tbf soma didn t get his father to teach him that much and was shown to be less talented, he had to work harder for the skills he got by the end. Which is kind of nice.
@@deadline6149 True. Soma is not at all a prodigy, like Akira, Erina, Eishi, and Joichiro are. And Joichiro only taught him just the essentials to run a diner. (not to mention Soma has lost every single cooking battle with his dad, which is a substantial amount)
But that's exactly why Soma has more potential than Akira, Erina, Eishi, and Joichiro are. Since he already tasted failure and is nothing special... He will never be afraid of losing or lose under pressure. He will also have a wide variety of path he could take, as a chef or other professions.
Prodigy like Akira, Erina, Eishi, and Joichiro doesn't have that, All of them are forced on a single path that they themselves didn't chose. People saw their talent and expect greater things... And under those conditions? The burden insurmountable, eating away at the back of their mind all the time... until one day... SOMETHING SNAPS.
"Success is a poor teacher", and all of them will know that in the end.
This is what exactly happened to Joichiro, his was far worse though... So he left. But in the end, he found Soma's mom and married her. During his time with her, He understood that failing is nothing more but a part of life. (which all the other prodigy I mentioned, learned through Soma at one point... Which saved them from the final breaking point)
That's why he taught Soma the taste of failure early on, so that he will never take the impossible thorny path he and all prodigies walked on.

I've literally been binge watching Food wars for the last 2 days ;_;. It was a pure whim, that I kept hearing about this so called should be hentai show that I fell in love with it ;u;. Seeing Erina realization and surprise literally gave me a boost of in yo face lol.

It's kind of rich how Azami says he wants revenge on the culinary world that ruined Joichiro, yet he's acting A LOT like the ones who caused Joichiro to hit burnout in the first place (namely, he's singing praises of Joichiro's natural talents while failing to take into account all the hard work he put into his dishes).
It's like Joe was swallower by the storm ,the storm being those shallow expectations of the other people towards him , the expectations to create new dishes one after other, for once when Joe used to have fun cooking the dishes ,then he was sort of forced to do so!.
And through azami, who thought if one was to centralize cooking and making all chefs being able to cook top quality dishes and not create new dishes / not explore their creativity, he can prevent them from, going to a state where saiba went to!
I forgot the Nana part but she also somewhat made him such a bad guy!
@@sulabhghimire250 The problems with his plan are, first, not everyone can or wants to cook the same way; second, after some time their abilities will stale; and three, it sounds awfully boring to just force everyone to conform to the "norm" and do the same. Bottom line, he wasn't solving anything, he just changed the issue to the opposite end of the spectrum.
As for Mana, I'm pretty sure he never tried to advance his own cooking, because he's convinced that it's "perfect" as it is. Had Joichiro been in the same situation, he'd have taken up the challenge to create new dishes his wife could enjoy. If you want to change the world, you need to change yourself first, something Azami was either unable or unwilling to do.

Can any one answer this question. I just started reading the manga of food wars out of boredom and this scene should had happen after somas match with ezan but in the anime it was after korikibas match. That this scene happen.
Why did they change those scene in arrangement in the anime??
When a manga is adapted to anime, sometimes events are changed to suit better the pacing.
Saiba was way cooler looking when he was young than Soma. Ahahah
