Love your videos. I have the Sears JC Higgins Model 51 in 06. Forerunner of the Browning High Power Safari. Same exact rifle.....Belgium made FN Mauser. One of the finest Mausers ever made.

Amazing. People brag about shooting Sub MOA and she shot zero MOA. Made the rest look like beginners. Just incredible shooting skills! Other shooters group shots and she just reuses the same hole!

Very nice rvw. Glad to see women remaining in the sport. I teach HUNTER SAFETY and so happy to see young girls and women continue to come to the sport. Lots can be learned from you and your love of our American Hunting Heritage. Glad to see the full spectrum of guns. To often younger guys want to shot an .06 in gf hands only to turn her off for life. Light recoil human "harvest" and you have them hooked for life. Married 35 yrs this yr. and my wife is my most trusted hunting partner. For our anniversary we bought his and her 28 gauge o/u for bird hunting.

That salt just made itself right at home in the metal, that's nuts that the gun is still perfectly fien and functioning. A real testament to how well they were made, almost humorous!!

Great video, and nice to see a refreshing change from the typical male old farts like myself playing the starring role. ;-). A couple of notes on the bolt action High Power Safari Grade (as a 40 year fanboy and collector of them myself): 1. Based upon the serial number displayed on your rifle, the 6L indicates that it was made in 1966; which would have been one of the earlier guns with the saltwood issue (which run up until about 1972, and was more commonly a problem with the Medallion and Olympian grade rifles). 2. I have that same rifle in 30-06, but mine was built in 1960 (the first year of fully assembled rifles). 3. Browning used barreled actions from FN for the long and magnum calibers, and Sako L579 actions for the short and medium calibers (albeit a few of the very early guns used FN actions for the medium calibers). They are truly fine rifles, especially by today's standards; and you are correct that they can still be acquired for a relatively good price for what you get.

I love your video. I've two Brownings, a BLR 30 06 and a BAR 30 06. I haven't shot the BAR yet. And I also have a Rem 700 in 30 06. I hope to have some fun with all three soon. The BAR was made in 1968 in Belgium. The BLR in 1992 . And the Rem 700 in 1971 which was my first gun purchase.

I fell in love with BAR 40+ years ago. Was not able to afford one in my younger days so I shot a 742 Remington Jam Master thru my twenties. Approx 30 years ago a purchased my first in 7 mag. Switched calibers for a few years until I settled on the .280 Remington and owned 2 of them. Delivered for me always! I transitioned to bolt guns due to hand loading and a tad more accuracy (barely). And you know what bolt guns, Browning Abolt and Xbolt. Thanks

  • @tozobozo4142

Odd to me that Browning, being such an excellent brand, approved and manufactured some of the ugliest, most asymetrical guns on the market. That semi-auto is a good example, as is the BLR, perhaps the world's ugliest lever action, it looks like Picasso was responsible for its lines. No doubt they function beautifully, but so do a lot of really great looking guns. Not so tough to have both, why ignore a key attribute? The bolt gun and the old Model 71 here being great examples of getting it right aesthetically.
