Format is better for me. I tried a few different web builders, and prefer Format. First , Format designs are beautiful- simple, clean, eye catching, professional. Easy to navigate their interface and experiment with themes and templates. And they work well- very smooth functioning. I tried a few other web page builders, and in my experience they were more "glitchy". Second, I am very very impressed with how the people at Format really care and are so good in terms of customer service. Third, unlike other web builders- Format is run by and for artists. I feel like its not only a web builder, but without getting too "warm and fuzzy", they really seem like they are building a community or artists. Not only by their web design and customer service, but by creating an online magazine for artists. I feel like I'm more part of a community than just a number.
Hey Philipp! Great tutorial. I have one question though and wonder if you could point me in the right direction. I'm using the Visual Portfolio plugin and I want, since I'm making a filterable portfolio, to customize the filter buttons - color when active, hover and size, padding etc. The developers made it a headache to figure out how though. Could you make a tutorial perhaps? If anyone else sees this that can help a newbie please reply!

If you're still interested, you can add portfolio items and use them instead of images. This lets you direct to another page when you click on them

Glad I could help! I'm not sure I fully understand what you mean - do you want to show a certain picture when clicking a link? If you want you can also drop the link to your website and I'll check it out, to see what the problem is :-)

Hey, this is actually pretty straight forward with Wordpress. In case i understand your case Right you simply need to create a second page in the page section in the dashboard and on this site use a shop plugin like woocommerce to create your shop 😊 good luck, hope this helps

I think this plugin is mainly designed for the use of images. Also multiple videos playing on autoloop on your portfolio page makes your page load very slowly which is not recommended!

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much! One thing.. when you add a page (like at 2:55) the look of this is different than when I do it. You have the ADD NEW PAGE box at the top and the VISUAL/TEXT option. my page just has an ADD TITLE field and a block with no visual options. I am on version WordPress 5.1.1... is this just a version issue? Or is this something I can set? I like the layout f yours better, its more intuitive. Thanks!

Jimi Albert hey, yes this is a Version issue - since the release of WordPress 5.0 the Editor Looks like this by default. You can get the Classic Editor Plugin and reset it to the old Editor like in the video by activating the classic editor in your preferences. @@Wingfoiler I went with Squarespace. Not free, but it works as it should. Spent hours trying to find a Wordpress solution that I liked, but I ended up going the proprietary way.

me neither, maybe it requires a PRO version. If so, it is better to mention this in the video otherwise I did spend time to figure it out.
I have the same problem, It would be nice if the person who made the video would address the issue. I may just go with Squarespace and Wells theme. I read the page of the developer, no mention that PRO version is needed,.
@@stefpix Under visual portfolio go to the saved layouts subcategory and make a new list. The layout of the plugin has changed slightly but all the functionality remains as it was. No need for pro
Magic Man thank you. I went with square space. It was too frustrating, I wrote to the developer and did not get a reply. Too many plugins required the pro version. I like open source, but the lack of documentation is frustrating
Sorry for any inconvenience, the plugin has been updated several times since the making of the video and thus has changed a little. As far as I know there's no need for a pro version. Somebody wrote in the comments though that you need to click "Saved layouts" and then, at the top of the page, on the left side there is a button "Add new". Hope this helps anyone reading this!

Philipp Kosicki if I may ask a quick question. The gifs do work with the plug in, how do I make the gifs show up 2 at a time when viewing my site on a cellphone? I have it 4 across on the website but one my cell they appear one at a time.

Unfortunately the hosting plans WordPress is offering are terrible. I would recommend switching to a different hosting provider and installing WordPress there, so it does not have any limitations as it has when hosting with WordPress directly

fantastic.but have a small issue, once clicked on picture i cannot go back to main page.also security certificate keep saying not secure :(
This seems like a permalink issue. Try navigating to your link settings in the backend and resave the link structure. Also make sure that there is a “https” in front of the links. If that does not help and you are sure that the ssl certificate is set up correctly try to update your database with the “better search replace” plugin. Check for entries of the database that still have a non https URL and replace those. Also make sure to backup the site before messing with the database!!

Hey, I'm not sure about the exact process on how to use Videos in the Visual Portfolio but there is a way to manually add Video Items I think - here is a link to the developers explanation how to do it:
