    I really appreciate how you go play with an older rack system and then (just guessing) go mess with a residential split lol. That’s a wide breadth of skills and kudos to you to make it happen! If you aren’t already you’re gonna be reefer man all the time lol

    Great work as always sir .
    The problem in our trade is that we need so many tools , it's hard to find a balance .
    Getting older we try to use a smaller lighter tool bag but then you keep going back and forth to the van ...
    And in my field , the van is often parked far away from the equipment so that's a real pain !

    Getting it done....the name of the game in the summer. I had to deal with an issue recently on a 80 ton RTU.....fix3d the issues and found the oil sight glass was empty. Since the building was 95°+ i pumped in some oil to keep the compressors from grenading themselves.....now that its had the weekend to process the building temp down....im gonna go back and look for any oil leaks. With any luck the high discharge pressure will bring the oil back if it was logged in the evap. If i see oil stains...then i know i have a leak and can proceed with a leak search and repair.....sometimes in this business its about getting it up and going over all other issues. Doesn't mean we dont care, didn't notate it....i appreciate your logical outlook on situations and real world approach to situations

    407c is zeotropic so if you lose some of the charge you have replace the whole charge. Correct me if im wrong but this is what i’ve been taught

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  Рік тому +1

      Yeah they've been telling us that for years. Theoretically any blend whether it's just two like 410A or whatever. The different refrigerant components would leak at different rates but also the thought process has been, did it leak in a liquid form or did it leak in a vapor form. I've only had a few times where 410A actually fractionated or it could have been just not condensables in the system.

      🤫I have digital too🤣. I use the analogs when I have to adjust pressure switches. But there are times when I use the analog gauges and I'm like "man it's been awhile since I've used these and I kind of miss it. "

      @@HVACRSurvival Hey, I’m not knockin’ the digital sets! They’re amazing! But you know a true tech when you see those beat up analog manifolds come out… Honestly, I appreciate the idea that all your associated temps are right there on the digi’s and you don’t have to do the math, but I have high respect for those that use analog who actually know how to use them. I’ve never owned a digi set, and I’m kiiiinda proud of myself for that 🤣 Or maybe I just like to make things harder on myself and I’m a big moron 🤷🏼‍♂️

    You will find as your Rack system experience continues that those clamps will loosen oven time, especially on the discharge.

    • @jonnyjonnyyespapa8013
      @jonnyjonnyyespapa8013 Рік тому +1

      Those black colored cushion clamps are not even rated for discharge line temps. The plastic will melt and cause the clamp bolt to loosen due to excessive vibration.

    How much of that original charge was left because its not R407F anymore.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  Рік тому

      The same used to be said about all the other blends. I've never had any fractionation problems with 404 but unfortunately 407 f is three blends. I lost a good majority of it, I would guess 80% or more was all new. What I didn't talk about was I didn't have a lot of refrigerant at the store so I couldn't afford to lose what I had and it was over the weekend.

    • @SquashysDaddy
      @SquashysDaddy Рік тому +1

      There’s a considerable temperature glide with any of the 407’s and negligible with R404A. Of all the gasses to be short of….thats a bugger.

    Not an expert, longtime fan. Speaking of which, is the rack room ventilated well? I saw one outside air damper partially open, another closed. Do the exhaust fans and supply dampers generally work in these spaces? Where I work, even after multi-million dollar renovations, they miss the basics like that.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  Рік тому +1

      They are normally controlled by temperature. Usually they work, the room will overheat if not and that would put more load on the compressors.

    • @HVACRSurvival
      @HVACRSurvival  Рік тому +2

      That's just real life, according to the same people that preach 500 microns for everything also tells you that you can't get the moisture out of Poe oil. And a filter dryer is the only way to remove the moisture.

    • @davidturney2975
      @davidturney2975 Рік тому +1
