I feel like the most underappreciated line is "If we can break through the ceiling above us, there's no point in looking below." Like this one line both signifies the potential of wealth being put in front of others wellbeing, and is a Segway into the songs 'inner meaning.'
That is my favorite part about this video, everyone that broke through the ceiling looked up and went up too, the couple watching TV, wall street business men, the rebel looked up and the cop looked down.
What if we all seek the bottom of the pit, maybe breaking the floor will get us below the abyss and outside the whelm? Break through the floor below us, there is no point listening to what's above us??
If we can learn to rule ourselves, then there's no need to look down on anyone else, because we will all be kings of ourselves and our own lives. It seems very anarchism/anarcho-libertarianism. At least that's my take. Could be my own bias.
The song is about the balance of power in our world, and how easily we fall in pursuit of that power. The brainwashed get dragged back under the spell once woken, the politician must cannibalize himself and his own beliefs to survive, the businessmen only has so much time before he too is toppled, the police can commit acts of savagery for as long as the people allow him, and the rebels can be free only as long as they are willing to die for their cause. Only those who do not chase power, truly have it. If you never seek to get "on top" you'll find yourself already there.

And maybe you get to stand for some time at the end of the pyramid but... then what? Probably sooner or later you'll come across someone who's just better than you, or has "worked more and harder", and again, then what? It is an ilussional sense of poupose. Returning to the conception of success, while the rebel found a sense of accomplishment in fighting against that oppression in the sake of freedom, that search lead him to use violence, and that violence met more violence. In the other hand, the cop "succeeded" through the exessive use of violence and oppression, and total impunity was granted to him (no one did nothing, just filmed him while he beated the sh*it out the guy with the hoodie). I think the most unfortunate scenario was the one with the "swimmers", imo, they were the only ones who embraced true sense of success, they found true freedom by getting to swim up to the surface of that uncertain and absorbent realm that is media and TV. They stared at eachother and probably found the notion of The Other, true connection between people. Although it didn't last long. They were soon dragged down again to the dephts of ignorance. In the minwhile the politicians are eating eachother, i don't have much to say about it, i think it's all pretty obvious, they are just visible faces, power figures, deep down they're all the same. The song “Kings” by Tribe Society is a powerful anthem of emancipation and liberation. The lyrics evoke a journey towards freedom from social constraints and personal limitations. The opening lines, “Running with all my brothers / I always wondered how far we could go,” reveal a sense of camaraderie and collective ambition. The idea of breaking through the ceiling symbolizes overcoming barriers and reaching new heights, both metaphorically and literally. This sets the tone for a story of struggle for freedom and personal fulfillment. The recurring theme of freedom is emphasized throughout the song. Lyrics like "We will continue to be free, we will continue to be free / Finally, we will continue to be free" emphasize a desire for liberation from various forms of oppression and suffering. The mention of “darkest caves and suffering” and “a hundred steps to the end of the road” paints a vivid picture of the struggles he faced throughout the journey. Despite these difficulties, the protagonist remains optimistic, as stated "Painted with passion, my favorite color / I hope to be alive when the story is old". This suggests that passion and hope are the driving forces in his quest for freedom. The chorus, “I'm not at home, it's home I'm going / I close my eyes to see / I will take my throne, I will place it on a mountain / And I will make myself king”, sums up the essence of the song. It evokes the idea of creating your own destiny and finding a place to belong. The act of “making yourself king” is a metaphor for empowerment and taking control of your life. The repetition of “whoa-oh-oh” adds a triumphant, celebratory tone, reinforcing the message of self-liberation. The song ends with a powerful declaration of liberation from envelopes and chains, symbolizing the ultimate achievement of freedom and self-sovereignty. Lyrics layers
I had been listening to this one since day one, was late in seeing the video though. Definitely wasn't expecting the song to be so full of symbolism, I love it.
You're the only one stopping yourself from achieving your own dreams. You're already a king/queen if you stop chasing the crown. Whatever it is, let's just appreciate the song.
broo i have heard this song before and i forgot about it and then i rememberd the song again but i couldnt find it i searched so many channels and so many songs and i finaly found it thank you
A system with the sole purpose of motivating you to work harder and strive for higher positions. But it's all a shroud to keep the wheel turning. The work to become better is what runs the process. If the wearer of the crown never lost it then the machine wouldn't run anymore. The only way to be free is to recognize the system. But without the system your freedom is all you'll have.
@@beyond-journeys-end I don't think you understood me. I was saying that this comment is very underrated and not as appreciated as most of the basic ones that are on the top.
That's how the earth works, that's how te police works, that's how the interprises works, that's how the "big country" works, that,s how the army works, that's how the planet coming get slow back to the primal today. Welcome.
Themes of Usurper Kings and their deceitful ways in pursuit of wealth and power as well as the entrapment of modern western-culture man and woman kind in the lower class and just the general unjust behavior of "justice". We need more of this thought provoking stuff. Also I think there's an allegory to David and Goliath with a twist... I want to leave a million likes on this baby.
