Thanks, Before you chuck out the old microwave, just buy a new manetron for fraction of cost of new microwave, change the inside Mica plate whioch may have burned and you jhave a new microwave. You can check videos on youtube how to do this. Only once confirmed the magnetron is burned out or dead should you discharge the capacitor first (See videos on how as its dangerous) and then use this video to remove magnets which you could reuse for a long long time on so many things.
If these things you think are powerful try them neodymium magnets, especially the N52. With a lot of effort you could maybe manage to slide them off somehow. I have an inch square neodymium, I consider it a dangerous item in the house. I have it wrapped with heavily insulated plastic and metal both to protect it and whatever metal it comes in contact with.
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvival After I watched your video I went ahead and removed the magnets off the microwave magnetron I had taken out. I played with a flat head screw driver and quickly realized that a side cutter plier was better choice for me as with the flat head slipping and sliding wasn't my cup of tea hurting myself etc. The side cutter grabed good and took it apart easily. However the magnets were fighting me, and my concern with radioactive things I guess made me clumsy more I guess. In a nutshell I broke one magnet due to trying to pry it out with a flat head screwdriver, But the other one ( the bigger one underneath) came off as by then I had pulled everything else out. Yea compare to the neodymium these magnets are very light weight. In fact I have little neodymium magnets and they are insanely powerful. They will hurt you. I believe The N52s are the most powerful magnet in the world. You can check them out on Amazon or AliExpress ( cheaper), They are not that expensive nonetheless, unless you get bigger ones. That one inch is around $10, on Amazon, the N52. . other ones are a dozen for that. Just realized mine is 1 1/2 inch cube.
If you foolishly chip or flake of the beryllium pink or white insulators you seriously risk cancer, or other horrible diseases and death. Strongly suggest this be an outside project.

Yep, but this micro was beyond repair. And you should always discharge the capacitor...
I take it that you have done this before. Interesting. As a former maintenance man, I am fully aware of the bite of capacitaters.
Nope, this is the first time. Gotta watch those capacitors...
I've had a disfunction and not used for 2 months. Does it still contain voltage/ electricy, that can kill me. It hasn't been with power since?
It is probably ok by now
Well you saved a life today Matt because knowing me my fingers would have been all over that killing capacitor so thanks so much! Great vid
Thanks lol. Yeah that capacitor can be "shocking"...lol
Put one of those on your cars engine oil pan, and it will attract any metal that's in the oil. Help your motor to last longer. Transmission pan too.
That would be a good use for it
😮😮
If a damaged microwave is stored away will the capacitor die & if so how long will it take.....
PS. Thank you so much for the vid.
It will lose power but will take a while to do it, several weeks I think
Great video!!!
Thanks!
How do u dispose of the pink and purple things...the baddies
After they are discharged you can just throw them away...

Man, those are powerful...

You didn't show how you got the magnatron out.
It was only a few screws...
If you Drop the microwave in a bucket of water will it discharge the capacitor ?
Lol...no
More fun if ya remove the magnatron/ firing mech & make a herf unit.😎
That is a little beyond my skill level lol
@@FloridaBoyBushcraftSurvivalno it isnt lol 😎 if i can do it @ 48yrs old you can ....make Tim do it.......lol
A guy in ohio Thursday night blew up a large capacitor in his garage doing experiments, set his house on fire and give him a bunch of burns.
Yes, you can really screw yourself up with those...
What did You say hold the capacitor Ok Sir here goes
Lol I clearly said "DO NOT TOUCH THE CAPACITOR"

Thanks for the warning...
Lol. Can't you make a welder or something, out of these? * the microwave?
You can make a lot of stuff from an old microwave I think...
i stopped using those things 25 yrs ago lol :] ]
Microwaves or magnets lol
What U stopped using 25 years ago and why?
Would you like to share it with us, will be very helpful to learn something
