Hey Everyone! Thanks for your kind words as always. I know I made a dumb mistake and mixed up Chip & Dale in the video at a few spots. My brain turned to mush after digging super hard for reference on these guys. My bad. Thanks for watching though! LOVE YOU ALL! YOU ROCK!
Disney Dan I love Chip and Dale soooo much!!! What you said about the Rescue Ranger versions, I would want to see more of that. I've seen Chip and Dale so much that I'm their biggest fan!!!
clarice appears at rare events, seasonal shows or parades, or extremely rare popup meets. She appears more regularly at disneyland paris, tokyo, shanghai or hong Kong. and has since those parks opened.
Kiiamonet R that will be a long episode, if the older princess got this many chances to their costumes. But an episode of the older princess, like Snow White.
I absolutely love this series. You do a fantastic job. I'd love to see episodes on Pooh, Daisy, Scrooge, Hewey Dewey and Louie and Baloo the bear. Also Woody and Buzz.
I didn't know Clarice was at the opening day of Disneyland. I love that she returned to the parks in the mid 2000's first at Tokyo then eventually the other Disney Theme Parks across the globe.
yes scrooge is. i saw him there in the days of disney afternoon and original ducktales, he has made rare or seasonal appearances since then. Now he is pretty common at animal kingdom w launchpad.
No, because when you say both chip and dale together, it sounds “chippendale” which is a type of furniture. That’s why they’re both called Chip And Dale, but you might be partially correct who knows?
Oh..... there is a dark tale behind some of the Winnie the Pooh costumes. In the 1980s, Disney licensed some of their characters to Sears and had meet and greets with certain characters at the stores. I don't know how many they actually did but I do know that one of them was Winnie the Pooh. Well, the agreement fell through a few years later. " Part of the contract was that if the agreement fell through, Sears was responsible for the disposal of the costumes to NEVER be used by them or anyone else. Disney wanted nothing to do with the costumes. My dad was a security guard at a Sears and one day his manager gave him one of the meet and greet costumes and told him to "get rid of it. He tried to take it home but he wasn't allowed. So, he actually had to go out behind the Sears and destroy the Winnie the Pooh costume. He was given a sledgehammer and had to smash in the costumes face and rip apart the body. In essence my dad killed Winnie the Pooh as a hit job from Sears. Yeah.
If you going to check out the costume characters from Rescue Rangers, I think it might be better to do a video on all of the costumes from the Disney Afternoon block that includes characters like Max Goof, The Gummi Bears, Gadget, Launchpad and of course Darkwing Duck
Chip & Dale's female friend Clarice makes appearances in the non-US parks and may be the curviest full head character costume ever allowed to roam a Disney park. In fact a video on the characters seen only outside the US might be fun.
I’ve watched compilations of “Disney fails” where it’s mostly costume malfunctions. But I noticed that most of the clumsy falls or bumping into things was usually one of the chipmunks. Maybe those costume designs in particular don’t have very good visibility or something? Idk they just seem like they’re difficult to wear.
I gave my autograph book to them when it was turned to a page Duffy Bear had already signed, expecting them to turn the page. They didn’t. I think they can’t see too well.
I've heard that the performers in the 1968 costumes were so big because they had to have people strong enough to carry the weight of the costumes. Apparently the heads were so big and heavy that the costume had to have a steel bar running down the back to stabilize the head. That made the costumes so heavy that they needed big performers to be able to cope with it. Also, the chipmunks now don't have the fur collars that they used to. Now they wear a brown spandex cowl underneath the head to hide the human performer in case kids look up the head.
really strange about the collar. if you look at eeyore, baloo and a few other current characters they too have these collars, however they don't look silly like the chipmunks
Chip and dale hold a special place in my heart as I was terrified of dressed up characters and clowns. So I would always avoid any dressed up characters in theme parks. I was in DisneyLand Paris and I decided I should try to get over this fear, so I went and lined up to meet chip and dale (or Tic and Tac in Paris) and I hugged them got a photo and finally managed to do something that I had been so scared to do ever since I was a baby.
