Like FD1, the big opening disaster scene in FD5 is loosely based on an actual historical event (the Sunshine Skyway Bridge collapse in 1980). Having grown up in the Tampa Bay area and knowing the history, this whole scene is pure nightmare fuel.
Roxy, you asked if it was direct to DVD. Well, it almost was. We reshot almost twenty five pages of the movie in a Hail Mary effort to salvage it into... something. And it turned out to be the most successful installment by far, theatrically grossing $206m worldwide on a $45m budget. Which was the ONLY reason we got the ticket to redemption that was FD5. I could write an entire book about what happened during the making of this movie. But I'll only reveal the truth if I'm deposed. Fun reaction!
The Final Destination production suffered the same fate as the Saw series, where the absolutely ridiculous kills and use of 3D in the most eye-popping fashion was their main concern instead of dialogue substance or acting ability..Entertaining but mind numbing and emotionless

Fr I've always loved swimming and don't have a fear of deep water or drowning. But this damn movie did make me avoid going to the pool for a whole summer 💀
They put that scene in like a year after an actual incident where the same thing happened to a dude somewhere in America. They got flak for that scene 😅it's ROUGH still
I now need like a detective Roxy and Greg show. Just to see Roxy trying to figure out who the killer ( he’s that guy from that one party and drank with that one girl from that other party) and Greg just being a patient partner letting Roxy do her thing.
I rarely watch reactions but this whole series with Greg and Roxy has been such a ride. I hope you do some other horror franchises. Maybe like Saw or the Purge or something.
So both Roxy and I have seen the Saw movies but.... got two other people here who havent seen the Saw movies. And I just previewed the raw footage of their reaction...its good 😂
whoa good timing i was just wonder what i was going to see.thank you Greg and Roxy for making my day better love from Portugal and sorry for my english love you guys(=thumbs up as usual
The acting in this movie kind of makes you wonder if they just used the very first take of every scene. No reshoots. We got it. It's good. ::dusts off hands::
And Rejects called called out it felt like a TV show due to acting and cinematography - I bet it's because they didn't want to take time for normal reverse-angle shots with the extensive 3D camera set up. I imagine they set the camera in one place and then just moved it slightly and repositioned the actors for different "angles" which really weren't different angles so it feels front-presentational like a stage show or a TV show where you never see the other side of the living room.
From what I remember of the time, when this movie was announced there was already a bit of fatigue in the franchise. People had doubts that they could keep the concept fresh & began looking at the franchise as torture p*rn like Saw. Plus there was a feeling of predictability & no stakes since you knew all the characters would die. I think the studio tried to embrace that fans would only show up for the deaths by making them a spectacle with the 3D. All the promo for this movie from what I remember what about the 3D gimmick. Most mainstream horror movies around this time were also just lifeless remakes w/ hot casts & this movie followed that trend, even phrasing it as “The Final Destination” to fit in with the remakes.. I think the timing of this movie kinda doomed it from the start but there’s still some fun moments.
Man this one was terrible. The one after this is actually really good. Greg constantly dumping on this was the best thing. Roxy thinking car washes are sexy is the most outrageous thing I have heard this week.
On gawd I salute him for dealing with this for 4 movies now. That last reaction I wanted to come through their monitor like the girl from the ring. Just to tell her to shut tf up.
I don’t know how he can deal with her saying every single thing that comes to her mind 😅 sometimes she just keeps talking when it seems like Greg is just trying to watch the movie
@@libbyallen2566 Just saying that saying its a line from someone who doesn't need to use tampons. I rewatched the final destination 5 to remember things cause I honestly forgot about it and I think Roxy will like it. The only thing I remember on this final destination 4 is the escalator thing cause after I watched it I started being careful with my shoelaces whenever I am in an escalator.
i was truly scared to go into public pools for a while even though that scenario in the movie would almost never happen. (i say almost cause you just never know)
This is inspired by the Chuck Palahniuk short story _Guts_ which is available online. It was in turn based on an unfortunately real story of a girl who got stuck on a kiddie pool drain and was eviscerated. The story is readable online, but INCREDIBLY nauseating and disturbing and NSFW due to sexual content and descriptive gore. Don't read it if you don't want to ruin your day.
So, one of the writers from this one also being a writer from FD2 would explain why the characters weren’t relatable in the 2nd one, either. There was no investment and the only characters I cared about were the main girl and the cop. So, maybe it’s the writer and director together as a combo that made these subpar compared to the others. The fact that the 5th one completely turned it around actually has me excited about the 6th.
