The leg snapper is no joke. Zwiftpower removes anyone who is riding unrealistically so celebrate it, you deserve this win. You have gone so far in your journey, keep it up. Congratulations !!!
My new favourite Zwift video on UA-cam. Not because of the great editing and superb storytelling, but because of how Mark represents what Kaboom is all about. I'm not going to describe it in words as this video says it all. Thank you for sharing your journey and thanks for including Kaboom. Special shout out to Mark and also to Rob for joining the call just to share some good news! Ride on!
HEY ARCTIC Z! You're absolutely right about Team Kaboom and Rob. Epic support from all you guys. Fantastic team spirit but most importantly, fantastic support. Great bunch. Mark was another level. He is an inspiration. Thanks for the comment.
@@RyanCondon great stuff big fella. Keep pushing (with race craft 😀) and you’ll get that elusive in game win soon… then there flood gates will open. 💪👍.
Congrats on the result, another great step of progress for you! That first win across the line will come soon enough, your improvement has been impressive. I got my first Cat D win across the line this week on the Muckle Yin in the ZRacing series this week, and I'm pretty sure I scared my neighbors when I was celebrating by how loud I was yelling, I envision you doing the same when you finally achieve it. Hope one day to see you in the virtual world, good luck and ride on.
Wow! Just Wow! You buried yourself in that race Ryan. What an inspiring journey to follow for those of us who are also looking to improve in Cat D. The quality of the videos and your narrative is also first class - love the authenticity.
Congrats Ryan on your first Zwift Power win. I have just started in with some racing on Zwift from the inspiration of watching your videos. I have made podium 2 times but only to 3rd place. Looking forward to my progress and my first win. Good luck on many more wins!
Congratulations, Ryan! Well deserved! The internet is strange. Why am I so excited for someone I've never met? In all seriousness, hell of a race, you've earned those good feelings.
Great effort Ryan well done, I am a 61 year old 88kg cyclist that uses zwift as my training tool and your videos motivate me to train harder and use my training plan session on a Cat D race, keep them coming
Epic Ryan 👏Big kudos to Mark for the instruction, very helpful for the next time I go racing. I hated this route too when the TDZ had it for Stage 5. Perhaps with the knowledge from Mark I could improve my 1:39 PB up the Leg Snapper. Might give it a go next time I'm not doing a training ride. At this rate Ryan I'll be seeing you in the Cat C's 👍
Ah Ryan well done made us proud 👍. One thing I’ve noticed is on the hills cadence drops way down (49) but on the flats you are at 85. You may have already done this but something to try is riding a higher cadence on the hills see if that helps with fatigue. But a great result 🥇
Thanks Alan. I'm slowly trying to pay back everyone's generosity by mentioning them in my vids. 🤣 You're right about my cadence. It's appalling on hills. I grind when I'm tired. You'll like next weeks vid I think. 😉
great ride mate 🤙🏼. gotta love that feeling of hitting above max heart rate 🥵and not ending up in an ambulance, makes crossing that line soooo much sweeter🎉👍. Agree with Alan drop to next easier gear and will help with that flow. took me ages to get out of the saddle. Thanks for the laugh all the best bro