Right?! Maybe he was trying to become a martyr. "We could be free! We could be free!" Everyone capturing his death on their phones definitely conveys that he got media attention, even if the people on their phones were framing Goliath/the officer as the "King"/hero...although (I could be reading too far into this) the shadows the people are casting on the ground at 1:18 kinda look like they're trapping the officer in a cage. Maybe that could be indicative of their intentions to expose him and knock that crown off his head? That would mean the martyr succeeded...
Definitely. History shows that without strong leaders, the world falls apart. I think this video is saying that if these leaders become too self interested and power hungry, they'll do more harm than good. History shows that good leaders need to balance smart decision making with the compassion to do what's right for their people.
Well, I see your point in the imagery, but the fact is police aren't that bad. They are just normal people that usually obey the law. Its ironic, but so are civilians. Weird, huh? Think about this. How many unjust shootings happen and how many are contorted to be unjust by the media itself? I remember one news channel showed a woman saying "Abolish the police" as serious as can be. Most of the time, people join the police to help and do some good in the world. Now, if you look at statistics on how many cops have been outed as being corrupt and compare it with how many people have been outed as criminals(both of these in the past 10 years for a large sample group) you'll see that police have lower rates of criminal activity than civilians. A martyr is someone killed for their beliefs. What was the hooded guy's belief? That the police are corrupted? So, the logical answer to that is we should break the law and assault them. But wait, there's more. Most logical people would perceive this so called "martyr" as a criminal, while the cop was acting in self defense. Who cast the first stone? The red hood guy. Why was there fire everywhere? Because people like the red hood guy cause cause with vigilantism. This is why we have a code of law that police and civilians alike have to follow. Instead of having martyrs and rebellions against the mostly uncorrupt police force, maybe we should pass laws to single out the select few police that are actually corrupt. Placing the blame on a group is wrong. Kind of like if I blame Black people for all drug problems or White people for all racism, punishing everyone will only cause resentment and more problems. Anyways, sorry if I misunderstood you or anything. I perceived that message as anti-blue.
The higher we climb, the longer the fall. Success is more than an achievement, but it is a target in our society. Once you've succeeded, you're now the thing that has to be beat. You become the standard. A king is meant to be overthrown and replaced.
Yaaaaaaaash ! So much insipiration from "Heart of Darkness" the way he destroys the hooded guy ! Same as the shadows in the game ;) Hopefully someone is old enough to remember the game; playstation 1 hehe !
I remember listening to this year's ago and now it just popped up in my recommendations I heard it on a UA-cam video back then tho I can't remember what?
+Caleb Cali moral of the story: society is fucked up and those in power will stay in power unless we do something but we never will because we're just as brainwashed as everyone else I'm pretty sure and that the right people never get the crown; the real crown is those who decide who gets it. I wouldn't say the crown is useless- the only ones we'll ever be able to achieve are though. There isn't an illuminati that we can prove- but society's definitely brainwashed and that's a fact. Positive overtones negative undertones? Everyone acts happy but inside is hurting. Now society's Negative overtones and positive undertones that only fuel the negative ones, all of a sudden everyone's hurting and inside they are the opposite and just force themselves into pain without opening their eyes. Both times we were blind. Now and then. That's the only thing that stays the same really. The illuminati is us... we, the people. The ones who put themselves into these horrible situations without thinking for a damn second if you consume yourself you're not going to get twice as big you just die. That's the illuminati if I've ever seen one.
don't forget the second part. Those with the power to put themselves in power will do so. rarely do they ever do so for anyones empowerment or to help anyone but themselves.
The real crown is the one you cannot see but you feel and know it's there... There is materialistic what we see like in the video. There is another that none other compare to. The beings or people that feel the need to wear materials for stature are the true brainwashed individuals as it's tied to greed. Remove your physical crown and develop the spiritual one, it is the richest... 🕉️ ☯️ Notice how the Illuminati still had a physical crown.....
wrong, the moral of the story is that you are never truly in power unless you have the ability to overthrow any opponent or defeat and rival in the past present or future.
I interpret it as a citation to Platone's cave, where the television represents the shadows and the dark sea the cave, but your interpretation ain't wrong.
That is forced on them to indoctrinate them into being ruled by the occult group controlling what they're forced to see. Obviously a reference to the illuminati. Pyramid with an eye is literally the symbol for the illuminati.
Clearly, everyone in this comment section have their own thoughts. But here are mine, divided: The Policeman / Hooded figure For me, it is a clear notion of the fact that people who show their disagreement become completely silenced by the brutal forces of the government. Meanwhile, others do little about it and crave nought but recognition and fame on media by sharing it. The Octopus This creatures has screens all over it and takes control of humans. I see the octopus as our society and technology. We are fed by propaganda, information and half-truths. We sit behind our televisions and devices looking st others suffering. It is entertaining and encapsulating dor some reason. The Crowns First, i wasnt sure what they meant. They had no apparent correlation. But then i realised, thats the point. Every person has their own individual goals, their own set of problems. The crown doesnt mean leadership over all, it means king of your world.

