50 years ago, February, 1973, I bought FLASH for $2.50 at a pharmacy. It was in a cut-out bin. For me, the bargain of the decade! Fabulous! I met Pete twice at YES conventions in the 1990's. Thanks Pete! Thanks FLASH!
Peter belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the rest of Yes... period. He helped start the band, he named the band, and his stage presence initially got them on the map.
Such a sad story of his life. I remember, Henry Potts site clicked on Peter . .he had died. Had no idea. No family. Fans were donating the money so he could be buried, at the same time Paul McCartney was worth 1 billion. And how he was found, working with Billy Sherwood, and failed to show up at the studio, so they went to his home. If not, how long before he was found. Damn....I see myself passing like this. Sad indeed.
To this day, the debut album 'YES' is still one of my all-time favorites. Peter Banks guitar work & strong harmonies are a big part of my luv for the music and he laid the foundation for Howe & Rabin to emulate.
Peter was one of the most influential guitarists in prog/classic rock. It's great to know that there's a documentary about him in the making. Hope they can do it the way that they want it.
Hope this is uploaded on UA-cam so the largest audience possible can hear what a genius Peter Banks was.. Two Sides of Peter Banks and the work with Empire is so amazing.. I'm hoping there's more unreleased stuff from the 70s period (I'm an audiophile and can't tolerate engineer/production/composition after)
The fact that the original members did not give Peter Banks his rightfully EARNED accolades regarding the "Yes" HOF induction, and won't even fund anything to do with his legacy, is to show just how awful (as human beings) those other members of Yes truly are.
Pete Banks has been my icon since 1969 his playing with his jazz influence and rock, the use of the Fender swell pedal and the octave lead lines was so individual. Nobody else played like that in those early days. Together with the brilliant Chris Squire I have played like Pete Banks and the bass like Chris Squire for the last 55 years, those 1st two Yes albums were unique and the subsequent 3 Flash albums. Pete should have been in the Hall of Fame but we know sadly what happened there. In summary a remarkable guitarist up there with the likes of Chuck Loeb.
The Orginal Idea of CIRCA: ( Billy's and TK' Musical Creature), Was Billy, Tony, Alan and Peter. Was to be called FAMILY. Apparently Pete was not physically up to it. Would have been cool. Let his idea of YES music take that direction. Circa: Is awesome. But would have been so much more interesting with the old 60's psychedelic/Prog style of his.
I guess since Steve Howe officially owns the name Yes, there is no chance that Peter will be included in the R&R HOF. Really sad, as Peter really helped establish the band. His work in early Yes is remarkable and I totally agree with him that the music from Time and a Word is much better without the orchestrations (listen to the BBC recordings). Props to John for mentioning Peter during the HOF induction.

Everyone being very gracious towards Peter and acknowledging his legacy. I must have missed the Steve Howe clip

One of the saddest stories in rock. He was a true rock guitar genius and its just sad that his chance to shine was taken.

If we get enough support and donations to finish the film it will make it into distribution everywhere.
Waiting for this documentary with great anticipation 😎
I agree, a very sad chapter of rock history! Seems like nearly everyone turned against Peter....RIP, the struggle is over, Pete!
Yeah guys come on
Vote him TF in!!
Excellent preview ! Been waiting with anticipation !

Jon did mention Peter and his passing.

Peter was planning a tour playing early Yes material, but his health declined.
❤❤❤❤❤

The band were inducted a few years ago so any chance of that happening is gone, IMO. What did you think of the trailer?
@@supposableproductions I thought it was great.
Creepy like they almost all screwed PB, and therefore themselves. Love Peter, time to remix the "borrowed" tapes
