All very good info here.. IDEMITSU all day for me, engine oil and premix. I am glad you talked about oil coverage with the OMP, plenty of rotary guys are still blind to this that the coverage isn't as good as using premix with the fuel. I run both OMP and premix on both my rotaries. Half oz per gal stock-ish RX-8, closer to 1 oz per gal FD because its 400 hp. Be careful with radiator upgrades on RX-8's, the mishimoto (most common radiator choice) sucks for the RX-8. I use a koyo on my FD. Also... straight pipe... your engine will thank you... these cars run so hot that heat soaks into the downpipe / header. The trapped heat ruins rear area rotor. I kno its naughty to the environment but this is one of the few cars you really really should if you want the motor to stay healthier for longer.
Thank u so much for that amazing input man! And yes, remixing is definitely important! I still run my OMP and premix at the same time. Never heard of the mishimoto issue before but I'll definitely take ur advice! Also Koyo to me is the best brand for radiator, no other like it! Great info on the catalytic part! I had totally forgot to include that and I appreciate that u mentioned it on ur comment 🙂 I totally agree there with ya! Less restrictions of the exhaust flow the better!
I'm not too sure about that since I don't own an FD but honestly, I don't see why it should not fit. Let me do a little more research on that actually 🤔
Yes and no on using premix with cat converter. There's a mix review about this, some say u can and some say no. But just on the safe side, I would say no if ur running a catalytic but u can try it out. At this day in age, I wouldn't recommend running catalytic with rotaries because it messes with the flow of the exhaust. I would suggest getting rid of it and use resonator.
i have a cat on my rx8 and i premix, but only 100-200ml per 50L tank refill. Makes the engine run so much smoother and no issues with the cat. Careful when using more than 200ml per tank because the second lambda will start throwing codes.
When it comes to the vary of oil use during winter and summer does that go for fl drivers as well I mean we actually get 35 degree weather that's cold in my opinion
Hey whats up man, this is most likely due to a bad air/fuel ratio. Ur most likely running lean, meaning u have more air than fuel which causes excessive heat in the exhaust going through ur turbo.
YES! It needs to be revved higher than 2k rpm. It helps remove the carbon deposits through higher u rev the engine. Don't be afraid to redline it once a day :)
This video is so useful I've been looking into a 1988 rx7 and I didn't know how to make one last and now I feel confident in getting one
Thank u so much man! 😎🙏🙏 im glad this video could help u out! They are not as intimidating as people make them to be. U got this!
Pretty good advice, tru to the Rotary 💯👍👍👍

A lot of us in NZ use Denso IRL01-27 plugs for 13b with really good results, they appear to be in better shape than NGK after track time
Love the video. Keep up the awesome work!!!!
Thank u so much man! I really appreciate it! 🙏🥹

@@thatRotaryCarGuy one more question, im finding the koyo rad model stops at 1995 models. i have a 1996 fd, will the koyorad fit all years of FD?
I'm not too sure about that since I don't own an FD but honestly, I don't see why it should not fit. Let me do a little more research on that actually 🤔
Great video.
Thank you so much! 🙏🥹🥹
I might also add to change fuel filter more often than usual.
I definitely agree with this! Thank for this great addition! 😎🙏🙏
I recently passed my test but brought a rotary car i been using 5w 30 but im going to switch it when i got my next 800 miles oil change to 10w 40
Should you premix even with a catalytic converter?

Oh yeah, it definitely does! I'm from GA so our weather is kinda the same. 50° to me is already cold for me lol
@thatRotaryCarGuy okay thanks when I finally get my project it will be a hybrid renesis have you ever built one of those?
Bro mention sohn adapter comon. Its very useful
Hey, can you please tell me why my turbo is getting cherry red on my RX seven turbo two 1988
Hey whats up man, this is most likely due to a bad air/fuel ratio. Ur most likely running lean, meaning u have more air than fuel which causes excessive heat in the exhaust going through ur turbo.
0:34 rx8 from philipiines?
Probably is. Funny u asked that, coz I'm Filipino lol
Is this true or not. I heard you need to rev a rotary engine higher than 2000 rpm’s cause babying it will blow the engine.
YES! It needs to be revved higher than 2k rpm. It helps remove the carbon deposits through higher u rev the engine. Don't be afraid to redline it once a day :)
Any brand of oil is better than no oil at all
This is true and can totally agree with this!
Cringy private seller lol😅
LMFAOOO I KNOW RIGHT?! I wonder who he is 🤣
Wasted my time watching this video
Thank u for your time 🙏
