I am surprised that no one ever mentions that There is an almost identical dial design from an older hamilton khaki model (reference H694190). It's beautiful in my opinion. Same aura but more military looking
I have bought this one. It is the only watch I can think of that didn't exist in reality and was brought into existence by popular demand. It was iconic before it was even made ! That attests to its beauty. It exudes class and good taste and makes an impression that very few watches below £3000 can deliver. In this respect it is very good value for money and scratches a lot of itches at an affordable price point - it's certainly knocked that Rolex Explorer off my shopping list.
I really like the aesthetics and build quality of this watch. I’m not sure I would ever pay full retail price but I would definitely consider buying it as previously owned. The only tiny thing I wish they would have included was the eureka printed in Morse code on the second hand. Not a deal breaker, but it would have been a fitting touch. Your willingness to cover all brands and types of watches along with your unique presentation style is what makes your channel successful. I’m so glad I subscribed. Well done🥃
My favourite watch! I'm wearing it right now, and have been consistently wearing it 5-6 days a week since getting it last year. Whenever I wear something else, I start to miss the Murph a little bit. For sure it's overpriced, probably due to the movie connection, but I've worn it and enjoyed it so much that I'm okay with the price. Haven't had any desire to add anything else to my collection, so this might be it for a long while!
I got the 'old' Murph a few years ago and it still gets plenty of wrist time. It was a new watch that was designed to look dated hence no anti reflective coating and the blasted hands that resemble an aged look to them. This combined with the faux aged lume works really well in my humble opinion. It is a larger watch but is in fitting with the one used in the film and those lugs sweep downwards so the extended lug to lug is no problem on my 7" wrist. The new version looks brilliant but I'll be sticking with my old one but I would certainly consider it if I didn't have mine. I also have the Khaki Mechanical that if anything gets slightly more wrist time than my Murph but it's a close call. Many thanks for sharing.
This 38mm varient is my favorite watch that Hamilton makes and it isnt because of the "movie" connection it is just because it is a gorgeous time piece that is lovely to behold I have heard owners complain that the AR coating isnt very good with some owners even going as far as to have the chrystal replaced by their local watchsmiths to have more AR coating.
I love the look of this watch. Even the fauxtina, which I usually hate, looks good with this watch. I've had my eye on this for a while, but I won't pay full price for it.
Beautiful timepiece from hamilton! It reminds me of how watch making should be, this watch definitely has that x factor for shure and the price is 😮for what your actually getting it would grace anyones collection including mine😊
As an owner of this watch. I love it. It failed to scratch my Rolex Explorer itch, but it grew on me again. I’ve learned that I strongly prefer a lacquered dial over a matte finished dial. Do I feel like I overpaid for it? Yes. Do I regret it? Not really.
Ive ( mostly ) had this watch for a while and its great! I say mostly because a good deal of the time my girlfriend takes it and wears it for a few days, especially when she goes into her office job. Overall thats actually a good thing because she really like it and i get to give some wrist time to something else. Then when I get it back for a few days I kind of rediscover what a cool looking watch it is and appreciate it all over again. Nice review and I like that leather sports strap.
Nice video as always, I am thinking more and more to evolve into "1 watch collection" and this watch could be the one. This watch ( by what it's represent in our popular culture) in a certain way seems to be able to connect it's wearer with the universe. Times are changing.
The Murph isn't even the best Hamilton in interstellar which is the Hamilton Khaki Pilot day date 'Cooper'. I went to the AD to buy the Murph and was severely unimpressed by both the 42 and the 38. I really didn't like the leather strap either so I ended up walking out with the stunning Cooper. Not a single regret; it's absolutely phenomenal.
After buying this one (38mm) , I think the only watch type you'll need is, an Omega or Rolex level luxury watch for chic occasions. For anything else, this alone will do the job perfectly.
I don't mind the "lower" beatrate of 21.600 vph just from a mechanical engineering point of view (less friction, material fatigue of the spring the oils lasting longer etc..) The second's hand doesn't have a nice sweep to it like a higher beatrate 28.800 but well you do get a long power reserve what (for me) coming from only quartz watches is probably a nice welcome bcs it will still run when I put it back on after the weekend.
Great review! How does this Hamilton compare to the Alpinist limited edition Europe that you reviewed a while ago? Which one would you stay with? Thanks
Lovely looking watch, I would seriously consider one for my sons and i, if it wasnt for the crappy movement!! Hamilton 'please' put in the ETA 2824-2 COSC, that you (ETA Watch Group) have put in the Tissot Heritage COSC 1938!! Also the Dirty Dozen field watches were British, not American.
Much better looking than the regular Khaki. This version is actually somewhat elegant, which is the last thing I would call the regular one. Knowing Hamilton, however, I would expect the lume to suck rocks.
I've been torn between this 38mm Murph and the Smiths Everest Honeycomb for a while... the Murph is absolutely gorgeous, but it's difficult to justify paying double the price of the Smiths (if you can get your hands on one, of course).
I am surprised that no one ever mentions that There is an almost identical dial design from an older hamilton khaki model (reference H694190). It's beautiful in my opinion. Same aura but more military looking
Great review. I’ve owned this watch for a while, and have just regrettably sold it. The only improvements I would make: improved AR coating, swap the power reserve for a 4hz, closed case back - perhaps with interstellar themed engraving. Otherwise it’s great. Only sold it to pay for another watch, which I’m now not totally sold on - hence the regret 😂
I went to buy this watch and i was very dissapoited. This watch outsise in light its hard to see the time. Happy to see the watch in person and not buying it blind buy. And strap is very short and i advise see it before buying it.
Big watches are a big problem we all must fix URGENTLY!! 38mm is too big, let’s all protest in the streets and demand a 29mm version. Let’s tell everyone on social media that men want little girl watches!! 😮😂
Nice watch but it looks better in shots than it does on wrist to me. Plus it reflects off literally anything, which is off putting considering the price
As much as I love Hamilton (own a KFM and like a few others) the Murph to me looks a bit morose, formal, like an undertaker's watch and it leaves me .. cold.
It's okay but not great. I would take the Baby Alpinist over the Hamilton and the Longines. If Seiko and Boldr can make their field watches with a 20 ATM rating, why can't the Swatch Group? I would like to snorkel, sail and free dive without wearing a dive watch.
@@BraveBeaters true; love the new DS-2 but it's difficult to find a true field watch look with Arabic numbers all around with good water resistance. love the Omega Railmaster Denim, also, but it's a bit pricey for my taste.
Tooooooooo fancy to be a proper field watch, fixed lugs … lightweight, well built, movies 🎥…. 🤣 live in the real world, landscapers/ military, firefighters eg would never wear something shiny ✨ & polished, bit like wearing a suit to a building site …
Had one for a couple of months now... I do enjoy it but the included strap is one of the worst I have ever seen and the lume is terribly weak. Worth the RRP? Hell no but you can find it on sale, I paid £680 new.
In no world should this watch be priced as it is--except a post-COVID world where everything is increasingly more expensive relative to what the actual value of the item(s) is/are. The film connection doesn't justify the cost of this piece, which is essentially yet another understated H-10-powered field watch from Hamilton. The AR and lume appear to be fairly weak as well--hard pass.

