I have owned m/c for 56 yrs. Mainly off road bikes. After long consideration I purchased a 2019 Rokon Ranger with a sidecar. The sidecar was to justify it with my wife so she and out greyhound can ride. The sidecar attaches with one thumb screw and comes off in less than one minute. The only regret I have is not buying one 20 yrs sooner. Loved my Kaw KLR 650 for covering a lot of miles in a day. But limited in where it will go. and what it will haul. It has its place in my garage but My wife hates to ride on it, my dog won't even think about it and it hurts when you crash at 40 mph. I have now learned to appreciate the beauty of our planet going to places that were hidden from me by any other m/c. And going there slowly and safely. Here in the south east the woods are thick and I can twist thru them with out tearing up everything making all kind of noise and busting my butt on a wet rock as I am going up a very steep hill. Deer hunting, Have you ever dragged a deer a quarter of a mile because your jeep or ATV can't get there because the terrain is to rough and especially thick. Heart attack ! If you can not tie it to the rear rack the deer can be tied to the trailer hitch and drug out of the woods. My wife loves to carry the Rokon with sidecar to the cut little mountain or coastal towns to ride around. It is automatic so she can drive it as I sit on the sidecar sipping sweet tea. People will park their golf carts to come over to talk with you. She loves that and I just smile and pet my dog. Pretty good for a 72 yr old lady. Maybe, the perfect ride we have ever had. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'm very excited to try one on Monday I've been looking at those since last year and talk to the dealership owner a few time and I've made the decision to go try one and I'll decide if I like it or not. I have a 4x4 but there's something in that bike that keep pulling me in and I'm not a fan of speed so I think.... I think I may buy one. Cheers!
@@bakupcpu Thanks for your comment. I was giving my honest opinion. I just sold my Polaris 4x4 side by side. I just did not need it anymore. Around my property I do use the Rokon everyday if for no other reason to go get the mail and newspaper for my sweet wife. And the sidecar has really become very useful like carrying 300 lbs of feed to my deer feeders or carrying tools here or there and pool supplies in one trip from the garage to the pool including that 4", 30 ft long unruly vacuum hose.. Then I drop the sidecar with one thumbscrew and go trail riding on my property or ride it to town to my favorite gun store. Again, mine is the street legal Ranger. and btw my insurance including liability and theft is only $94.00 per year. I do hope you enjoy your demo ride. Just remember, the ride is not about the destination but the fun you have along the way.
@@nbragtop I agree 100% with you I was planning on using mine (if I go the Rokon way) for riding every day to the job on trail and camping (4 season) I would require a trailer for this and my dog would come with me. Where I live right now we do have group ride on almost every weekend and everyone ride a quad for the most part and the fastest we go in the trail is about 30-40 KPH which (18-24 MPH) I would be curious to see if a Rokon would be able to ride in a group I guess it's one thing I'll find out.
When we were logging, we would use the Rokon 2wheel drive to get to the top of some of the trees that were over 150 feet tall. Yep, we would drive straight up to the top of the trees. It was much quicker than climbing with a rope. Once this dude from New York drove one to the top of the Empire State Building. With both wheels pulling you can ride it straight up buildings. It's unbelievable.
You just came from Jay Leno's video... My grandpa used to ride mules and use teams to log. I bet he could ride from the bottom to the top of all those trees faster with those mules. Felling them prior, of course! Funny comment bud! 🤣👍🏼
I saw one of those at Ft Drum NY home of the 10th Mountain Div. It was in the back of the Motor Shop where they worked on the old Ford M151 Jeeps It was red and black . @@raysova7666 Filipino mix. Grandfather was from Philippines grandmother was from Oklahoma (Irish). I was an FMF Navy Corpman. (fleet marine force) attached to 3rd marine division.
Now that they came out with this version it is basically a dual sport bike. A few years back I checked them out at the only dealer in my area and he was ripping you off to make it street legal because here in Washington in order to drive up fire roads or forest service roads it must be street legal. So the dealer had jacked up the cost to around $10k. Needless to say I left without a Rokon. I still want one though but may just try the used market, problem there is most people keep them so I've not been able to find too many used and in good shape. The guys from Fire Mountain Outdoors YT channel picked up a used one in real rough shape maybe a year ago and it had issues but I'll have to go back and check their channel about it. Yep just checked they did get it running but had to put in work to make it happen. I on the other hand don't need that headache in my life, I prefer a modern working version.
The reason Rokons are so pricey is via being mostly hand built, by skilled craftsmen in America. My nearest dealer (40 miles away) kept jerking me around on the phone "calling for his boss's approval" on every option/question I had when trying to order one, that I finally called Rokon Int. direct (in between dealer phone calls) & found they would ship me a new Trailbreaker direct for $400 less than the dealer wanted!(AND being shipped from state of NH : NO sales tax!!).The crating charge was well worth it : bike arrived in pristine condition & was enjoyably easy to set up! Bike is even factory titled as a "mototractor" (original name inventor gave it in 1958--before "Trailbreaker") : this may be so you can DMV it as farm machinery, if desired? If you can afford but only one option : GET THE BRUSH-BUSTER HAND GUARDS!! They WILL save your brake levers in spills! Although a beast in snow, bike will suddenly slide out from under you if icey base underneath snow cover (don't ask me how I know this!) - hence I had to order up a sidecar for "snowfall stability"- to avoid further dumping of bike (you will need to knock off a conveince store to pay for matching up sidecar radial tire & wheel tank to match same bike options!) An unforseen perk for adding in the sidecar option is EASY trailering on small utility trailers : just drive it all on & strap things down, then to unload- simply roll backwards off trailer in neutral, pushing on handlebar guards while tapping brake levers as needed for control on the downhill ramp. Remember that Rokons are SLOW vs. conventional ATVs, but (like the tortoise & the hare)-- it WILL win the race! (i.e.-get you there & back!). Try driving an ATV thru a cabin doorway or traversing a hill sideways like a Rokon can-- not to mention only 218 lbs. to deal with in a spill, vs. manhandling a 400+ lbs. ATV! If you do your homework & get to really understand a Rokon, you will find they are a VERY unique beast- in a class by themselves!...
It's a Nifty set up, but I do have to ask how is this any better than a four wheeler? The narrow frame might get you through some narrow gaps in the trees that a four-wheeler wouldn't be able to make, and the fact that it can float is nice but with two cargo racks in the utility hitch I can pack a lot of functionality in do a package that's going to go further and faster while carrying just as much if not much more gear.
I can only speculate. I used to own an quad and I have to admit it was easy to ride, easy to carry a 2nd person and could pull a small trailer if I wanted to. Down side....if I had a jeep wrangler or Cherokee or 4runner or landcruiser....it would be tough to carry a quad without a trailer. These tiny mountain goat bikes are easily packable on a 2 inch hitch which is why you see them on Unimogs alot. Of course I'm just speculating since I've never owned a rokon.
Actually seems like a logical solution for 2wd. Have you seen a christini 2wd dirt bike? It's just as complicated if not more complicated. It's the nature of the 2wd beast I guess.

The ability to be road legal like a scooter could be a factor depending on your needs/wants.
