I just bought the Fenix 7x Solar Sapphire and If I would I have known about this, I would have saved 50% and been happy with the Instinct 2 Solar tactical. Looks great.
Oh but the Fenix is such a great choice. I think it worth what you paid for.
@@PascalMarquisUnbox Thank you and to be honest, I was filled with regret when I bought it. Coming from Apple watches it just felt really low tech. I bought it in Thailand and there is no return policy here or I would have brought it back the next day. I tried selling it for $300 less than I purchased it with my receipt proving I had it one day with no bites. However; after about a week now it's growing on me. It's a very different thing than I am used to but I like the enhanced metrics such as HRV and body battery and my wife says it looks cooler because it's bigger. So, oh well, I guess I'm glad they didn't take it back :)
No words needed. Thanks!
love that you compared the older version!
I have the older version ... solar tactical black.. is it worth to upgrade to solar tactical 2? Is screen much better ? Resolution? Thanks
I only have it at my wrist since 2 days now. There is some thing that are better. You can have more datafield on the watch face, the resolution of the screen is better, a bit more fluid. Yet I think that watch is amazing, but very expensive for a plastic watch.
I will do a first impression video in the following weeks and a complete review in few month.
@@PascalMarquisUnbox Thanks for response.... I order the new solar 2 tactical black...I love these watches..solar black 1 works with no problem so this will be good upgrade for me...
@@Kloby0903 This is the only "reviewer" I've seen on YT that has compared the IS2 Tactical against the first as yet, buy unfortunately the problems that do exist with the new one are not shown / discussed. The TLDR short answer (IMHO): Not worth the upgrade right now; I'd wait until Garmin stops giving dumb excuses, admits that there exists a manufacturing problem with the display, and finally releases a production run with the corrected issue. Now the explanation: Compared to the original, the IS2 Tactical (well, it seems to be present in non-solar editions as well) has a problem in which the display has not only a "blurple" hue to it when backlit, but it appears washed-out and "bleeds out" the screen even at the slightest viewing angle; during these circumstances the screen becomes illegible unless viewed deliberately from top/down angle. Garmin stated that this is due to a new display type, and that the viewing angles will not be the same as on the original; however, when viewed from the 12 to 6 angle (inverted) that problem does not exist (ironically, when that is done with 5he original the opposite occurs 🤔). So, we (users in the forum which complained about the sam3 issue) figured that the problem was with the orientation of the polarization screen on the display... that they may have been inadvertently installed upside down on the initial production run units; Garmin's response to that: "It is intentionally designed that way so that 'Tactical' users can view the watch while it is worn on the inside of 5he wrist." Lol, need I go on!? Check out the Garmin Forum and Reddit posts before making a purchase... if you can live with those issues mentioned then pull the trigger and buy it, becaus3 feature-wise the watch is pretty dang good (with the exception of no selectable font size options on a display than now has an overall smaller font than the original).
@@Kloby0903 Go to Garmin web and compare both instinct to see differences. In the list of watches there's a button named "compare" to do it.
Very nice unboxing. I really like this watch. Traditionally I have not been a great fan of smart watches. I've been more of a Casio Pro Trek kinda guy. I also like Citizen Altichron, but this is the first smart watch that I would really consider buying. I love it's simplicity. It looks like a G Shock, but has all the features of a smart watch with an excellent battery life. There is no way I want to be charging a watch daily, like the Apple watch Ultra. With the Solar Instinct 2, I'd hardly need to charge it.
I like how you added the link for the Garmin but please put the link for those with GovX as it adds the discount of $100+ off this and many more products.
Cool unboxing, this should be the new normal.
Thanks! :)
Pure military tactical watch
Your iPhone look’s Katastrof you need new one
Garmin is excellent
Good music background and nice review !
The instinct 2 is underrated.
Tengo el Instinc primera version. La verdad un excelente reloj.
Как себя показывают? Как GPS? Для бега подойдут?

Based on this description (as well as others), I'd assume there's either a new revision or some people are way more sensitive to the issue than others. On my Instinct 2 Solar, the display appears washed out from the bottom angle only when the back-light is on and the display remains readable even at extreme angles regardless. I assume the back-light issue is the exact same thing as G-Shock watches and is down to the location of the back-light (G-shock watches are also washed out when viewed against the back-light). It's definitely one of the things Garmin should have done better but it's not a deal breaker for me personally, as I only find the back-light necessary in complete darkness - the display is very reflective and little light is needed for it to be readable. And again, I have to stress the display is perfectly readable from all angles on my I2S even with the back-light on.
I would disagree the Instinct 2 is not worth the upgrade and if I still had the original I would likely buy the 2 anyway. Notifications on the original were awkward due to low resolution, the altimeter was flat out broken (both HW and SW issue), didn't have NFC and the later released solar charging wasn't anywhere near as useful. The Instinct 2 allows you to adjust most settings through the mobile app, has a wide range of new features, supports more sensors, the HR sensor is miles better and the list of new fitness features is pretty long. It's a really substantial upgrade in my opinion.
The one big gripe I have is that despite the increased pricing of the base model, you need to pay even more for the Solar in order to get NFC.
@@CanIHasThisName Стоит ли мне новичку покупать instinct tactical?
nice one...good settings..and show...
Very nice walkthrough. What is your wrist size.? Im planning to buy 45mm for 7’ wrist size.
Hi! Thank you for your comment. My wrist size is around 165mm.
