hope you can do a video that shows this in a more detailed way. Can't seem to make it work with mine. Would appreciate it so much :)
Thanks for letting me know! I'll see what I can do to make a more detailed video!

Thanks, did you link cell B3 and C3 in any way ?
Yes! Cell B3 has a dropdown menu that pulls its options from a list of months stored in the worksheet. Then cell C3 uses the match function to return the position of the selected month. So if February is selected, you get back the number 2. If December is selected, you get back 12.
Hopefully this makes sense!
Hi! thank you for making this video. I'm having trouble doing this. Can you make a much more detailed video please? @@spreadsheetlife
@@yungmlnd I will add it to the list, and see if I can make a longer video on this. Thanks for asking!

Could you give a demo of the 1st part “Month and Number” ?
I will add it to the list! Thanks for asking!
Thanks for making the subscription worthy 🙂
@@spreadsheetlife another request , can you show use of countif in dynamic filter formula ? For an example how can i see number of budget criteria my month?Like... I select month January and got 2 as a budget count.
I'm sorry, but I've already begun work on the Filter by Date video for Google Sheets, and I am far enough along to where I won't be able to answer your specific question. However, please take a look at this spreadsheet. I put together the formula for you to see. I hope this helps. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1bYANlVTQZjB1CI00S7TA1QqnkSb7TCWJhgoqmpnfWgI/copy

Thanks, did you link cell B3 and C3 in any way ?
Yes I did. Cell B3 gets the dropdown list options from a list of the months. Cell C3 uses the MATCH function to return the position of the selected month (relative to the month list) from cell B3. So for Jan, you get 1. For Feb you get 2. Etc.
I hope this helps!
What formula did you use to get the wekkday number?.
So the number in cell C3 is calculated using the MATCH function. I have a list of months off screen, and I use the MATCH function to find the selected month in the month list and that gives the number. I hope this helps.
Can we filter data by month without the need for the space for the filtered results? Can we just select the month from the dropdown list and then only the data for the selected month will show in the source data?
Yes. If you want to can select the data, right-click, and create a filter. From there, you can use the filter buttons to filter the data. Hope this helps.
@@spreadsheetlife Thanks, is it also possible to use the same dropdown filter shown in this video and not the regular filter?
Unfortunately, it's not possible to use the same dropdown filter shown in the video to filter the source data like you are describing. I'm sorry that's the case.