Idk I kinda feel like the people in the second one were pretty relatable and I ended up liking them. Especially the mom and Eugine. This one was just a complete flop
@@tmm4195 I *do* appreciate that they made a connection in the 2nd one to the characters in the first. That definitely helped with the relatability. I had forgotten about that.
He also played one of Christy's boyfriends on Mom, and I must say, the few years between this movie and that show were VERY kind. He was absolutely drop-dead gorgeous on that show.
After the movie Avatar came out, suddenly there were a ton of movies using 3D, but not bothering to make the rest of the movie/effects good. There a whole bunch of sub-par movies around this time. I'm glad that we've finally moved on from 3D movies.
The 5th one is my favorite one out of the franchise. I can't wait for you guys to watch it. I remember seeing it in theaters and was relieved at how good it was after the 4th one haha.
I feel personally attacked by the 5th being your favorite but that’s a me problem. It’s 1 & 3. Then 2, 5, 4. I’m really attached to 1 and consider it a classic but watched 3 endlessly when I got the DVD. I remain unattached to 5. But the first 3 are in my heart.
Pool filter death explanation: The entire guy didn't get sucked into the pool filter. His butt was stuck on the suction and his squirming centered his hole over the suction. They show a close up of his chest caving inward indicating that his internal organs are being sucked out of him through his butthole over the filter. That's why you see blood and intestines come out of the filter when it explodes. This unlocked a new fear in me.
The director of this one and 2 has experience with stunts, which is really apparent in the two crash sequences. But I think they were really focusing on extremism, the deaths, and the 3D more than the actual plot. They were really looking for shock value in this one, even with the seggs scene. While nudity is in the others, this is the only movie that has it full on. Not to mention the rock version of the final destination theme, lol. This one is very “Boom! Crash! Bam! Guts! Blood! Ahhh!”
In the hair salon scene, has anyone noticed and realized the boys have numbers on their uniforms? The boy in the red uniform has the number 9 on it and the boy in the blue uniform has the number 20 on it. Both numbers multiplied into the number "180", which is the number of the airplane from the first Final Destination film.
The opening sequence looks like they were really struggling to come up with all these different reasons for death to do his thing. Especially the concrete cracking, which is quite a stretch. Smells of very hacky writing.
40:29 ~ That’s actually happened to numerous people, including a mother in China who had just enough time to yeet her child to safety before she was, yeah The bit with the pool was also based on real events though I think a child was involved and they survived albeit badly hurt On a side note, the original scene saw the guy’s guts being pumped right back in the pool. Kinda prefer the one we got, to be honest
The thing about the main characters is that we don’t know anything about them or their lives. Do they have family? Do they work? School? Have past trauma? All we know is they’re dating each other… that’s it… I don’t even think we got their names did we?
Just imagine going on a date with Roxy.... "Where are we going? The restaurant is the other way....wait, is that a....a......car wash? You're pulling in the car wash!?" *unizps everything*
This was and still is the one that the producer, Craig, states he did not like releasing. I think the director/editor were truly just attempting to see how far 3D could go, and they got off of the plot point along the way. Craig returned for #5 and It is my favorite, I believe he is shooting or just finished shooting #6. He obviously can’t talk about it though, strike and all. Hope you two stay well. 😊
It looks like he shat out his intestines thats how I feel in the bathroom after I drink a cup of coffee😂 but seriously I can't get that death out of my head that death it makes me uncomfortable but can't stop thinking😥
Let's gooo this one is really goofy but I think it's really rewatchable because of that😂😂 like all the 3D stuff and the awful characterizations are downright hilarious. The 3rd is my favorite but the 5th is the best so that's gonna be awesome
Ive seen most of the actors elsewhere and they aren't bad actors, it was a mix of the writing, it was so melodramatic and teen movie-esque and they clearly made things to fit the 3D rather than aesthetics. It seems like the studio had too much of a hand in it.
Another great reaction! Keep rocking you guys! Roxy kills it as always! I wish she could do alot of voice overs in her career. She has that beautiful raspy voice like Sophia Bush from One Tree Hill. Their voices are awesome and unique. 😎👍🏽👍🏽
The main guy’s girlfriend is from “the flash” and” the Boys” her name is Chantelle and the blonde dude is called Nate from Legends of Tomorrow and that Kings Dead video
I'm so effin glad Greg realized who that actress Shantel is. I was hoping he'd realize she was in The Boys and The Flash. She had great chemistry with Grant. And she was great in The Boys. Enjoy your after movie thoughts and chats. Keep em coming!
31:42 "All of him?" No. NGL.. This one unlocked a new irrational fear in me.