@@PascalMarquisUnbox thank you Pascal and it was a nice fit on your wrist. Enjoy!
@@PascalMarquisUnboxHey man, it looks great on your wrist, I was just wanted to ask what's your wrist size 😊Can you please tell me how was and is the battery life between now and when you purchase it ? Are you happy with the watch, any software or hardware issues, did you test it in all environments or military conditions, is it tough/ water, shock resistant. How is the solar charging, band , charging cable that came with the watch, charging connector and so on.
I had I2S about a year ago. Excelent watch but I hated that graphite color. Now I bought Tactical edition on black friday for 265€, waiting for it to arrive.
I2x is way to big for my wrist sadly.
Yea the graphite color doesn't look so good in my opinion too.
I wish they will upgrade the instinct 2 solar build for stainless steel buttons and back opened with small screws and stainless Basel in the front.
Like the Casio Potrek prw 3100 which has great case .
The solar is huge since as a normal watch you do not have to use external charger which is a major major major yes why to buy it instead of the solar protrek.
If Garmin will copy the Casio protrek prw 3100 case to the instinct 2 solar you will get the best army watch . People then will go with Garmin instead of Casio leaving Polar and Sunto field watches far being also in regard to casing durability .
Today the opening of the Garmin instinct 2 is not very nice since there are no screws .
Though no one will probably open a solar watch still it is nice to know it has screws for opening as a standard .
I think the Instinct goal is to offer lightweight and complete watch at affordable price point. This of course leads to plastic.
Take a look at the Fenix series if you want a better built quality. ua-cam.com/video/1FpYb5mfAEI/v-deo.html
Nagyon tetszik, de az én csuklómon is ilyen nagy téglának tűnne sajnos, nem esztétikus.
Very nice 😮😮😮😮
Almost perfect but i realy don t like how you charge it, a wireless charge Will be grate on this watch

I only use it since 3 day but yet I never had hard time to see the screen. How can I replicate your issue?
@@PascalMarquisUnbox Lol, I just realized that my post was incomplete; sorry. Anyhow, just go into a low-light area, while wearing the watches side by side, turn on the backlight and slowly start tilting your wrist (adjusting the watch viewing angle). you'll quickly see the difference and the problem. Afterwards, turn the watches upside down on your wrist and do the same thing again... you'll see the inverse effect on the watches (IOW, the polarization screen on the display is upside down on the new one).
Wow. I can definitly see what you say. Hum. That is kind of bad. Not the end of the world but kind of bad. Thank you for your comment!
@@PascalMarquisUnbox No problem. It's not so much of an issue unless using the backlight while indoors/nighttime, but for those of us that do require it on a regular basis it is a big problem. Moreover, it is something that Garmin can easily fix, but instead they have given some pretty lame excuses. It would be great if you would consider updating your video with a comparison of the display... hopefully it would prompt others to address it as well. Thanks again for you original upload 😎👍🏼.
Hi Del. Well I start to understand more and more that issue. Experience it while biking at night. In fact it would be better if I wear it on wright hand. Well I did talk about it in my new ''first impression video''.
Nice
It's my dream to have garmin instinct
Work hard and u will get it. Atleast its not as bad as getting a Fenix 7
Brother wich one is best gbd h 2000 or instinct 2 solar tactical ?
I never tested Casio watches yet. But I don't think it is even comparable. The instinc is a great navigation tool.
Its combination between the gshock and smartwatches
More of a sportwatch then a smartwatch.
How long did your order take to arrive
Few days.
İnstinct modeli ve solar modelinin kordon ölçüleri aynı mı bilginiz var mı ?
It would be perfect if Garmin would have implemented like in the Garmin Venu 2 Plus the phone function.
I never tried the Venu 2 plus but you do get phone notification on the watch.
@@PascalMarquisUnbox Yes, it was more wishful thinking :) The only thing that I miss on the Instinct 2.
Hello brother,
How about the instict 2 solar tactical quality and gps?
Very good. You might see a bit more here : ua-cam.com/video/1Av_IzA3iUo/v-deo.html
I will also eventually make my final review.
Could u say it’s 45 mm or 51 mm?
45
51 wasn't released yet when I made it.
The flashlight and the bigger battery is a big deal in my opinion on the 51.
m40-15......also nice
i dont know , but first edition looks much better
I personally prefer the look of the gen 2. But everybody have it's own taste.
Сколько лет срок службы у часов?
Is there a thermometer here?
I'm not sure but I think there is one. But this is definitively something you don't want to use as the temperature is always wrong as you warm up the watch with your skin.
The Garmin Instinct is a fantastic watch and function wise pretty much the holy grail of any digital watch lover. However, the design has become boring and is completely outdated, Garmin needs to make something really cool sci-fi/retro/futuristic looking (take a look at the Timex Command Shock for a good example), something in a rectangular 16:9 widescreen format. And please get rid of that stupid circle in the upper right corner it is entirely pointless in a MIP watch and WAY too much Casio'ish (G-Shock'ish).
black? graphite?
The tactical model is the only one that come in black. 😉
Song ??
It's in the description ;)
Turkish language ?
I believe yes. See my review, there is a chapter on language : ua-cam.com/video/1qtMm3pLfTs/v-deo.html
My watch is ınstinct 2 dual power is only asia no Turkish language.
hockey puck
Türkçe varmı?
Instinct 1 looks better
I personnaly prefer the new one look. But all tastes are in nature. 😉
