@Deeq Omar It's really not. It may have been the ground where Arsene was most successful, but it is about the entire history of the club. An old, cramped stadium that is a figure of the old and stubborn english club, not willing to change or adapt. The Emirates is what Wenger represents. A modern, yet controversial change. It's a stadium that was "made" by him, it's what he sacrificed for the name of Arsenal's future. If Henry or Bergkamp deserve a statue, then Wenger deserves the whole stadium.
@Deeq Omar Well of course we left our soul at Highbury, it was the club's ground for nearly a century. There can be no soul for a new stadium, built mainly for commercial reasons. My point stands. The Emirates is Wenger's stadium, not only did he play a crucial role in designing a great, modern stadium, but the ground portrays his philosophy of sacrificing momentary profit to build on for the future. You can't call Highbury "Arsene Wenger stadium", but the Emirates might as well get renamed to that.
@@ryuuseiboi950 IDK man, I think your comments are a bit shortsighted. We were very competitive during the move to the Emirates, but there were two, no, three major factors that relegated us to "has been's": the purchase of Chelsea by Roman Ambramovic and his influx of hundred of millions of pounds/dollars into the club; the sudden and rapid change of TV money they clubs got in the Premier League that caused their major revenue source not to be from gate receipts, but from national and international TV rights; and the later purchase of Manchester City to basically the state of Qatar. Before Chelsea was purchesed by Ambramovic, we were in the marker for John Terry, Frank Lampard, and I'm not too sure, but I think also Robben. If we had any or all three of those players, we would have been the dominant team in Europe and the UK. But with Chelsea being able to blow us out of the water on any financial dealing we might have, we weren't unable to compete with a basically unlimited money supply. We were also in the market for some players form France, Lyon; I think Essien, Drogba and Maluda, but each and every time Chelsea was able to offer a much bigger financial payment for their players. (This was probably the major reason for our youth development signings, and even then, such as in the case of CR7 in Sporting, bigger clubs were able to offer better deals and leverage the risk of nurturig them for extended periods of time) **We were also unlucky, as in the case of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who was slated to sign, but who's ego blocked the move. And not to mention that every season we would have major injury problems.