What's especially messed up about this one is that the pool filter scene has actually happened before to people in real life. The former US Senator John Edwards (D-NC) made a name for himself as a private attorney suing a pool company whose filter caused a similar injury to a young child in North Carolina. Thankfully, the child survived, but lost several feet of intestines in the accident.
Yeah I knew it was real as well, that’s an injury you don’t forget hearing about. chuck pahlinuck (not spelled correct but the guy who wrote fight club) has a story about it that was brutal to read.
This is a movie I feel grows on you the more you watch it because there’s so many Easter eggs. Especially the “It’s coming” “it’s here” bit throughout the visions.
Without spoiling anything about the 5th one I will say that it has my favourite ending of all of them. The entire story was very satisfying and they could have ended the whole franchise there but I am happy there will be a 6th one coming soon.
The worst part about the cgi in the racetrack scene is that they filmed it practical. It just got covered up with bad blood and fire effects in post because someone thought it would look better with a bit more. But they actually filmed flaming cars getting shot into the stands, the behind the scenes for it was really cool
It really is Craig Perry the producer in the comments! Not an imposter, He did an interview with the CineBinge reaction channel. You guys should definitely try to get him on if you can.
The 3D movie in a franchise is always guaranteed to be bad. Jaws 3, Friday the 13th III, Silent Hill: Revelation, this one, etc. The pool guy didn't get sucked into the drain. His intestines got sucked out his orifice. It's actually happened at least once to a child. That's why everyone is now collectively afraid of pool drains.
This has been such a fun ride love you guys honestly get these reactions out pretty quick love that, and it’s always fun watching you guys try to figure out what’s deaths plan this time around this isn’t the best one tbh but still fun to watch, keep it up love the channel 👏🏾💓 Edit: yes this was 3D and it was super fun to watch in theaters and the pool scene very real situation still puts a little fear in my heart
James from Dead Meat said a lot of the stunts were actually practical but they had to replace it with CGI cuz the 3D bs, well at least from what I remember but that's just one aspect of the film maybe look up the kill count video from Dead Meat, James tends to give BTS details about the film sometimes
yes, I get some of the effects and acting wasn’t good but the deaths still lived up to the previous ones imo. And I still like this one more than FD1, FD1 is my least favourite. And I absolutely LOVE how the credit scenes and stuff have those X-ray shots of the previous deaths. And I love the extra thing of how he sees how each individual person dies bc it’s fun to figure out how they die yourself
To be fair in Hunt's case, it actually happened in real life. A little girl had her insides sucked by the drain pool. She's alive but she had to go through extensive surgeries.
McKinley sounds familiar because it was the name of the highschool in the 3rd movie, also that movie took place in McKinley, Pennsylvania, and there was Ian McKinley who tried to unalive Wendy who was the last one on death's list.
The music composer of the first three films died before The Final Destination came out. The music is what made the first 3 films watchable and actually scary. RIP Shirley Walker.
First off. Roxy is just awesome with Horror reactions and this franchises has been so fun with you two. I’ll say that I know I saw this close to when it was released but now I know why I didn’t remember it. The pacing and plot was so bad in their version compared to the previous ones. I feel the studio picked so hard for the 3D element that the quality of storytelling dropped. Hopefully the next one is better. I don’t even know if I saw it but it’ll be fun to watch. Keep up the awesome reactions. Also if I was dating Roxy I would totally see why car washes are hot. Lol

Seriously in this movie the only thing they want to do is too make babies instead of doing a proper introduction😂😂😂
can't wait til 5 cause those deaths are suspenseful and cringe-inducing and the end is just ugh I love it
I'd never thought about it, but this one does feel like a CW show gone wrong
Blonde boy wasn't sucked into the drain. He was disemboweled. It pulled out his guts
It looks like he shat out his intestines thats how I feel in the bathroom after I drink a cup of coffee😂 but seriously I can't get that death out of my head that death it makes me uncomfortable but can't stop thinking😥
Final Destination 5 is amazing, they really brought the series back to being great
Let's gooo this one is really goofy but I think it's really rewatchable because of that😂😂 like all the 3D stuff and the awful characterizations are downright hilarious.
Becca should have called Butcher or even Homelander to save their group from Death in this movie
The best parts of this movie are the intro credits, and the outro credits.
Yeah, this movie definitely feels like a TV movie from MTV itself hahah
31:42 "All of him?" No.
NGL.. This one unlocked a new irrational fear in me.
You’ll keep me around 4ever if you keep doing these great reviews! The people love Roxy and Greg and all the rejects 4life
What's especially messed up about this one is that the pool filter scene has actually happened before to people in real life. The former US Senator John Edwards (D-NC) made a name for himself as a private attorney suing a pool company whose filter caused a similar injury to a young child in North Carolina. Thankfully, the child survived, but lost several feet of intestines in the accident.