some of the best watch content I have ever seen, wow
The Murph is so well balanced. I love its simplicity and legibility. If there's one thing Hamilton excels at, its the field watch category.
Cute little watch. Thanks for the review.

I got myself 38mm version on Black Friday. Great one. BUT TIssot le locle is still my favorite
Yes, that's a special one :)
I need to go try both sizes on. I don’t mind large watches despite a smaller wrist.

I agree. They make it to increase the power reserve. helps having less friction, yes. Cheers! :)
Wearing it with Hamilton bracelet now and my murph 38 gets the most wrist time compared to my other watches! I wear it more than my BB58!

Wll the Alpinist OEM bracelet fit this Murph 38 case?
Hard to choose between this Murph 38 and the Baltic Hermetique!
This has been out for a while. Why are videos coming out now?
I have the exactly same question, it is been two times I find a similar video
I was just about to say the same thing. It's been out for around a year. A JOMW review yesterday and now this one...
I was thinking the same yesterday 😩
Edit: i was close to getting one before but i think a CW might be a better buy for similar dollar amount.
Same, this is so creepy. I thought it was a new edition of the smaller version. What's going on.
Maybe something is happening in the background that Hamilton has been stirring up needing some social media

Iconico ,elegante,senza tempo❤
Good looking watch. Seems the price is higher because of the movie connection maybe? I'd get a khaki field for half the price. Cheers!
It'a a mixture of step up in quality with the hype of the movie, yes :)

Very nice Watch....but a prefer the 42 mm version because is exatly the Interstellar movie version....(eureka morse code)
Agree, that version is way more relevant for the significance of the movie :)

Can I ask which nato strap you paired with it please?
That Ventura obsessed me for a while ..,, fortunately never ended up getting one :)))
Haha! Better
Heyy! I loved the drilled leather strap you put on the murph! where could I find that strap?
Im also curious about that. Not in the description🥲
This watch wears like a dream on my 6,5 inch.
Waiting for an uncle strap senator bracelet to go with this
Murph38 owner here. That nato you have looks AMAZING on it! Which is it?
It's from aliexpress :D a premium ish nato
Not to far away in Gilbert, Az 🎉
I do love the look of this. But holy crap the price. Is there anything similar for under say $300 sized around 40mm?
What about servicing the watch? What worries me at powermatic and Hamilton movements is where and how much will cost to mantain the movement
Uncle Straps carries a bracelet for the Murph.
I went to buy this watch and i was very dissapoited. This watch outsise in light its hard to see the time. Happy to see the watch in person and not buying it blind buy. And strap is very short and i advise see it before buying it.
Looks good. Have the 38. I don’t think of the numbers as fauxtina it’s just a color that’s not white. But the lume stinks.

Have the 42 but want the 38. So as a compromise I will get the 38 for my favorite nephew. The ungrateful kid.

Powermatics/ ETA's :)
@@BraveBeaters I know - but not great for it's price. Still - beautiful watch...

Diminishing returns law applies … ;)
Not so fun fact: But the 38mm does not have the Morse code from Interstellar on the watch hands.
Yet, interestingly the morse code in the movie said "stay". Not eureka. It is better to remove it...
6:18. Uncle seiko has one
Thank you! I will check it out.
You forgot many others
The size is perfect, the price is not.
beautiful watch but... BUT the saphire is so reflective, it's bearly readable...
Yes
Almost perfect if not the lack of AR coating. So irritating
I appreciate your videos. I like the Murph but somehow it always evokes a slight impression of being an overpriced marketing stunt.

The name should be Hamilton Mirror Field. Look at the glare. Ridiculous like all the others. By the way, I own a kahki field.
'the perfect field watch' ??
