As a science teacher, I have made a case study of this event. I chose this disaster because I wanted my students to know we have made mistakes in the past, and this one was not that long ago. But if we don't learn from this and forget about it, we are doomed to repeat it and maybe even worse, which we already have in other places around the world (Gulf of Mexico). Just trying to do my part for a better tomorrow.
That was such an eloquent reply!
Thank you kindly for posting it!
I wish I had you for a teacher before I graduated.
Keep up the stellar work!
Love & Light from Miami Shores🦚✌🏼
Stay safe mate🌎🙏🏼
I’m a science teacher too. We are exploring this disaster and its effects on the ecosystem.
and Exxon fought this all the way to the US Supreme Court. The 5 Billion was reduced to 5 MIllion, and 6,000 plaintiffs had died by the time it was settled 20 yrs later. No justice. And yes, the pain stayed with the victims, not with Exxon.
I don't understand how we as a society let this happen. We are lied by the media and these big oil companies are the ones getting us in wars and nations are getting sick and tired of us making up lies and covering these suits and tie criminals.
@@OPTIONALWATCH not to blanket big oil companies but greedy CEOs and management. As well as Exxon in itself, everyone pays from the crimes of the top down. Exxon should definitely pay out for killing the Valdez marine economy though, worst PR
@@mattcox31 And to think Rex Tillerson would go on to take a job in W-DC as Secretary of State under Trump (briefly)
500 million
Yes...March 24, 2019. Indeed, 30 years ago. “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it”. -George Santayana. Thank you for sharing this video.
Well said.
HUMANS WILL BE THE DEATH OF THIS PLANET and THOUSANDS OF YEARS FROM NOW THE HUMAN PLAGUE WILL SPREAD TO OTHER PLANETS AS WELL AS OTHER SOLAR SYSTEMS and EVENTUALLY THEY TOO WILL BE DESTROYED!???????????
Dawn dish soap cleaned all of this
What a lie!! This isn't 30 years later it's 5 years later it says so right in the show. This misinformation is disgusting.
It’s in remembrance 30 years later. They put this interview up for the anniversary. That’s not hard to understand…
Exactly why I have not put a drop of Exxon fuel in any vehicle I have owned in the last 40 years...and never will...
How about bp fuel
The petroleum used by refiners can come from several oil producers. You likely unknowingly filled up with Exxon.
Joseph Hazelwood.....It’s not my fault....(tanker on the rocks)....I asked for “TANQUERAY” on the rocks....
"However, Exxon officials continue to insist that oil from the spell is not responsible for long term damage to marine life..." aka "The core is not open, this man is delusional, take him to the infirmary."
Love 60 Minutes , the Exxon Valdez spill was so horrific to watch
Appreciate y'all doing this investigation, it's too easy to let issues like this be swept under the rug.
But, they are lying.
@@texasalpha2233 the statistics of damages from oil spills are right there,if you want to deny hard facts then you are delusional and an idiot
Thanks for the video really important people know about this even in 2019
Failed to give him 3.1 shots of vodka before the reenactment
"3 drinks, maybe a sip of a 4th... Vodka, on the rocks..." WOWWWWWWWWWW this dude is wasted now...
Hazlewood is a liar and should continue to be punished for what he's done, forever!!
Janet Harned .....so true. I saw a relatively recent interview of this clown, in the office where he works (thankfully no longer a captain) he was practically flaunting “memorabilia” regarding himself associated with the horrendous event. Almost like a sick “badge of honor”.
Does anyone know where I can find that letter they were talking about? I want to read that for myself.
I honestly had no idea that Exxon hadn’t paid and I want to know why they think they did not have to.
I worked in Cordova Alaska in 2000 and the people there all said the Exxon Valdez killed their fishing industry for a while!
Maybe instead of having giant ships navigate dangerous waters in our pristine coastlines we should just build a pipline or something instead?
Exxon lies and continues to cover up this tragic disaster! So horrible for these helpless animals especially!!
So does every Big Business, look at Chernobyl another disaster that never should've happened
My grandpa helped make that ship.
Hooray for Hazelwood, look what he’s done....Hooray for Hazelwood, now Alaska’s having some “fun”....
Hooray for Hazelwood, there no tears in his eyes, Hooray for Hazelwood, now it’s Alaska’s time to cry.....
Well said in the end, the people and their ecosystem suffered meanwhile exxon was untouched, truly unjust.
THREE vodka’s and “possibly a SIP” of a fourth but I was fine…WHAT? He didn’t even bother to stay until the ship was past the reef!!! Wow 😯
The video presenter says:
The title says:.30 years later...?
the republished this in rememberance
He’s still not done with his public service order like 6 years later?
Damn! I thought Exxon paid. F--k'em.
Just an observation but those salmon in the vials are at different stages of development. The bulge is the remains of their egg, that stage is called alevin.
😔
And then you got physically sick? From all the alcohol?
🍎™ There was an oil spill from a grounded tanker at Moonstone Beach Rhode Island .
. The sand under the ocean is hard and dead .
any justice for cordova until now ?
When will world governments wake up and abolish offshore drilling. This is sickening to see 30 years later.
The solution is more pipelines. Fewer accidents, lower costs.
How does Exxon figure that the mess they made....it's all good now?....how about doing the right thing and own it mr. Exxon.....yall should have been a dominant presence in your area of responsibility....prince William sound...over the years following your captains brilliant seamanship.....forever. .....own your mistakes and fix them....save your sorries
Y’all need some ac1 degreaser from Cajun clean
We don’t care enough about this earth to prevent things like this.
It’s all about the money!.
This is one of these things where people is powerless. There is no way to get hundreds of thousends of liters of oil out of the sea fast and if you are not fast you wont get it out.
What a liar.
since when did oil become "toxic"?
Hi China NomNom
Stop fishing humans do not have to eat fish....and stop the fossil fuels, oil is a carcinogen
yeah sure lets not eat :)
liers repent
Scientists lying.