That is my favorite part about this video, everyone that broke through the ceiling looked up and went up too, the couple watching TV, wall street business men, the rebel looked up and the cop looked down.
However the cop was the only one who kept his kingship, because he was the only one to look below and stay below, he is a king, a bad king.

This is all about how even the kings are trapped. Not even they can stay for long
Because the ones we see as kings aren’t the actual kings, just the scapegoats
A system with the sole purpose of motivating you to work harder and strive for higher positions. But it's all a shroud to keep the wheel turning. The work to become better is what runs the process. If the wearer of the crown never lost it then the machine wouldn't run anymore.
The only way to be free is to recognize the system. But without the system your freedom is all you'll have.

Never seen the music video until now but I don't think I could have appreciated it 8 years ago anyways, today though this hits different.
Nathan Donnelly Yes, I noticed. David knew his fate and went to die. Weird.
Nathan Donnelly I enjoy this but society and civilization will fall apart without authority
I perceived that message as anti-blue.
probably the most meaningful song I've heard in a long time.
You know, if politicians really ate each other during debates it would make being in the tentacled grip of this video octopus more entertaining.
The higher we climb, the longer the fall. Success is more than an achievement, but it is a target in our society. Once you've succeeded, you're now the thing that has to be beat. You become the standard. A king is meant to be overthrown and replaced.

Morale of the story: The crown is useless
Notice how the Illuminati still had a physical crown.....
wrong, the moral of the story is that you are never truly in power unless you have the ability to overthrow any opponent or defeat and rival in the past present or future.

Clearly, everyone in this comment section have their own thoughts. But here are mine, divided:
The Policeman / Hooded figure
For me, it is a clear notion of the fact that people who show their disagreement become completely silenced by the brutal forces of the government. Meanwhile, others do little about it and crave nought but recognition and fame on media by sharing it.
The Octopus
This creatures has screens all over it and takes control of humans. I see the octopus as our society and technology. We are fed by propaganda, information and half-truths. We sit behind our televisions and devices looking st others suffering. It is entertaining and encapsulating dor some reason.
The Crowns
First, i wasnt sure what they meant. They had no apparent correlation. But then i realised, thats the point. Every person has their own individual goals, their own set of problems. The crown doesnt mean leadership over all, it means king of your world.