It's always better with friends!. Great result Ryan , and to think it took a trip to innsbruck and the legsnapper to get that elusive first win. Huge tip of the hat to MarkyMark for showing you a good time, and Zwifty chiming in with the added motivation. Someone will have to invest in a trophy cabinet soon.
Congratulations Ryan. As I’ve said before it took me years to do that. One thing I’ve noticed about your style of riding I would change. It’s not a criticism as everyone is different. All I ask is try it. On some of your climbs your cadence is as low as 48. If I were you, try increasing it to around 80 and see how you get on. I did it in climbing and sprinting and it works for me. Good luck with your first win over the line. Loving the content at the moment. Keep it up.
Thanks! I dont see it as criticism. I know my cadence is poor and it is something I'm working on, in fact its the reason for my video next week. Cheers for watching.
Im so happy for you Ryan, congrats with your first 1 mate! :). Love the tactics with team Kaboom and one great Teammate Mark :)). You`ll never quit Zwift now mate :)) Cheers from Norway :)
Congrats, Ryan. ZP is the standard for what counts as a win. Well done, and what a joy that you got to fight so hard for it. Makes it feel extra special 🎉💪
Congratulations! You did awesome, and your friend gave you good advice! You're right about losing weight. It is the easiest way to get faster. Add it to the hard work on the bike, and you will be C category before too long. I enjoy this type of start as a D or C, and trying to hang on longer than the others in my class. It's a lot more tricky this way, you have to choose when to back off before you self destruct, and then usually have to solo it, or get lucky and have a rider or two, while the pack is at your heels. In a category enforced D only race, you can sit in the pack and plot the best places on the course for your efforts. Usually climbs. But you can do other things. Like if your sprint is a work in progress, you can try longer efforts near the end, or try to break away if there is a hill near the end. On this course you could hit the gas on the last legsnapper, dropping riders and thinning it out (dropping sprinters hopefully :P ) and you'd have a smaller group to contend with near the end.
I’m blown away. Honestly so pleased for you I really mean that you deserve it. I’ve been on Zwift for more than two years. @@RyanCondon if you haven’t tried the new Castle Crit course yet give it a go. It’s got a climb but not as steep. You also get a downhill to recover on right before the climb so it works for us big guys. For me 3 laps on it is my sweet spot. More than that and I’m gassed.
Excuse my foul language effing good job you freaking rock! Now I need to find somebody like you to help me improve on Swift. Congratulations. Damn good job. You deserve a pattern your back with your teammates bravo
Stonking riding, Ryan. And you weren't planning to go too hard, but still pulled out all the stops and bagged a win on a very tough course. Super cool. It is nice to win on the line, and that day is 100% coming very soon, but, in an event like this with sandbaggers, the ZP win is just as cool. Mark is such a top bloke. He's an excellent racer, super strong, and I don't know if you could have a better person helping you out. You both worked excellently together, too. Alright, apart from the first few minutes when you didn't realise you were on his wheel lol
LEE!!! Thanks for watching my friend. Mark was awesome. His calm instructions really helped. I was cracking up when I realised it was Mark at the start I was trying really hard to stay with... I was all proud of myself keeping up with this B only to then realise it was Mark coasting to help me. 😅

Congrats on the W! I like the gaps between the categories at the start. It means if you can sprint up to the As/Bs/Cs you are more likely to drop your competition - if they can’t bridge the gap.
Have you considered joining a team on Zwift? Maybe the only thing more addictive than a Zwift race is doing it with 6-8 other folks suffering together with you and all cheering each other on. Congratulations on the win. Your videos are great. Ride on!

Well done fella 🥇🏆 Reference to comments pre-race about category enforcement (As disguised as Ds etc), a diplomatic video on the subject might go a long way. As a fellow D rider, I've worked my backside off to become competitive (FTP now 2.49 wpkg). It's unreal how many higher categories ruin a D race with their presence. It's not just that they are able to win at the end, it's that they elevate the average pace, meaning the majority are dropped early, while the rest have nothing in the tank to make any tactical moves; i.e. it just becomes a time trial. #SodTheSandBaggers Enjoy your videos and well done again 🍻
Well done my good friend, love the vids, it’s helping me a lot as I’m new to the Zwift community. I think I’m in the wrong category, as you are well destroying me n the watts. Keep the running going as well as this will benefit you with your running.🏃🏻♂️🚴♂️
You are right that you had to increase the participation within Zwift and if people watch you who do not use Zwift well I am sure they got motivated to join. I think what is most compelling is you are fairly new to cycling and a large guy all that make competing on bicycle very difficult. Although it seems in your most recent videos you are doing great at the weight loss. Despite all the reasons to hold back you jumped in with both feet. That is very inspirational. Perhaps time to throw in some videos on weight loss as you clearly know how to pull that off. Congrats on the win which was what I started this comment to do but honestly you are one of those posters that I never fast forward through. Oh and what is a power race. Is it where all categories are in the race? Seems to be a win equal to one with only D's although I guess it is more rewarding to win outright. In the Crits I did and I was in my 40s they grouped my age group with the young guys so same thing but on the road. If you can find some Crits that are on a good course you might have some fun. By good course some I have done only had a little bump in the course not huge hills. When you go against these guys that are 120 pound you just do not stand a chance on a long steep hill. But carry on, do not suspect you could ever get down to 120 as you look to be a big strong guy but as you drop weight you have the heart to do well.
Thanks for taking the time to write this comment Tony. I really really appreciate that. I will make a vid about weightloss, probably the only thing I can talk confidently about. I am going in the right direction with my cycling, next step is to venture out into the roads. 💪
That sir is an amazing effort! Killer course for racing on and you smashed it 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I’ve been bumped up to Cat C so hopefully see you there soon! 👍🏻
@ryan we gotta get you sprint training. The kind of efforts you put in the zwift starts to 700+ watts need to be repeatable in training. This way, you still have a sprint saved up for the banner. You should look into getting into the Snow Sprints series, or any group rides where they go for sprint segments. You've gotta pull up with your hamstrings and hip flexors to generate more power. Better yet, take a dip into the tiny races on Saturdays.
They normally do but when you setup a race (like this one) the race organiser can turn off the 'Category Enforced' rule. I dont know why and from the looks of thing neither does anyone else. Thanks for watching.
You have made me a little more brave to enter a race. I'm 57 years old and 57kg and are rated Cat A .But I can't put out mega watts and only do ok on the Climbs. Still with a nervous twitch I might try a race. Smashing Video as usual 👍👍
Cracking video Ryan and amazing performance in that race. Not being able to see you whilst I was speaking to you, I didn't realise quite how hard you were working. Amazing effort mate and congrats again on the win. I didn't realise when you arranged the ride with Darren that it was a planned social ride 🤣 👊💪💪💪

