It is funny that people are making fun of Dr Singh saying they were expecting silence or a robot’s voice or Mrs Gandhi’s voice, while in actual reality, he was a college professor and likely had to speak more words than any one of us commenters (and to many an audience of nerdy college students, no less). If you check out his 1990s interview with Karan Thapar, he speaks at 5x the speed from his PM days. Unfortunately, he was a bit too old oratory-wise by the time he was PM. And people easily forget his and PVNR’s contribution to opening up India’s once-socialist economy to capitalist globalizing forces in the NEP of 1991. Not to suggest Dr Singh was a perfect PM, but if the quality of our electorate has anything to do with the quality of comments here, I do lament for our democracy, with such education levels.
