I was on the Forrestal when we had the fire. Would have a different outcome if we had the gear they have now. But we still did a good job with what we had.

I went through the Navy's Aviation Fire Fighting School twice at Naval Station Mayport (1975 and 1982)

I also went to the Navy Fire Fighting school twice - once in boot camp, and another one for carrier-specific firefighting training in 1987 & 1988. We certainly didn't have all that gear that was shown in this video. It would have been nice if you guys had shown what the team wears daily while on a carrier during flight ops for those "Uh-oh, our day just went south" moments - when I was in, it was that metallic silver suit. Makes me wonder if that's what they still wear, or has the Navy upgraded to the gear that you showed in your video.