Well done! I made my Mrs watch this and she was delighted for you as well. Also if you're a person reading this who is a Cat A rider who rides in D, you are a Bellend.
Well done with a win although i understand it doesn't feel like a proper win as you didn't cross the line first. However it shows how great your progress has been since your first race (it could be your new favourite route, as no one likes the leg snapper haha)

Reference to comments pre-race about category enforcement (As disguised as Ds etc), a diplomatic video on the subject might go a long way.

Enjoy your videos and well done again 🍻
Well done my good friend, love the vids, it’s helping me a lot as I’m new to the Zwift community. I think I’m in the wrong category, as you are well destroying me n the watts. Keep the running going as well as this will benefit you with your running.🏃🏻♂️🚴♂️
Thanks Geoff. You're not in the wrong Cat. Keep pushing, it's as much tactics as it is raw power. Don't worry, if I can do it then so can you. 💪
Wel don good see your got it
Well done 👏👏👏👏
Thank you Franny. 🙌
Yeeeees! Great race and a great win Ryan! Just remember… in Zwift, it’s always a race 🎉🚀💥
Always 🙌
Great Ride Ryan 🎉
Cheers James.
Congratulations on your promo. Good for you. 🙌💪
@@RyanCondon well it’s back up after being demoted but I’ll take it. Cat C is a big level up
Awesome job mate!
Thanks. 👍
Great job!!!🎉
Thank you Debbie. 👌
Congrats, great inspirational video, I was wondering what bike and wheels are you using in zwift
Thanks. Im not 100% sure. I need to check. I'm using a set a very good Zwifty told me to use based on my level and what's available to me.
Well done mate 🚴♂️
Thanks Sam. 🙌
Great Job!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! You would think that Zwift would somehow prevent that number of sandbaggers racing in a category that is too low.
Good luck. Doesn't matter if you come last. It's all fun. 💪
Well done Ryan
Cracking video Ryan and amazing performance in that race. Not being able to see you whilst I was speaking to you, I didn't realise quite how hard you were working. Amazing effort mate and congrats again on the win. I didn't realise when you arranged the ride with Darren that it was a planned social ride 🤣 👊💪💪💪
Lol I'm starting to realise that you guys do not know the meaning of the word "social". 😅
Great riding with you and more importantly learning from you. Thank you again. 👌
@@RyanCondon My pleasure mate. I love helping out fellow Zwifters, it's more fun than racing! Looking forward to our next Big Ring outing with RT!
Pen assignments are randomly selected by Zwift HQ. Nobody knows which cat starts in which pen.
Well done! I made my Mrs watch this and she was delighted for you as well. Also if you're a person reading this who is a Cat A rider who rides in D, you are a Bellend.
Thanks Allen. Pleased you both enjoyed it.
Chuffed for you 💪 It was only ever a matter of time 😀
I am definely entertained!
ZP are the only results that matter anyway
I'm pleased you're entertained. That's the main thing. 😉💪
Brill!
Well done with a win although i understand it doesn't feel like a proper win as you didn't cross the line first. However it shows how great your progress has been since your first race (it could be your new favourite route, as no one likes the leg snapper haha)
Its grown on me. Lol 💪
