It seems unbelievable that a major thoroughfare like Parliamentary Road was completely obliterated by the city planners, although I have heard that its course is to be signposted. Killermont Street Bus Station was replaced by the Buchanan Bus Station in 1976, as was an adjacent one in Dundas Street. Macbraynes had a bus station and depot in Parliamentary Road. It closed in 1971, a few months after Western SMT took over their services. By this time, Macbraynes had ceased to work in mainland Scotland, with most services passing to Highland Omnibuses, although Western had the Campbeltown one. It is interesting to see that Buchanan Street station was closed on Sundays. However, c1959/60, the station did open that day when Central was being electrified. The situation at St Enoch was similar. After the arrival of the overnight train from London, and the departure of the day service, the station could be closed on winter Sundays with trains diverted to Central. This change pre-dated nationalisation.

'Old Glasgow Pictures from the Past' ?? As opposed to what ? Old Glasgow Pictures from the Present ? Or Old Glasgow Pictures from the Future ? Of course if the pics are old then they're from the past. 'Old Glasgow Pictures' would suffice.

the thumbnail of the new concrete dwellings must have been built by the same firm who built Killingworth towers North Tyneside, they lasted 18 years from people moving in to being demolished, I was in a load of the flats and they were freezing, soaking wet walls, mould and mushrooms grew everywhere, the windows leaked rain and the wind blew under the walls into the flats, when the reinforcement rods in the concrete rusted lumps of concrete fell off the exterior walls size of bin lids demolishing a few cars and scaring the s**t out of passersby, its fair to say they were not popular, so many were empty if you wanted one you kicked the door in moved in and the then went down the council and told them you had moved in then they would sort a rent book out for you not that anyone ever paid anything, never seen any immigrants or foreign refugees in them just white British refugees. Not North Tyneside Council's greatest moment, £millions£ wasted, and it was all because of bribes with Poulson, T.D Smith, McCullock and the rest of the council's corrupt planning department, some got jailed but many got rich and invested the money in retirement homes (the new money-making scam back then)