Oh wow
Yeah I knew it was real as well, that’s an injury you don’t forget hearing about. chuck pahlinuck (not spelled correct but the guy who wrote fight club) has a story about it that was brutal to read.
This is a movie I feel grows on you the more you watch it because there’s so many Easter eggs. Especially the “It’s coming” “it’s here” bit throughout the visions.
@3:45 Roxy still tryna figure out the name in her head lol
This reaction was great! 😂 Thank you both lol.
He said, "Outside of FD4." OH outside indeed my dear director 😅😅😂
Without spoiling anything about the 5th one I will say that it has my favourite ending of all of them.
The entire story was very satisfying and they could have ended the whole franchise there but I am happy there will be a 6th one coming soon.
can i just say i really enjoy the conversations you guys have after watching something at the end
I loved the theme song to this movie, I don’t remember much about it but the song was really good!
Mykelti Williamson was the in the cancelled Fugitive tv series, NBC’s Boomtown & Season 3 of Justified.
I cannot wait for final destination 5 reaction! Everybody knows why 😁
The worst part about the cgi in the racetrack scene is that they filmed it practical. It just got covered up with bad blood and fire effects in post because someone thought it would look better with a bit more. But they actually filmed flaming cars getting shot into the stands, the behind the scenes for it was really cool
Protect Roxy at all damn costs.
It really is Craig Perry the producer in the comments! Not an imposter, He did an interview with the CineBinge reaction channel. You guys should definitely try to get him on if you can.
Final destination 5 is a really good one. I can't wait to see your reaction to it
❤❤😂😂 OMGOSH you two are hilarious! Roxy no getting nasty at the car wash ok. Haha 😆 you two are what made this video entertaining.
Yes! Final destination 5nis getting closer😂
This has been such a fun ride love you guys honestly get these reactions out pretty quick love that, and it’s always fun watching you guys try to figure out what’s deaths plan this time around this isn’t the best one tbh but still fun to watch, keep it up love the channel 👏🏾💓
Edit: yes this was 3D and it was super fun to watch in theaters and the pool scene very real situation still puts a little fear in my heart
26:54- 'CLEAR RIVERS' Water😅
James from Dead Meat said a lot of the stunts were actually practical but they had to replace it with CGI cuz the 3D bs, well at least from what I remember but that's just one aspect of the film maybe look up the kill count video from Dead Meat, James tends to give BTS details about the film sometimes
@37.40 The sign on the bus is reversed: Love Lays Dying. 15 years later Kristen Stewart makes the movie: Love Lies Bleeding.
Just you wait until FINAL DESTINATION 5, there is something that will blow your mind.
I’m so excited for this exact thing. She needs to hurry back QUICKLY 😩
yes, I get some of the effects and acting wasn’t good but the deaths still lived up to the previous ones imo. And I still like this one more than FD1, FD1 is my least favourite. And I absolutely LOVE how the credit scenes and stuff have those X-ray shots of the previous deaths. And I love the extra thing of how he sees how each individual person dies bc it’s fun to figure out how they die yourself
YESSSS! I LOVE THESE REACTIONS!!
Great catch with the closed captions‼️👍
Been fun rewatching these movies with yall 2, lol
To be fair in Hunt's case, it actually happened in real life.
A little girl had her insides sucked by the drain pool. She's alive but she had to go through extensive surgeries.
Now I’m scared of pools.
I found the IMDB stuff at the end to be immensely more entertaining than the movie itself 🤣
31:38 I believe the swimming pool death was inspired by the short story “Guts” from the book “Haunted” by Chuck Palahniuk.
"Well, that happened," is a perfect encapsulation of this movie. 😆
Love the chemistry between you guys.
Loved the reaction guys!! Can't wait for the finale ♥
McKinley sounds familiar because it was the name of the highschool in the 3rd movie, also that movie took place in McKinley, Pennsylvania, and there was Ian McKinley who tried to unalive Wendy who was the last one on death's list.
Extremely excited for you to see the next one. Probably my favorite of these films overall and its a huge step up from this one.
That actress was also Butcher's wife, Becca, in The Boys.
And the actor who plays Nick was in the TV series Scream
I like how at the end of this reaction y'all do a deep dive on what went wrong with this terrible movie lmao.
The music composer of the first three films died before The Final Destination came out. The music is what made the first 3 films watchable and actually scary. RIP Shirley Walker.
You know you're in for a good bad time when you involuntary whisper "Oh no" when you receive this notification.
31:47 Greg’s denial of her being good is hilarious
Lol
From the same people who made the second one. Wild.
