You're a genius. I spent nearly 50 hours of gameplay not knowing what the heck was blocking my system from functioning (I think I didn't turn on service rounds, but will figure out the details tomorrow).
Thank you, that is most helpful. 👍 It's shameful that the in-game tutorial is so inadequate when introducing baggage handling. 😠 One thing you don't describe, and which is shown in the tutorial images and in your video, is how to get the conveyor belts to run on a different floor. Though, as ugly as it looks, belts across the floor seem to work fine and don't interfere with walkable areas!
thanks for the tutorial. i have a problem where it's telling me that a service vehicle can't reach the site, but the vehicle depot is connected to the same service road the baggage bay is. any idea why it's doing that?
Usually that would be due to the service road not being fully connected. Double check to make sure that you built all the roads within the secure area using service roads and not regular roads. Also I found that keeping the road networks as simple as possible was always best for avoiding any issues with vehicle pathing.
I tried to setup a baggage system and i got ramp agents at the baggage bay and i have a baggage truck and baggage loader truck but the baggage gets stuck on the baggage loader truck
American style baggage claim, where the area is outside near the curb, in an unsecured area, are INSANE. In Europe, they are always in a secured zone, outside of the secure zone, but non accessible from the public space. Otherwise luggage might be constantly stolen.
Just to add a few details: some airports try confirming the bag you are taking from the luggage claim matches the baggage receipt. A set of airports also end up just shunting domestic claims next to international, or outright just merges domestic flight baggage with an international baggage claim area to retain security.
Nice video. The Tilt program I just don’t understand. Or how to apply it correctly. I’m bad at logistics haha and this is crucial for the baggage and basically all the game haha. I felt this video was quick! Could you share some of your pointers or comments for a good baggage logistics?
The most common time that I would use the tilt tray is for baggage claim areas. You can use them to direct bags to the proper carousel. When using them like this, just build them and keep them set to "To Destination" and that's basically it. Episode 22 of my Let's Play was one where I spent quite a bit of time setting up baggage handling for my medium aircraft terminal. You can see me connect the baggage claim areas using tilt trays here: ua-cam.com/video/vMM61dwuaUY/v-deo.html Hope this helps.
Sorry to hear that you're having troubles, make sure that you have service roads and not public roads connecting your baggage bay to the stands. Also make sure that you have ramp agents working on both sides of the baggage bay.
Check the pedestrian pathing overlay (I think it's called "Walkable Areas overlay"). This will show you where they can walk so you'll want to make sure that the areas you expect them to go to are connected by a green route. In exterior areas you'll need to use sidewalks. If it's from a terminal to a stand, you'll need to make sure that you have doors for them to get outside. Let me know if that helps!
@@Jordid I eventually figured it out but then ran into the issue that once my airport got to a certain largeness everything would really start slowing down.
this man needs more subs
the tutorial is:
1, fast
2, easy to digest
3, straightforwards
instead of 87, you should have at least 1k
Aww thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it.
Thanks man, I was about to pull out all of my hair if I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.
Just found this vid. Even though it is 2 years old it is still the best basic baggage handling tutorial I have found. Thank you
Haha thanks for that! Glad you found it helpful.
Well thought out and presented. Nice to finally see someone who plans out their tutorial video before hitting the record button. Thanks.

oof, I've never seen that issue before. The ramp agents put the bags on the loader and they just sit there?

@@Jordid thank you man! Will watch it!! I’m still kind of new to the game but I’m loving it so far. Thank you.
It didn't work, the baggage trucks is stuck in the baggage bay

Why cant my ramp agent realize where to go?

One step at a time, my friend! Glad you liked the tutorial.
