      @diodedynamics Hi. I have been waiting for a review and comparison of the SL2 H1 bulb as this one is by far the most controversial one. Most manufacturers like honda required some sort of adapter with the H1 bulb. That's why yours are the only reputable brand H1 in compact form on the market. My 06 CR-V uses two pairs of H1 for high and low beams. I would appreciate it if you guys made a video about the H1 SL2 comparing it to the halogen. I already have them in the shopping cart. Thanks

    Now even if it’s not DOT approved, even if u say not good to put led bulbs in a low beam headlights to use in an area of no lights or city lights.
    We still would rather upgrade led bulbs on either projector or reflector. No matter what.
    It’s a huge safety benefits to see better and be seeing better.
    In our states, we have no issues at all putting led bulbs in projector or reflector headlights.

    So, a friend of mine (we're engineers) asked me around 2015 about the feasibiilty of an LED replacement bulb for headlights. I told him don't do it, the technology isn't there.
    It still really isn't - but it's close-ish.
    What you don't want is a diode hanging way out there on the filament location. Instead, you want a fiber coupled blue laser, with the PHOSPHOR conversion out where the filament is (talk to a company called Intematix, who make inorganic phosphors for light conversion. This means you can get the heat down to the base, where there is more area you can use for dissipation without obstructing the light distribution field (you can still reject all the heat into the housing). Imagine having a fiber that is the shape of a filament, covered with the phosphor in about the original dimensions of the filament, and the heat all at the base where it can be rejected into the housing.
    Similar to the signal bulbs - "there was an attempt"... the Xenon Depot 7443 XTREME VF bulbs (no affiliation, I bought some, wasn't happy), try to use a light pipe to move the LED parts down out of the way, but IMHO they didn't "go big" enough. Back in 2020 I recommended to them making the light pipe longer so they could replace the bulb base and put both the driver and heatsink in it, nothing ever came of that from them.
    Diode Dynamics is one of a the few LED bulb manufactuers I've seen using an integration sphere to measure light output - I can pretty much gaurentee that none of the Chinese bulbs do that. But I'm still unhappy with amber bulb intensity in daylight. Best LED replacement I've used has ben a Whelen "factory option" from Ford in my 2015 Police Interceptor - they have somethign they called the "LED Front Lighting Solution" which included LED hide-away strobes, but the amber turn signals had to be integrated into the front firing white strobes in the turn signal location. not only did Whelen nail the bright/dim ratio so that YOU CAN ACTUALLY TELL THE DIFFERENCE, they got the bright output correct.

    Looks promising. A few questions...
    What's the CRI?
    The rated luminous flux of 2400 lumens-is that RAW lumens, or EFFECTIVE lumens?
    Do you have any plans for warmer color temperatures like 4000K?
    Thank you

    • @PondstompingAdventures
      @PondstompingAdventures 5 місяців тому

      CRI is the color rendering index. Scored from 0 to 100. At 0 all colors look the same, at 100 actual true color of the object is revealed. Like daytime on a sunny day. You get the true color of grass, trees, rocks, animals, ect. The closer the score to 100, the better. Eg. At night, you will pick up a deer in dew covered grass in a ditch way better, with a cri that is 100 than say an light that has 50 or 60 CRI.

    • @sherlock_homeslice
      @sherlock_homeslice 5 місяців тому +2

      @@PondstompingAdventures I understand that, I'm wondering what the CRI rating for the SL2 is.

    • @PondstompingAdventures
      @PondstompingAdventures 5 місяців тому

      @sherlock_homeslice sorry, misread your comment. As for sl2 CRI rating, I am not sure. That would be interesting to find out. I personally have only seen some really high quality leds in the past have a maximum of 70 CRI, but that was a couple years ago. I would hope that Diode Dynamics would have at least that at minimum. Hopefully they will get back to these comments and answer them.

    • @diodedynamics
      @diodedynamics  5 місяців тому

      Hey there! At Diode Dynamics, we prioritize the performance characteristics most critical to automotive safety and effectiveness in our lighting products. CRI is less relevant in automotive lighting, where the focus is on visibility, beam pattern, and luminous intensity to ensure safety under various driving conditions. Automotive standards emphasize these aspects rather than color accuracy, as nighttime visibility relies more on light intensity and distribution than on color rendition. Thus, we do not publish CRI values because they do not provide meaningful information in the context of automotive lighting applications.
      Regarding the output - the 2400 lumens is a measured/effective lumen measurement per bulb. Though we don't have any plans for other color temperatures at this time, we will suggest it to our team for you!
      Hope this answers your questions!