I love Chip n Dale Reacue Rangers! I wstched it bunch as a kid. I honestly didn't know these character existed prior to the show. Dale's red aloha shirt and Chip's aviator jacket are iconic
I'm fairly sure the thicker pile of the animated costumes is used to hide some of the mechanics, especially around the mouth, still not too sure how I feel about it, Donald looks the oddest with thick fur. Chip and Dales cheeks look adorable with the thicker fur though!
I believe the difference in the fur for the articulated versions were just made to make their cheeks more fluffier, like chipmunks. I like that addition and hope it'll eventually get to the meet-and-greet versions.
Most of the Sesame Street costume characters have that collar just like the old chip and dale design but they blend in well (sometimes) with the costumes and they can be tucked in
That's so surprising, that Clarice had been there at the beginning and then just disappeared. She's still prominent in the Japanese parks, they love her over there.
Christian Zamora Originally, the Mad Hatter appeared as a "fur character" like Mickey and Donald. By the end of the 1980s, park executives changed him to a "face character", allowing him to interact with the guests.
I believe the reason behind the more furry appearance in the articulated characters is to make them appear actually "furry" to the audience who is a lot farther away from the characters while they're on stage rather than while doing meet and greets. In the video I also noticed Donald is furrier than normal.
A long time ago, I interacted with Chip and Dale. At the time, they were the only characters walking around the parks, and I taught them some karate (Power Rangers was on TV at that point - oh the irony!! XD) I wanna teach Minnie a few more karate techniques.
A Rescue Rangers video? Yes, please! I loved that show as a kid. I don't really get the characters' appeal outside of Rescue Rangers, actually. They're kind of jerks when they're not solving mysteries out of a laundry detergent aeroplane. Thanks, Dan.
I want say that I absolutely love these videos! But I did notice that sometimes in your explanations of Chip and Dale, you have them switched. Dale has the reddish nose with the split front teeth while Chip is the black nose with the buck teeth. Otherwise, awesome video!
Hey Dan for the articulated heads I think they were made out of a different fur because they could have just been using a different material because as you know best Disney makes unnecessary changes to characters for shows and tours.
you got chip and dale mix up. in the 1981 part of the video. lol chip is with the black small noise with one tooth and dale with the red round noise. with two teeth. Chip and Dale are my favorite Disney Characters. ever since I saw Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers as a kid. it made fall in love with those two.
About the collars being tucked out I saw the same thing on some characters in Disneyland Paris like Eeyore, Remy and Emile. I just googled those pics and you can see their collars are tucked out. The collars do look better than the chipmunks' old costumes but with Remy and Eeyore having lighter tone bellies, it jsut look a bit weird to me that the color changes abruptly just bellow the shoulders.
Hey I know this may be a bit out of the realm of Disney but maybe you could do a history of the Chuck E Cheese character? It's actually really intriguing!
Hey Everyone! Thanks for your kind words as always. I know I made a dumb mistake and mixed up Chip & Dale in the video at a few spots. My brain turned to mush after digging super hard for reference on these guys. My bad. Thanks for watching though!

One thing you forgot to mention: in 2009, Clarice briefly came back with a new design. She only appeared in a Christmas parade in Disneyland.

@@Binx345me And she has no articulated version yet.

Kiiamonet R yeees!!
Kiiamonet R that will be a long episode, if the older princess got this many chances to their costumes. But an episode of the older princess, like Snow White.
Rescue Rangers was one of my favorite shows as a kid! I'd love if we could still see Chip & Dale in those outfits at the parks!
The 60's costumes looked terrifying. I saw a kid crying at one in the video; Proof of the terror.
What about the 50s
Yeah
2:11 You mean this part?
I absolutely love this series. You do a fantastic job. I'd love to see episodes on Pooh, Daisy, Scrooge, Hewey Dewey and Louie and Baloo the bear. Also Woody and Buzz.
