I see we’ve still learned nothing about making video game movies.
I can see no one in the filming or production has played or heard of Borderlands
I really want this movie to be good because I love Borderlands but it looks like it's gonna be a disaster..
Explosions check, Stupid yet funny claptrap check, bugs and lots of bandits? Check. A siren? Check, Tina’s explosive personality check, Roland and Lilith father/mother figure over her? Check. What’s missing 😅
@@phatdog You disgust me. Hollywood keeps shoveling slop out by metric tons and people of your ilk, including you, lap it up like it's not backwash. Call me superficial or whatever buzzword you conjure up. I think that people aren't gate guarding hard enough on things that mattered to them anymore. So we keep getting piles of refuse thrown out without anyone stopping it from cluttering the box office before it gets shipped out.
This is just a cash grab banking off of peoples love for Borderlands. And it's disgusting because it doesn't even try to be lore accurate.
@@phatdogThe movie looks promising but I have a bad feeling it's gonna flop hard
@@chillbizz74 yeah. I'll be watching it solely for comedy because I doubt the story will be very good
Who was in charge of casting
Jack black is so far the only good casting choice
He is definitely great but sadly ClapTrap is literally the only character they could have used the literal voice actor for yet still chose not too? Jack Black should have been Marcus
@@phatdog true they could of but it’s Hollywood so in terms of Hollywood actors he is best fit. Specially compared to the rest of the cast that was chosen for their roles. Just like most fans just wish it was better choices
Jack black fits so well for borderlands but claptrap might not be the right place
As a long-time fan of the Borderlands series, I'm stoked. My initial reaction is that they should have gotten someone with a deeper voice and more imposing countenance than Kevin Hart to play Roland.
This looks like an extended SNL skit than a movie based on a video game if Paul WS Anderson directed this years ago he would have cast his wife Milla Jovovich as Lilith.
My lame comment is better than your lame comment.
it looks like a spin-off of Guardians of the Galaxy
Is that AI VOICE WHEN KEVIN HEART SAYS PISSWASH!
Wasn't tina like... 8 during the first borderlands... why's she in this?and kevin hart as Roland? C'mon he's supposed to be a serious soldoer type, I mean maybe in BL1 he had some witty lines but he was never goofy. I'm mixed about this idk
its woke to make the men suck ..also put all women characters in the lead, scapred some major male game characters, gender swaped knoxx, Invented a New female extra Main character ....
@@timaronschrader I haven't seen general Knoxx, but empowerment of women has never been an issue in the borderlands. Angel, Tannis, Commandant Steele, Lilith, Helena Pearce, Moxxi etc. Are all strong and very capable characters. But making up a whole new character? Unless you refer to Krieg or Tina maybe but still. I just find it unordinary of them because in continuity they're either younger or aged up for this movie. It just messes with how like things happen in universe.
It was no Problem ...thats the case ...why fix it for the movie, because there was no need for addional empowerment.
As someone who's been enamored by the series since 2, I've got mixed reactions.
On one hand, I'm still pretty iffy on the casting. I'm sure Cate Blanchett overall will do good as Lilith, and Kevin Hart's performance is more toned down than I thought and it's glad to see his take on Roland in the trailer isn't just "typical jokey Kevin Hart role but he's got a comically large gun", but I still don't know how that'll translate to the rest of the movie. I wish Jamie Lee Curtis had more of a role so I could gauge her performance a bit more, but from what little I saw, she didn't seem as chaotic as game Tannis, which is a shame. Furthermore, I really don't know how well the plot will go with Atlas *and* Hyperion's involvement. Yeah, Commandant Steel was kind of a blank slate in terms of character and Handsome Jack is anything but and then some, but I am concerned that straying away from the source material too much will jeopardize and future plans they may have with Jack, and I want his big screen debut to be perfect. Also, I need justice for my boys Brick and Mordecai.
On the other hand, I really like some of the setpieces and CGI. Claptrap and the vehicles look absolutely stellar, and I did enjoy the actor for Tiny Tina and her performance. Also, Marcus looks near spot on and I really like the nod to the Marcus Munitions machines and how they're using the item stat sheet from Borderlands 3. Stuff like the "Dook Hut" sign was honestly really cool to see in the trailer, and I hope that more nods to the games exist, and more importantly serve a bigger role in the movie than just existing for fanboys like me to gawk at in theater.
Overall, I *really* want this to be a great movie simply due to my love for the Borderlands franchise, and quite frankly I just hope that future trailers help paint a better picture of the movie's plot and faithfullness to the games, at least as faithful to the games that the movie can be sans Brick and Mordecai.
Its going to be just like Cowboy Bebop, where actors care and/or understand, others do not.
Awesome. Ive been waiting for at least a decade for this. Back then leto waa gonna play zero. So its radically different from what it was when it was announced.
Eli Roth.
should’ve had the original clap trap voice actor and a recast. it looks ok but awful casting except for tina, tina seems alright
AVI ARAD ruined everything again
If they go absolutely balls to walls, no fucks given with this movie, it has a chance to be slightly above mediocre. If not, it'll be just more garbage slop
This looks like garbage.
why gender swap? Isnt the movie full of female leads?
Who was gender swapped?
?
Knoxx
@timschrader1953 Oh, they did gender swap. I didn't notice.
When they first mentioned this i had high expectations then i saw the casting and my expectations were lowered, now ive seen the trailer and my expectations have caught Marcus's bus and left.
