    Thank you for giving a platform to the independents who have been judged as "not worth the time" by the rest of the media. Every candidate deserves to be heard.

    Well, I now know what it looks like when an average Joe puts his hat in the ring. I think we should all have the opportunity to do this. Unfortunately, all the "sorta thing" & "stuff like that" & ideas for Brisbane that are clearly just one man's view & not necessarily representative of what the people of Brisbane want let him down. He's obviously not a good speaker but we all have to start somewhere. Unfortunately as well, as someone else pointed out, presentation is very important when it comes to selling yourself as a mayor, & he presented as a person who got ready at the last minute, just barely. He said he decided to run at the last minute & just chose the easiest option on the website which happened to be mayor, & neither of these things bode well for the effort, drive & personal responsibility it takes to be an elected member. He's definitely not a pollie, & while that has its merits, in this case he would be in so far over his head if by some miracle he was voted in. He needs a team behind him & to polish up every aspect of himself & get more certain about what he wants to achieve. And I would also say he needs to be out there talking to the people of Brisbane & representing them. All his talk from his own personal experience, & the mayor needs a lot more than that.
    I'm only 30 mins but id like to know what his work experience has been up to now. He doesn't know how things actually work in government & likely won't effectively navigate it. And he doesn't seem to have concrete answers about how to achieve his goals.
    I'm trying to give him constructive criticism because it looks like he's reading the comments. He can improve for his next run if he wants to.

      Thanks. I just wish they'd nominated earlier, so I could have done the whole series with the intention of interviewing all six, rather than it feeling like something tacked on to the original three. It's a lesson to me to check with the electoral commission before I start making videos! But I definitely think it's important to give all candidates the same opportunities to share their ideas, especially for voters that want to number every box. I for one want to at least have a rough idea how each candidate differs so I can vote with some confidence that my vote reflects my own values and what I hope for in my city's leadership.

    Aeromovel seems like a bit of a gadgetbahn. If it could be built more cost effectively than light rail for a given moderate patronage corridor then it could be a good solution. Definitely not a high capacity line able to keep up with heavy rail though.
    Bruce Tanti, if you're watching, I think you would do well as a councillor or mayor for a smaller town/city. You're very well meaning but Brisbane is too big for a small campaign to stand a chance.

    I think the Aeromovel (Automated People mover) would be good to run along the NWTC from Carseldine station to Enoggera. It could easily connect the northwestern suburbs to the train stations. Singapore has a similar system called the LRT. This could really help with circular mass transit routes covering underserved suburbs which is currently not present in Brisbane and should also be considered by the Moreton bay council to link up the new Caboolture West Development to the Caboolture Station.

    • @BrisbaneChannel
      @BrisbaneChannel  3 місяці тому +2

      I hadn't heard of the Aeromovel, but it definitely looks like an interesting option. Not sure how it would compare financially to other alternatives, but it's definitely a fresh idea for one of Brisbane's constant problems, worth looking at analytically.

    • @uzziya6392
      @uzziya6392 3 місяці тому

      Why? It's just a slower, lower capacity, more expensive, more difficult to maintain and overall worse train. There's nothing you could do with an aeromovel or any other automated people mover that you couldn't go cheaper, faster or overall better with a bus. People movers have less capacity than a bus, are more expensive than a bus, are more difficult to maintain/replace than a bus, are slower than a bus, lack the flexibility of a bus, need their own depot and run along what are essentially a more expensive version of a guided busway.
      There's a concept in transit/urban planning called a gadgetbahn. It's a transit system that's worse than all other comparable modes but has a gimmick that exists for no reason in particular. Automated people movers are a gedgetbahn. They serve no purpose other than to be different.

      @@uzziya6392 Hi Uzzyiya392 from Bruce Tanti what i heard and seen on the internet from places where it has been established it can go upto 50Km per hour that faster than a tram and comparable to a suburban train on the brisbane network up and till zone 2 or zone 3. My idea was to try and connect the arms of railway lines to each other using this system and connect it to shopping centres along the way.

It could be combine with the AeroMovel to go further to westlake and mount ommaney and possible further thereby reliving the strain on the westerns freeway. And if Ipswich city council came on board to even extend into their council which would releave further strain on the warrego highway/oxley motorway.

    Hi from Bruce Tanti You know the tragic thing about this election if independent or mayor/councillor of political party if they get over 4% of the vote they get most of the money back. For me at this moment i have spent much at all (a real shoestring budget so to speak). But from what i have seen of the big parties labor, greens, LNP they have spent big so if they get over 4% even if they dont win they get most of their money back which will be probably in $10000 to $900000 (maybe even more ) each dependent on the size of the LGA (Local Government Area) and the whether they are in a party or not and whether they are running for Mayor or Councilor so this will be charged to the taxpayer me and you. I hope they get under 4% in todays elections. So that the tax payer wont be paying for their massive expenditure. It would be nice to see them eat their humble pie of expenditure outlays that they have made.

      Yes their are people who will vote for someone that God directed that person they may of the same faith or affiliated faith. Or they might just like that person policies or the person themself and vote for that or them. If the policies are: sound, feasible, viable and might just work isn't that the main thing that people look at that it just might or will help their community when they go to election to vote.

      He can't speak, he has dirty poor presentation and anyone who believes in something without evidence is clearly mentally ill. Absolutely not leadership material. There is nothing online that clearly states this persons policies. And he's clearly a commi who will be worse than Schrinner who has imposed taxes on private homeowners who quite legally short term let their properties of rooms in their home to earn income. This guy advocates for using rate payer funded parks to set up tent cities and have rate payers provide the tents! This is NOT a siolution and in fact it is advocating for trampling hte rights of the people who have paid for these facilities, that are now cesspits for disease, drugged and dangerous people..... unbelievable. This guy has no idea. He's a bleeding heart that will use YOUR after tax money to prop up the have nots, prevent you using the facilities you've paid for, as he uses them for homeless bums and make your community even unsafer as a result.

      Agreed, we’re all tired of pollies that look like they are polished to an inch of their lives that only speak in three word slogans and well prepared news bites. But… this is too far the other way. Also Bruce needs to get some more of the detail right here. If you’re going to mention the commonwealth games get the year right. Going to quote a former Lord Mayor get their name right. Know that water and sewage across Brisbane is under Urban Utilities (he should be getting quarterly bills like the rest of us).
      And as others noted the god thing is just weird. Have your beliefs, but the moment anyone other than a Blues Brother tells me they’re on a mission from god, I’ll dismiss them as a bit unhinged.
