I read this book as a young child, and it always helped me. This is the kind of princess I always tried to be. When my mother was Miss Minchin, and behaved horribly to me or my siblings, I tried to imagine I was Sara Crewe suffering in an attic, and using my imagination to free me from the pain or drudgery of my life.
Sarah is a good example of a writer, no matter how much people judge her stories badly or laugh at her because of her stories... She never stops doing the thing she loves the most. I want to be just like her , . ,
Thank you for bringing such a wonderful book to life with your narration. I read "A Little Princess" as a child and it forever changed me. As now, as an adult, when I find myself facing difficult situations, I imagine that I am a little princess and strive to face each challenge with as much kindness and dignity as I can muster.
I love this reading. This book often runs through my mind when I have difficult situations, like now. Her move to behave as a princess when she was a servant is encouraging. It reminds me to behave kindly to all people no matter their condition. This is a treasure for any girl or woman at any age.
"She always dreaming and thinking odd things and could not herself remember anytime when she had not been thinking things about grown up people and the world they belonged to. She felt as though she had lived a long long time." This book is sacred and means everything to me. Thank you! So much love! 💖🌹
Wonderful story! I love the part where Ms Minchin was finally put in her place. And how lovely of Serah to have thought of helping out hungry children. Definitely a book I will read to my kids because there are some good lessons to learn from it.

I had never even heard of this story until I saw the Veggie Tales adaptation of it. Now it is my new favorite classic next to Pride and Prejudice. I do not have the book, but maybe I'll buy it myself one day and actually read it.
This book was a childhood favorite of mine. I love reading it as an adult and reliving the beautiful memories I have of staying up too late and reading every book in the library - this being one of the first. I love this channel, so well-read! Please keep it up! I'm so happy to have found your channel.
The static thumbnail is painting "Mignon" (cute/dainty) by artist Alexej Harlamoff Mignon www.1st-art-gallery.com/Alexei-Alexeivich-Harlamoff/Mignon.html Someone likely already commented on the painting name and artist, but since I don't see it I decided to be extra. Even more extra, last listed auction was in 2003 valued at ~$80-110k USD & remained unsold.
I'm 14 but When I was seven I listened to an abridged version, a year later I re-listen to the full and noted a difference really quickly. Few days ago I was just in the mood to hear it Edit : maybe a bit older than seven
This story is so beautiful! If i ever have a kid, I will definitely gift my child this book. Thank your for sharing the audiobook, i was hearing while reading. Loved the experience :)
nobody Uknow Probably had a governess or tutors. Also would be pointless to pay for room and board at a school that is literally right next door to your home.
Frances Hodgson Burnett never wrote a sequel. I'd love to write a sequel. I did read in a comment section about a sequel about the girls at the school that doesn't feature Sara much , but my sequel would still focus on Sara and Becky still.
Just a thought. Did the girls go home in the Summer? Im guessing, if they did, Sarah was there all year round. Even before her Father died because wouldn't had anywhere else to go.
I think it depended on the families, I think some of the girls went home for summer, but other girls especially ones that had parents that traveled or were too far away to get them like Sara’s father (before he died) stayed at school.
Late 1800s/early 1900s teens: 4:37:20 "ah...I've sooo wanted to read that!" (likely for years) Today: OMG yasss I've sooo wanted to watch that" (likely for a few minutes) Completely random. And I got audio hypnosis and fell asleep and woke up to this part. 🌙 💤
Not all teens are like that🙄 Im 16 and i read and write more then anything else. 😅I hate when people say shit like this. We are the future u should watch it so we don't put you in a home Carol 😔
Min Yoongis girl You must be replying to a comment that was taken down. I’m glad you love to read and write. Teens are wonderful with so much potential.
Well, a Mary Sue is a character who is so unnecessarily perfectionized and is so used to becoming the center of everything with little or no tribulations at all, to the point of irritating the reader. But this is not the case here. The main concept of the book is to convey the message of how bravery and optimism can give people the strength to stand through any trials and tribulations. Moreover, it also convinces the children to be kind and humble to everyone regardless of the circumstances they are in. So therefore it's a very simple heartwarming MORAL STORY containing life lessons ( excluding any types of character complications ) for children to read.
If you can ignore the racism, you will find it's a beautiful story. I got angry too when I was listening to another book he authored ” The Secret Garden”. But if you can let go his comments on Indians, you will find the story very heart touching.
With audiobooks you can imagine the characters and locations. I don’t need to rely on someone else’s vision. Television, computers and smartphones have taken away the wonder of our imaginations.

I can relate. This book is a safe place to me. Bittersweet twist is the people that "raised" us, can show you more how not to be, than how to be. 👸💖🌹
Same, except for me "miss minchin" were the kids at school who always made fun of me and "becky" and "ermengarde" were the characters in my books
Was your mother miss minchin??

Frances Hodgson Burnett wrote three very good children's books; this one, Little Lord Fauntleroy and The Secret Garden.
Love this book

Thank you
Thank you so much I’m also reading while hearing. This is one of my favourite books
I don't like the way Burnett describes these little girls but I have the biggest of soft spots for this book and The Secret Garden
Adore it 💕♥️✨💗💖🎀❤️😍😊

I enjoyed this so much, thank you for this wonderful gift.
The movie literally made me cry at the end
It's not a movie
Did anybody ever wonder why the Carmichaels had not sent their own daughters to Minchin's school? They lived so close by.

Curious. Who is the child featured in the picure? I know she you symbolizes Sara Crewe, but who photo did you use? Was it off a book cover?
I LOVE this picture...
The little girl looks so much like two of my granddaughters.
