It may not be the most eventful day, but we wanted to make sure and document how to travel around the UAE and what the easiest (and cheapest) options are! Today, we challenged ourselves to figure out how to travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi by bus, and not just any tourist bus, but PUBLIC TRANSIT using our NOL (Metro) card! There were little forums online on how to do this, so we thought it might be helpful for anyone who wants to travel from Dubai to Abu Dhabi to see exactly how to do it!
Once we arrived in Abu Dhabi, step two to the journey was to figure out public transit to our hotel. But, there really isn't any good public transit in Abu Dhabi, so taxi it is! We realized at 5:15pm that we hadn't eaten yet, so we pretty much ran to the closest (and cheapest) place to eat near the hotel. Cheap might be a relative word because it really wasn't cheap, but then again, not much in Abu Dhabi is!
We are SO excited to start our Abu Dhabi videos. We have 2 more coming out and we had no idea how much we would LOVE this city. Abu Dhabi is truly remarkable and we are excited to bring you with us!

Loved how informative this video was but it’s also nice to see the work you do to get from place to place. You must spend a lot of time googling how to get around and what to see, eat, and do in all these places. I know I get overwhelmed googling for a vacation, can’t imagine doing it all the time. Do you have any favorite sites you regularly use?
Thank you!! and YES! it takes a lot of googling and a lot of time. Nick spends many hours sifting thru blog posts to find the right information! He looks often on websites like Culture Trip for food and day-to-day planning, and then usually goes deep into the archives of blog posts to find things like this (traveling from Dubai to Abu Dhabi). We actually decided to make this video mostly because he couldn't find one great resource on this and are hoping it helps anyone who is interested in doing this journey! Thanks, Tammy!!!

When did you go? I don't understand very well so which card should I buy in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi, could I paid it with credit card?🤔
We were in UAE a little over a year ago. You might be able to pay with credit card now, but when we were there you had to pay with the card that you use also use for the metro.
Do they accept dollars during top up of your NOL card or Dirhams?

You have to go to a metro station to get a NOL card. It is very easy. Just go up to a kiosk and purchase a NOL card and top it up with how much ever you expect to use!

Always warm! It will be nicer for sure in December! Just don't go in the summer because it gets up to 120F!!

We didn't think it was cold at all! New year's Eve was a little colder than normal but not what we are used to in NYC!

I don't remember the exact price but I am pretty sure we said it in the video! It was definitely cheaper than any other option. Just make sure to top up the NOL card BEFORE you get to the bus station because they don't have an area to top up there. Has to be done in a metro station.
Do need cash in abu dabhi or can you survive with credit card?
You should be able to get away with a credit card but always good to have some cash!

We stayed at the Ramada which was the cheapest option I found..

The hotel in Abu Dhabi we stayed is Called The Ramada. It was the cheapest option I found... and still wasn't cheap!

I agree, Germany is pretty expensive, but at least there are places to find cheap things. Definitely not the case in UAE!
