Any of the books from C.S. Lewis's - The Space Trilogy. Prelandra is amazing, the protagonist Ransom is on a quest to another planet that is filled with all sorts of interesting floral, ivy and plush interesting vegetation. Some of the mass land areas float around through the seas.

I don't have any "hiking" book recs but you might enjoy An Astronauts Guide to Life on Earth by Chris Hadfield. Also would recommend Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir if you like science fiction. It is about a guy who is on a deep space exploration mission and he is the only crew member who survived deep sleep and still is trying to complete his original mission. Have fun!

I had some flash back memories when I saw your tent next to the bear bags. :-) MANY years ago... 1984, I lay in my tent out in New Mexico, Philmont scout rant, and listened to a very determined bear clime a tree, jump out to get the bear bag for a group who had tied up a bag too close to the tree. He jumped, missed, hit the ground with a humph, jumped missed, hit the ground with a humph, over and over again, I can still hear the heavy breathing and the claws on the trees... then there was that jump... rip... and I could just feel the glee in that bears tone when it hit the ground with the huge bag full of food for 10 guys! It munched and chewed the rest of the night. The bear was gone by morning, as was most of the food, only a pile of trash left behind. Thankfully they were not too far from a resupply. Your cable looked like it was plenty high and far from the tree, so I am sure you were fine... just a funny memory that will last forever. :-) Have a great trip, and I love watching the videos.

I follow several 2023 NOBO thru hikers on UA-cam and I wish them all the best in a successful journey. You are without a doubt one of the most confident hikers and with your past experience, there is no doubt you will have the least number of difficulties on the trail. You picked the right time to head out and travel at a decent pace that will insure a timely arrival at Mount Katahdin. And, I like that you are making it fun for yourself. One may have a goal in mind at the beginning of this journey but is it worth it if you are not having fun! I wish you the best for a safe and fun filled trip!

Thanks for answering my water filtration question. I’m in Australia and when hiking here water isn’t as readily available as on the AT. I’ve just purchased the same style as you use but went with the 3 litre version just so I have a safety range of water capabilities. Really enjoying the vlog every day and getting to see the sights in the US 😊

Loved hearing about the books you’re listening to. Have you read or listened to A Walk In the Woods by Bill Bryson? It’s a funny memoir about his time hiking the AT. I listened to it during CoVID when I first became interested in the AT, and I just picked up a used copy that I’m reading out loud to my hubby as we begin to daydream about doing more hiking now that our kids are getting older. I watched you in 2021 and was so happy to see your videos again this year. Living vicariously through you!

“Mud, Rocks, Blazes: Letting Go on the AT” - Anish’s story of her FTK on the AT!

Taylor. I just have to say that I find it so funny that everytime you talk about something excited coming up whether its a view, a hostile, or getting food your eyes get really big. haha. Its so difficult to hike and vlog i've done so many but never something as intense as the AT. I do have a suggestion that might help. I realized that instead of always talking to the camera and trying to come up with interesting things to talk about I started just filming footage and then just recorded voice over after filming so I could actually reflect a little more about what happened that day. I would just take notes throughout the day of topics I wanted to discuss and then used them to help me with the voice over at the end. I have a series on my youtube channel called Utah Adventures which is about 12 episodes. You can see how I utilized voice over and talking to the camera to make the videos push a long. Best of luck on the rest of your journey!!!!!
